@@destroyallfurries That rationalization is used by oppressors throughout World History. _"We do not want the harm them, we just want to remain separate."_ As history shows, civil and ethical segregation does not work. It always transmutes into prejudice, as it is critically based upon prejudice.
In the same episode, Michiru convinces the audience to enjoy the sport for what it is, rather than solely monetary sport. Some would call this bad writing, but I don't see it that way; beastmen already have the initiative within them to change, whether it be subconscious or conscious. Humans, clearly, are unable to ignite that initiative into material change due to their hostility towards beastmen; however, as Michiru empathizes with them and spoke from passion, she was able to move them.
Lastly, as I said in my original reply, neither race is in the right. Humans have done actions as bad as murderous baseball; stoning, unethical executions, and archaic torture. Firing squads, war crimes, and illegal torture that's still done to this day. We both have tendency for violence, but again, that only changes once the initiative has been set off. Though the show wants you to see the extremists within humans, the beastmen are not saints either, and both sides are deeply flawed. Shirou is the motif of beastmen's flaws, as he goes from seeing all humans as immoral-close to harming his own kind as a result-to realizing that no one race is uniform in ideology and embracing a more passive stance.
@@stormichow5325 You're saying all this but you're ignoring what's happening in universe. The beastmen are full on, murderous...beasts.
Humans can be violent, but murder isn't allowed in a sports event. Murder is frowned upon by sane people. In a real life situation, you'd be a damn fool to try dealing with beastmen. More than likely, they'd tear you apart within a day.
The only reason segregation didn't work in reality, is because that segregation was a result of actual anger towards a race of people. Resources were denied as well. Here it would be due to the same reason people don't go living in the woods surrounded by predators. In this show, they have a whole civilization that's just fine without any humans, and vice versa.

I love this Anime. I hope there will be a second season... maybe following the storyline of Anima City's attempt to introduce humans to Beastman culture... while also developing the friendship/ relationship between Michiru & Nazuna further.

Cherami Leigh has always been an amazing voice actor, she brought to life a couple favorites of mine in dub,Asuna and Lucy.

Elizabeth Dooley there have been no announcements on the continuation of the series nor has there been confirmation it was only to be a single season. No official news on renewal or cancellation has come out.

With Beastars and BNA, Netflix has shown that furry anime has a surprisingly large audience. And they are the only streaming service to fill that niche.
You'd think that continuing BNA and possibly producing more furry anime to hold into that market would be a good decision for them.
