Four years down the line and I saw this knife on Amazon and came to look for a review. Soon as I saw that you had reviewed it, I keyed it up on my computer. My thoughts were the same as yours. It'd be great as an "Altoids tin" survival kit knife. Not sure I'd carry it for the clip. One of the biggest things I was wondering about was how hard it was to release from that circular "holder" and whether I could do it one-handed if it was clipped in my pocket. Your review was key in my decision to go ahead and order this little "pocket knife." Thanks!
Well as you know Bryan, I own the baby Schrade 57. And this SCHCC1 is a baby to my baby! LOL!!! I also took a file to the spine of the 57 and as you demonstrated that small effort turns most any rounded spine into a real spark thrower. I also like the concept of stashing this one in a mini survival kit as well as the original intent as a money or card holder. When in it's sheath, most people will not recognize it as a knife.
I have three little claw knives that are similar that came with leather sheaths. They do okay but I decided to hang a little M Magnum on a chain I wear around my neck. It's in 440A which doesn't rust and seems to do okay for what I use it for which is pretty much everything. Everything about it was rust resistant except the chain which I discarded using a more robust chain with a house key, car key and the knife under my shirt where it isn't noticeable. Blade and sheath will fit in an Altoids tin. Your blade seems solid but the sheath is a bit more noticeable on the other hand you could clip it to your car visor. It has more metal in it. As always if you are going to Amazon use Brian's link.
Survival On Purpose indeed. You demonstrated with the mint tin and that is exactly how a lot of people create emergency kits, I assume the knife is magnetic, so a tiny edge protector held in place with a neodymium magnet would be ideal.
Canadian Cutting Edge I like the look of this but if I was gonna buy a few to stash in kits. I'd simply buy a mora 510, 511 etc. cheaper and more usable.
I just had my USRDA of corn with that Chuck Norris joke. So corny. Keep up the corn Brian. That always makes me laugh. Good clean, wholesome humor and a good informative video. You're a good example of good clean living. I applaud you.
You got a nice sense of humor. I liked that - earned a new sub Bryan. btw you guys always doing paper cutting tests is almost as funny - one of the quickest ways to dull a good blade
I actually just held the knife today. I was pleasantly surprise you actually were able to throw and stab the knife in wood... but then again it's your signature. 😊
Handy little blade .... an additional lanyard would be useful . I wonder if it would be possible to design a sheath for little knives like these that can also be refitted onto/around the blade as an ad hoc handle for those situations when you need to have a better grip ect ?
You could bodge a sheath out of duck tape or something like that, or you could buy a CRKT Ritter RSK Mk 5, which is designed to go into an Altoids sized tin, and comes with a sheath which is designed to facilitate this, plus a lanyard which is designed to extend the effective handle length.
Thanks for the fine review. I tried to watch a review on the same knife a few hours back, but the guy was more into how he looked and had his back side hurt that Schrade sent him a small knife. Keep up the good work.
As I write this the limit on blade length in NZ is 4-1/2 inches, non-folding, non-spring-activated; fixed. But even that is under continual challenge: it being there are those who wish the civilian population to be __entirely__ defenseless. Over the decades, I have made myself familiar with short-blade and miniature knives as you here demonstrate. While I've seen in NZ similar designs I've not yet managed to find a knife in the form you show here. But I right mightily wish I could. Thanks for another very informative video, friend. :) Kind and Respectful Regards Bryan, Uyraell, NZ.
Bryan When I first saw this knife my thought was Schrade made this knife looking at Jason Brous’ Silent Soldier Knife. This is a very cool little knife. It does what it’s suppose to. 😊
Yeah, moment you pulled out the Altoids Tin I thought square the spine. If I had to use it the first thing would to be to lash a bigger handle on it. Should take all of two minutes to do.
Howdy. I ordered one of the Schrade Mini hunters after watching your video. I love the little knife. The sheat was terrible but the company made it right. Hard to ask for more than that. Thanks. Love the channel.
Can't have more than a 2" blade? Are they aloud nail clippers? Just bought a couple of hammocks you suggested though your link. Can't wait for delivery. Enjoy your channel.
In Canada we don't have lenght restrictions, but any knife with a finger hole is illegal. So I can carry my Esee 5 or my BK-9, as long as I can say why I have it (self defense isn't valid), but I can't carry this little thing.
Schrade Saturday :) Great review as always! Seems like a cool little blade. Does it fit inside the sheath pouch of SCHF36 and SCHF51? Would make great companion for both. I like it a lot. Small, sharp, and easy to slip in survival tins, pouches or where ever. Great option for TOPS Turley 23. Big thumbs up Bryan! Have a great weekend :)
It does but it takes up all the room in the pouch. Not sure that would be my strategy, since the real purpose for a backup blade is if you lose or break your main knife. I'd have my backup in a different place.
Just because it's a drop point, doesn't mean that is what you do. At least it's a full tang knife, lol, but I will stick with my BK13. It sits very well in any pocket or wallet, can be lashed if need be, hides in the hand and processes food fairly well.
Great Review as always. Must have tapped into the same hivemind as the designer. I have a very similar design and concept which I've made myself 2 years ago. Will definitely get one of these and perhaps shoot a comparison video. Thanks again for all your hard work.
I wouldn't call it a knock off of the Gerber. Anyone that wants to bitch about THAT needs to justify Gerber's "knock off" of the Havalon knives. Same thing. It's just competition on a type if knife style. My vid isn't posted yet (I put the Kansbol up first) but I said this would be a superior alternative to the CRKT RSK knife for an Altoids tin... goes nice clipped to your belt or for people in areas that freak about knife sizes. Glad it's 8cr.
Say Heah Brian, Good Job, But I really like fuller handles on my small knives, Oval Handles and Bowie with rounded Handles work best for me as far as control, If round was a good control shape, Then I think Hockey Sticks would be round, Oh, I just got a pretty powerful Pistol CrossBow, You should do a video on some, I think it's a pretty good Bush Tool.
Just one more thought, Alot criticize batoning with a knife, But yet they want to carve with their hatchet's. To me it's like why do feet smell and noses run. ,, .
It's sheaths like this one that force customers to spend more money for after market sheath to make this a neck knife lol they should offer a secondary sheath for neck carry it would help with neck carry and just like u were saying for a survival tin
Really nice video Brian. That would make a lovely knife for taking the hide off an animal as your field dressing it for consumption. Glad to see the Smith sharpening stone is a good buy as I am always looking for items to sharpen my knife and axe.
would it get rusty if wet? (8cr13mov high carbon stainless steel)....stainless? not a metal specialist. I'd just have it ''on'' a pocket or belt. Occupied? Ya mean, ISLAMBURG & DEARBORN MICHIGAN? was that your pet robotic skunk?
Thanks for the review Bryan. BTW I not sure about the communist controlled statement. I saw a post recently where Russian high school students where doing a field strip exercise of a combat rifle... So they are teaching students to respect and maintain weapons and we are teaching ours to fear and loath a pocket knife...
But they are no longer communist. At least officially. (I know they were actually never technically communist, they were considered socialist but there ain't much difference)
I dunno. It is an interesting little thing. There's a limit of small being too small. I think that's too little. It needs SOME tang for a handle. I mean you could break a razor out of a Bic disposable razor, and cut things with it, but...too small.
Sorry mate but you're wrong. only illegal to carry a knife in the UK "without a good reason" if it's 3" blade or over... This to me would be the most efficient way to use this particular blade. I would like to be able to purchase 5 or 6 for my survival pack, as one could be used as so and the others could be used for spear, arrows, etc. This is a good size blade for light work, such as small game processing, but not for batoning or throwing. (Not with out some kind of extra weight such as an arrow shaft or spear shaft.)
Looks like a perfect neck knife either on a leather piece or a metal bead necklace for dog tags. Good video, as always

Bought one after this video for a altoids survival tin thanks Bryan
Cool
Love your videos.....you crack me up......love the "state of the art" calibration testing facilities!
Thanks for the support!
You are one good salesman. I just brought one of these things right away.
Well as you know Bryan, I own the baby Schrade 57. And this SCHCC1 is a baby to my baby! LOL!!! +Charles Larson very true
Very Cool Little Knife and a Great Review! Thanks Much and Y'all Don't Forget to GO VOTE!
+James White I already did.
WOW!!!! Really going high tech and all out with this one! You got some new equipment and everything. Taking the calibration to a whole new level!
+cwthemachinist constant improvement.

I think you are spot on, that would be a great knife to buy 5 or 6 of and keep one in all of those places where you need an emergency knife.
+Canadian Cutting Edge I wish they would release this one with a smaller sheath aimed at survival kits
Survival On Purpose indeed. You demonstrated with the mint tin and that is exactly how a lot of people create emergency kits, I assume the knife is magnetic, so a tiny edge protector held in place with a neodymium magnet would be ideal.

Aw shucks. You are too kind.
That’s better feather sticking than I thought it would be
me too
You got a nice sense of humor. I liked that - earned a new sub Bryan.
btw you guys always doing paper cutting tests is almost as funny - one of the quickest ways to dull a good blade
+Gunter Patee I know, but it does seem like a decent way to test a factory edge.
I actually just held the knife today. I was pleasantly surprise you actually were able to throw and stab the knife in wood... but then again it's your signature. 😊

yes you could. Both are good knives in my opinion

Blade length limits are pointless
Bryan When I first saw this knife my thought was Schrade made this knife looking at Jason Brous’ Silent Soldier Knife. This is a very cool little knife. It does what it’s suppose to. 😊
This is why I tune in.Great job on calibration.Neat knife.
+jeramy lawlor thanks
The concept is about the only likeness. Good review Bryan.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
is there any larger fixed blades or bushcraft Knives coming that haven't been shown yet that u have coming up? if so I'm looking forward to them
Stay tuned.
Brian I would add a homemade Ranger band around a Altoids tin that way you can lot more stuff behind it if you wanted to.
+Tony Davila yep
I thought this was going to be a gimmick type knife, but it seems to be a good little blade and sheath. thanks for sharing Brian.
I had a hunch it would be a great knife for a survival kit
Nice little blade, I'm sure I'll pick one or two up just have.
You will be glad you did.
big performance for such a small blade, im impressed. ty for this review, i want one.
It is pretty cool
Nice, like the blade shape much more then the Gerber. When will these be available?
2017 sometime.
Nice thorough review. Just ordered one for under $12 on ebay. Thanks.
Yeah, moment you pulled out the Altoids Tin I thought square the spine. If I had to use it the first thing would to be to lash a bigger handle on it. Should take all of two minutes to do.
+leighrate there may not be enough handle to lash it securely enough for my liking
Thanks Brian. I've been looking for a good inexpensive knife of this size. Thank you.
You are welcome
Nice knife. Thanks Bryan.
+RDLaw88 thanks
Great review Brian.
+Hershel Cyphers thanks!
It is a little like the thumb knife made for British spies during the Cold War.
I like the upgraded testing equipment. Very nice.
+Tom Olofsson continual improvement is the foundation for progress
Howdy. I ordered one of the Schrade Mini hunters after watching your video. I love the little knife. The sheat was terrible but the company made it right. Hard to ask for more than that. Thanks. Love the channel.
Thanks for watching.
I like the survival tin idea for that knife. Too bulky to carry as money clip.
+Scott Trethaway it is for me too but
I like the full tang design :-)
+TheEZGZ me too
Can't have more than a 2" blade? Are they aloud nail clippers? Just bought a couple of hammocks you suggested though your link. Can't wait for delivery. Enjoy your channel.
+Brian Binns thanks
Brian Binns wow... even Canada can have knives... I think at least.
What is the Gerber knife that you said this is similar to?
I don't remember
that's a cool knife! schrade had an amazing idea
+coolkid survival it is indeed
In Canada we don't have lenght restrictions, but any knife with a finger hole is illegal. So I can carry my Esee 5 or my BK-9, as long as I can say why I have it (self defense isn't valid), but I can't carry this little thing.
Make perfect sense to me...not
Great review, think it would do well in a neck knife sheath?
+Hammer yep
Nice review. I like this blade, it fits a survival tin.
Yep
Schrade Saturday :) Great review as always! Seems like a cool little blade. Does it fit inside the sheath pouch of SCHF36 and SCHF51? Would make great companion for both. I like it a lot. +Roy Fernbach I agree
can you do a video showing how to properly throw a knife??? THX
+Themoldypotato p here is sort of one ruclips.net/video/eNtNNzn5Gb0/видео.html
Thank you
Very frightening that you aren't joking about occupied territory.
+Jimislash sad
Thanks for review!
Thanks for watching.
A small to medium folder would beat that hands down. Much more comfortable, usable, etc.
Choices
Nice knife, I really like that knife.
+Patrick Kamer me too
A dead pine tree fell on my roof a couple of days ago, no real damage done thank God, but now i have a surplus of fatwood. :)
+Schroeder_2000 happy accident s
Is this out yet? Looking to buy but cant find on amazon
It is a 2017 model. Soon
Actually just bought it on the Schrade website $26 including shipping
Good review, I think It could make a good mayday neck knife. oh, and props for your state of the art testing facility!
+Gbaum515 thanks
Got to get me one of those ! Thanks
You will be glad you did.
Perfect for a med kit as well.
I agree
Survival On Purpose can I get a shoutout
Just because it's a drop point, doesn't mean that is what you do. At least it's a full tang knife, lol, but I will stick with my BK13. It sits very well in any pocket or wallet, can be lashed if need be, hides in the hand and processes food fairly well.
Whatever works
Nice one I like this great for a tin kit maybe. You have mosquitoes we have bee's.
We have yellow jackets but they don't actively seek you out to feast on your blood.
great throwing!
Thanks!
Cool. Just ordered it on Amazon for $10.XX.
cool little blade! Rather large for money clip
I agree
Great video keep it up bless on your family
The retention system is genial
Hmmm.
What was that sitting on your ear at 14:26 lol.......
Hmmm
Great Review as always. Must have tapped into the same hivemind as the designer. I have a very similar design and concept which I've made myself 2 years ago. Will definitely get one of these and perhaps shoot a comparison video. Thanks again for all your hard work.
Thanks for watching.
Bryan, I hope you don't get zika messing around in mosquitoville. Get ya some raid yard guard. Cool little knife btw.
I'm good
I wouldn't call it a knock off of the Gerber. Anyone that wants to bitch about THAT needs to justify Gerber's "knock off" of the Havalon knives. Same thing. It's just competition on a type if knife style.

Also half the price of that Gerber with a better edge profile IMO
I do prefer the thinner Gerber clip though.
+PREPAREDMIND101 yeah I agree
great video like always
+gSix Snipzz (Scavity) thanks you
Greetings,
Very interesting! Very good to have this item on the equipment!
Congratulations to the channel! Very good! We are already subscribed!
Hugs
+Mateiros Carijós gracias
Where can I buy it??
Maybe on Schrade's website. It is a 2017 model and not on Amazon yet.

Your welcome 😄👍
;-)
It's sheaths like this one that force customers to spend more money for after market sheath to make this a neck knife lol they should offer a secondary sheath for neck carry it would help with neck carry and just like u were saying for a survival tin
It's $11 on Amazon. How much do you expect.
Awesome video
;-)
Great looking little knife and an interesting video about it, too bad that it would seem Schrade isn't all that easy to come by here in Europe though
That is too bad
Really nice video Brian. That would make a lovely knife for taking the hide off an animal as your field dressing it for consumption. Glad to see the Smith sharpening stone is a good buy as I am always looking for items to sharpen my knife and axe.
+David Genthner Jr it is not my favorite but it was handy.
I knew your music sounded familiar lol Team Fitzgerald tune.
?? I only use original music I create and play myself. I never heard of them, so I checked them out. Cool channel.
+Survival On Purpose
It's pretty close
Nice little knife , A little to small for me though
+Steve it is supposed to be
would it get rusty if wet? (8cr13mov high carbon stainless steel)....stainless? not a metal specialist. I'd just have it ''on'' a pocket or belt. Occupied? Ya mean, ISLAMBURG & DEARBORN MICHIGAN? was that your pet robotic skunk?
Almost any steel, including "stainless" will rust. Some are just way less susceptible than others. I'd keep it clean an dry after use
thanks for the come back. guess I'll keep the mora eldris it works great for a fisherman.
The Eldris is an excellent knife
Real cool Spear Point ?
If you could secure it
Thanks for the review Bryan.
I don't understand everyone complaining about "you copied so and so!" How about Gerber copying Leatherman? Or any of the manufacturers of multi-tools?
+Jeff Hillendahl exactly.
Great vid tho 👍👍🤗😄😋
Thanks!
I dunno. It is an interesting little thing. There's a limit of small being too small. I think that's too little. It needs SOME tang for a handle. I mean you could break a razor out of a Bic disposable razor, and cut things with it, but...too small.
It is supposed to be small. It is not a primary blade but it is much more useful than a razor blade
That blade would still be illegal in the UK because it's a fixed blade lol
+Nolan Carpenter bummer
Sorry mate but you're wrong. only illegal to carry a knife in the UK "without a good reason" if it's 3" blade or over... This knife is only 3.6" overall so would be legal as the cutting edge is around 1.5". Regardless of whether it's a fixed blade or not. However - all flick knives that are lockable are illegal.
That's hilariously sad.
A lot of versatility fir a tiny knife
Seems preferable to get this for a tin kit rather than ruining a Mora Eldris haha. I wonder how easy it is to lash it to a stick 🤔
Hmm
Nice review. Keep Georgia in the Red column please
;-)
nice
+JW's BulletsNBlades thanks
Illinois, New York, and North Korea all have rediculous laws restricting knives.
I thought CA was the two inch or under state?
+Jeremy Goldberg www.knifeup.com/california-knife-and-balisong-law/
+Tom Olofsson kniferights.org. And NRA just because.
I am a life member of the NRA and a member of Knife Rights. Also National Association for Gun Rights and The Illinois Rifle Association. Oh yes, and the National Eagle Scout Association.
nice business card
+pawel0727 thanks
there was a skunk in the back round on the bulls eye
Skunk? What skunk?
Your tip got worksharped huh?!
No, just a diamond stone.
for just a moment I thought you were going to make a feather stick from your card!!!
+M. Myrick I thought about it.
Some people are so concerned for the financial welfare of businesses that they have no relationship with other than being a customer. It's almost as if they believe that their favourite company is too inept and impotent to take care of themselves and litigate when THEY want too.
+Canadian Cutting Edge and some just like to bash
Would like to see you baton a log with this and spread cold peanutbutter on soft whitebread with it .
+mwillblade probably a little small for a log but it would tear the heck out of a piece of bread
That is quite a little nail cutter!
INdeed
I think if I get this I'll put this on my belt and make a wooden handle for it
That's actually a great idea. But I don't know if it would fit in the sheath after.
+Southern Survival might be tricky to fasten
+RAVIOLI DAWG probably not
small game knife, birder knife, ?????
Sure
This to me would be the most efficient way to use this particular blade. I would like to be able to purchase 5 or 6 for my survival pack, as one could be used as so and the others could be used for spear, arrows, etc. This is a good size blade for light work, such as small game processing, but not for batoning or throwing. (Not with out some kind of extra weight such as an arrow shaft or spear shaft.)
Best comment ever heard on RUclips, "if you live in Communist occupied territory"!
;-)
Since we can't use profanity could we have some scantily clad babes?
There are other channels for that. At least I have heard there are ;-)
Some Communist states don't allow fixed blade EDC knives. They consider them weapons not tools.
Just plain stupid
