  • Montezuma Tower is a Super Classic climb at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. It ascends up the narrow North ridge of the Tower the climb itself is NOT too difficult is only (5.7), but a LOT of exposure on both sides and crowds of people watching is what makes it nerve-wracking!!. It can be done as a 2 pitch climb, but I just went for it in one long pitch with a 60 m rope, I did bring another 60 m rope for the rappel down.

    I was scared s***less just watching, but couldn’t take my eyes off screen. Major league man! My wife and I have run the Garden but the view from the ground is nothing like this!

      Thanks for watching is not a very technical climb at all, but exposure on both sides makes it super sketchy to take a fall

    Kinda late, but I wanted to throw out that when you girth hitched with both your draws you had potentially tri-loaded your carabiner if you had taken a fall. If you haven’t already invested in longer slings, I’d suggest doing so. Glad you had fun and stay safe out there!

    Garden of the Gods is a nightmare. I wouldn't grab a bolt I would gram my car keys. Hats off to the garden climbers, this is bold stuff on far from good rock.

    As a fairly new climber I am currently struggling with the pressure and fear of exposure. Its been a vice so far, because I have learned to trust the gear enough and I feel my climbing skill is good enough to do a lot of things but fear is still holding me back.

      I will only climb easier rating routes outdoors because I don't want to fall, I trust the gear, but it will still hurt to take a big fall.

    I would suggest not racking your cams all on one biner like that. Learn the sizes and know whats what. If you dropped that one biner you will be out 4 pieces of gear all at once making a climb super unsafe.

      @Theninjaonthemountains  3 года назад +1

      Thats for advise, I think this was the first time I used my cams and realized that too.

    • @bumpo555
      @bumpo555 3 года назад

      Climbing is permitted in the gardens as long as you have a city issued permit and sand colored chalk. I believe most of the climbs are bolted( not positive on this part)

    • @Theninjaonthemountains
      @Theninjaonthemountains  3 года назад

      yeah, probably not too safe which is why I backed it up and shortly after found a bolt, I was new to this route and nervous with exposure on both sides

      there is a belay spot halfway and a lot of people just climb it halfway, since it gets really intense from there on
