Potter was obviously the murderer. Claiming that he paid Walton extra money was the biggest tell. He most likely owed Walton money and when he was confronted by Walton who "spoke his mind" and being intoxicated as he admitted being in the pub before going back to the farm, killed him. He then got his wife to wash his clothes and provide an alibi for him. Other farmers giving good character references for him probably indicates that they to scammed their workers out of wages as well. The witchcraft stuff was all utter garbage. People who were termed "horse whisperers" were widely known from the mid 1800's as assets to farming communities due to their ability to rehabilitate vicious or traumatised horses back into work that would have otherwise been a loss to a working farm. Dogs probably liked him because he wasn't an arsehole to them and toads are all over England. No one spoke out against Potter because he is "landed gentry" and they have always had power in England.

I agree, this video could have done without the witchcraft nonsense, it makes light of a serious murder. I also believe Potter was guilty, while I understand the issue of 'lack of evidence' I believe the police could have done more to play out the wife and husband against each other and have the other help testify as to the poor character of Potter.

Potter killed Walton they probably got into a dispute about Potter under paying him. Potter used the ignorance of the villagers to make the murder look like a witch killing...what a creep 😡

Now we're talking, this is back to the form. Great tale with loads of twists and turns suspects, weird as they come. Obscure central.
