- As Russia mounts an offensive against Ukraine for the 5th consecutive day, hundreds of Indian students are stranded in freezing temperatures at the Ukraine-Poland border. At such a time, several videos of Indian students being pushed, heckled and abused by Ukrainian authorities are now going viral on social media. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi have tweeted some of these videos and asked the Modi government to immediately share its evacuation plan with those stranded. While some Indians are braving the winters at the border, many are stuck at metro station being used as bomb shelters in Ukraine's capital city of Kyiv. Watch this video for more details.

When the govt issued advisory to leave Ukraine, the students should have left. They kept on waiting till the last moment. This is really sad & heart breaking but the students and their families should have taken the govt's warning seriously.

As a person who has lived in Europe for 12 years, please never go to places like Ukraine, Belarus or any country neighbouring Russia to study, work or settle. These places are always on edge and risky, worse than the Indo-Pakistan border. Consider other countries like Poland, Germany, or even better the UK, where it is safer and less discrimination. If you can't go to the places recommended, go back home and continue your life at your home country until times get better. Wars in Europe are much much worse, remember we had WW1 and WW2 all of them originated in Europe.

GoI made an urgent appeal to all our students to come back when the war was advancing in Crimea; & most did. I have a relative among them. Only those who chose to stay back are now in a serious mess. How is GoI to be blamed for it? We never wanted war from start. India stayed neutral also stated that everything should be resolved in diplomatic way just by talks. The main reason india is neutral bcoz we have policy of non alignment we dont participate in wars not bcoz of russia is friends or something. The Ukrainians seem not be in control of themselvs. Lets hope it has nothing to do with Indias stance on Ukraine at UN. India will get back at them for this in time to come. Zelensky is already seeking help from India after being on of the countries that always votes againt India at UN. The Ukrainians must understand how protective India is of its citizens.
