- Here you are a similar video to the one I uploaded last year, but of course with 2018 cars. During the first two days of F1 pre-season tests I spent a couple of hours recording all the cars living the pitlane, doing the race start procedure and then re-enter with a few close-up shots. Hope you like it!

The turbo V6 sounds are beginning to grow on me!

if I remember correctly 2018 cars were made louder on purpose, even on TV you could hear the difference

Well, they're sounding better than the earlier V-6's. That's a big improvement.
Damn Mercedes sounds brutal, but Ferrari sounds so smooth.
Anyway, cars look and sound incredible this year, even with the Halo.

@@yorben1522 Yeah that was my opinion 3 years ago when the Halo was first introduced but I grew to like it pretty early on in the 2018 season.

Jj Nich I’ve noticed in the onboards too. Mercedes engines don’t actually sound bad, Ferrari’s MGU-K/KERS shines quite a bit, and then we have Renault

This is the most enjoyable video thus far this year -- being able to hear the engines without voice over or music or other extraneous sounds is most helpful. There's a crispness to the sound of the Merc that is unlike anyone else.

The standing accelerations, lightning quick shifts, and instantaneous throttle response of these F1 cars leave little to be desired and even though will always be a bunch of V10 comments flying, personally, I think these cars sound amazing in their own right.💪 Thanks for taking us along with you, mate. @Elías José Füssel Chavarría I disagree, formula 4 raced a couple hours before them when I went to a race weekend, and they were louder. Maybe it was just the amount of people in the stands for F1, making it harder to hear.

Agree...it sounds so much more fierce and tightly wound than the others. I have no idea what that means for performance but it seems good for them.

Ror R at least last year when i went to Spa the honda mclaren was the loudest and sounded the best i think it may just be the wind blowing a different direction.
Andy cowell and the good people at brixworth has done it again. The motor for sure is putting out at least 1k hp. The end is near...

The v6 at low revs sounds good, it's just in the higher revs it sounds like an electric razor
Wonderful sounds especially the Mercedes.
As usual Bozzy has done a Great job recording the cars and we can hear what they really sound like. Unfortunately those of us who watch the TV coverage get about 20% of what we hear on this video......The Dribble from the commentators is turned up and the cars turned down. Be good if they could extract another 5 thousand RPM out of these things. Those Standing Starts look Pretty Pathetic, like an auto taking off at the local Traffic Lights.

There just isn't enough fuel to rev higher because of the fuel flow limit.
Yes, I guess you are right, I wasn't thinking about that. Then as usual it's a problem with the regulations. Give them more fuel to play with at a higher flow rate. It is F1 after all, and it shouldn't be an economy run.
More fuel is in discussion for 2019, but the increase they are talking about is minimal and only intended to let the drivers use full internal combustion power over the full race distance.
It would be much more spectacular if the fuel limit would be a certain number of litres for the race without restrictions on fuel flow.

Well damn, they were all talk and no show. What's worse: Toro Rosso has had no engine related failures and Sauber, who were previously worst, are now whipping their asses. When are they gonna learn to just put their heads down and focus...

CaptainPanick I think the engine shuts off 2 pistons at lower revs to limit wheelspin at slower speeds and while going out of corners, so that might be the sound it makes on 4 pistons. Basically an engine controlled traction control system?
It’s the engines that gargle at low speeds, it’s especially common in Honda engines, sometimes they sound a little more agressive. Also the slight pop before revving is just the transmission selecting the gear

The Renault engines sound the best to me (especially on the McLaren); they have a very mechanical, raw, old fashioned (in a good way) sound. Honda has a different sound but is similar in the above characteristics (mechanical, raw sound), but not as good as the Renault. In contrast, the Ferrari and Mercedes engines sound much more refined, as though their sound is the result of some sophisticated engine computer(s) (ECU). In actuality, they all use sophisticated engine computers and other gizmos. But I suppose the Ferrari and Mercedes engines sound the way they do because they are simply much more efficient than the Renault & Honda. The Mercedes engine / exhaust does seem to be the loudest and sounds epic when accelerating / upshifting. The Ferrari sounds good at higher RPMS. Just my opinion....

So let me get this straight, they wanna make them safer so we put a blindspot right on front of the face?
Here's a simple thing you can do to prove the halo isn't a 'blindspot':
Look at a wall/object/whatever,
Now put your finger about 30cm in front of your face, but don't let your eyes focus on it. Instead, keep focussing on the thing you were initially looking at.
Your eyes can 'see around' your finger, almost as though it's transparent.
You can still make out that your finger is there, but it definitely doesn't obscure vision in any way, and the drivers have all said the same thing.
@@TennysonPesco I'll add that drivers comment you don't notice it because they arent focused on it like you say and also drivers are always looking where they are going next so they barely if ever look straight ahead
