@@TheMinecraftACMan I know you're making a joke but they have canonically done this a few times when a Commissar from another IG unit has to take control. If the Commissar shows cowardice or simply uses tactics the Kriegsman disapprove of (aka. anything that isn't running straight at an enemy bunker) for too long a few "accidents" have occurred or they died in honorable combat...where surprisingly there was no report of combat that day. It's darkly funny in the way all 40k things are.

Never underestimate Krieger moral, they are always one bayonet charge away from actually having fun.
They are 100% ok with being "meat shield: the faction" and I love that honestly
You know bayonet shovel is not as dumb as it seems. Assuming the gun can handle the added stress, you get a longer entrenching tool for better digging leverage and what basically amounts to an axe on your rifle.
Also, somewhere in the imperium I am sure there is a regiment that has axe bayonets, we just need to find them.

Also schaufel is just outright shovel for germans n krieg is based of ww1 germany so it is very fitting and also the fact i cant help but imagine tabk rifles are still a thing in warhammer 40k but stronger although needs a full crew to operate such a "rifle" when it is outright a bolter but as a cannon held by 5 carrying it on their shoulder, 3 to cock up the bullet into the chamber, 11 to remove n reload the magazine and 2 to get the trigger going, while everyone of them has to steer clear of the recoil and they do their own verion of backblast clear
The official literature doesn't specifically state that this didn't happen, therefore it could be canon.

Here's how a Commissar keeps order in a Kreig regiment. "YOU DON'T HAVE PERMISSION TO DIE BEFORE YOU KILL THE EMPEROR'S ENEMIES!!!" If you convince them they won't be forgiven by the Emperor unless they follow orders properly and don't die before killing the Emperor's enemies, they'll do anything you say.

@@fionfee I think there'd really be no point in sending any of them to war below the age of sixteen. 40k war is still brutal and industrious, so not only do you need an effective and developed soldier but you also need a functioning industrial sector. A kriegsman's life is probably a mix of combat training and factory labor, with the latter transitioning more into the former as he ages. So by logistics, I'd be hesitant to guess any krieger is below sixteen or maybe fifteen.
@@irishspartanstudioseah. If this is before the final siege line and before chaos broke the naval blockade, while lord general Zuehlke was in charge. The kriegs of the 88th siege army were veterans, so they were likely older. I mean for a krieg that's not saying much. Maybe instead of 14 year old fresh recruits, they were 18++ year old veterans as it was alrdy past the 12 year deadline since they invaded varks.

I like to think the dancing Krieger was a real soldier at the siege who was actually so stoked about being assigned to there that he'd do these dance numbers to raise morale (as if that was necessary) and the officers were too freaked out by this guy that they just let him be.

Traditionally all militaries around the world have some tradition of music (mostly orchestras, but sometimes also marching bands). Honestly imagening the Soldiers of Krieg dancing as some kind of strange military custom to train synchronisation, mobility and fitness isnt that far out there. Can someone make this canon?
I once saw a strategic analysis of this battle. The guy said that statistically, there was one Kriegsman who survived until the end of that campaign. If this is Vraks the sequal, then that dancing man is that one survivor.
If he was that one survivor he'd likely be a Krieg Grenadier simce he survived long enough to have the necessary experience
