I think he was nervous. He hadn't recalibrated quite yet to sing with his newly fixed chords yet. Takes a lot less effort to hit a note after a surgery like that.
@@94nolo I think he switched back to the pick from the softer pluck because the bass drops again there in the recording
No, he wasn't nervous or anything else. This is his strumming/picking pattern style that he's always done. He uses the broad side for strumming and the sharp end for picking.
Keith, I know you will probably never read this, but I just wanted you to know how much inspiration you give people. I've played guitar since 5th grade, and your music constantly reminds me why I chose the instrument. As a person, your story reminds everyone that life can be wonderful if you have the right state of mind. I wish you all the happiness in the world.

to any guitarist out there watch his picking hand between 3 45 and 4 05 secs its pretty darn impresive
mitchell8 mitchell8 all he's doing is picking the notes of the e power chord. With his pick and hand. He does that on somebody like you as well.
@@meekhaider4852 He's not using his pick at all in that sequence. You didn't watch close enough, clearly. He's flipping the pick 360 degrees and resetting it in between each 3 finger pluck - never using the pick.
As a musician, you ARE my hero and my inspiration! If I could write a song and music just HALF as well as you, I'd be happy! My favorite artist of all time!

I never thought I’d love an artist more than I did Jon Bon Jovi until you came along for me back in 1997. I met you during fan fair and followed you ever since. You have the most amazing voice and are SO talented. What I wouldn’t give to spend a few days with you getting to know you as an artist and person. When I was younger, I had always dreamed of singing, but have fear of speaking or singing in public in the worst way. I figure I can just sing by myself and sing to God instead.
