Alive on Arrival was just what I needed in 1978. Opened new musical vistas for me - he didn’t need another album to cement himself as one my favourites. So glad I re-discovered his new music in the late 80s and 90s. Still listening Steve … thank you

Forbert was on my must see live bucket list since the eighties but there was no way, I thought, he would ever get to me and just a few years ago, he showed up here in London, Ontario, and I got to see and meet him in person. Thank you Steve for coming to our remote city. I regret not saying that to him while he was here.

Loved you since the first album. I'll love your music always. You are a hard working man for the awesome music you make. Love your shows. I just can't afford to go anymore.

Thank you to Ken Paulson for this interview with Steve Forbert. 🌷
Woke up this morning with Romeo’s tune in my head. I’m not sure why because I don’t listen to music anymore unless it’s Hebrew acknowledging YEHOVAH.
In 1980 when Romeo’s tune was a hit here in Australia I was 12. Back then all I remember about Steve is that he has the most attractive voice! Now I appreciate the wonderful lyrics too. Had to check out the song again and came across this interview.
What a great guy you are Steve and genuine, honest and talented- something rare in the music industry these days and for a long long time.
Blessings to you in Yeshua. 🙏🏻🌷

Sometime in the late 1990s, think it was 1997, my g/f & I hit a little club in Peterborough NH on our way back from a NE Patriots game in Foxborough MA. Club was called The Folkway. It's gone now, and that's too bad. Great club. We got there a little into Steve's set, and the only open table was the front table(!). Pretty lucky I thought because it afforded me a chance to watch Steve play guitar (being an amateur guitarist myself). So, we took our seats in between songs, and Steve asked us about the game while we were getting comfy, which garnered some laughs from the capacity crowd. I segued the football talk into a request for "Song For Katrina", but Steve told me he had already played it. However...his next song was "Romeo's Tune", and in the middle of it, he breaks into "Song For Katrina". What a guy. After the show we went upstairs where Steve was doing some meets/greets. I bought a couple of his CDs, which he kindly signed for me. While pulling out of the driveway, headed home on one of the best one-two punch, day/night, combo dates ever, my g/f says, "He even took the cellophane off the CDs for you!!!". I got a kick out of that one because it didn't occur to me at the time. Steve is just reg'lar folk. No pretension about him at all. It was a great show, and great night. Catch Steve Forbert live. You won't regret it.

Loved him since Jackrabbit Slim onwards...cannot understand why he is not HUGE because everyone I've ever played his stuff to has LOVED it. No accounting for taste, he's a poet, an original, and I will ALWAYS be a fan.

Alive on Arrival is an all time great album. I saw Steve 15 times, and met him in Atlanta in Borders book store in 1996. Nice guy. Great entertainer. The American in Me, Streets Of The Town, Steve Forbert, all excellent cds.

Steve's a smart guy...Ive been a very longtime fan and own maybe 15 of his albums..he has the right attitude for this line of work.....I went the other way and passed on my dreams and worked hard jobs but saved my money and now I'm glad I went that route......I still got to play the occasional solo gig and even hosted a successful open Mic for a couple years...its very strange how life works for different people.......I wish Steve lots of luck for the future! Great music!

Just finished his memoir, Big City Cat. Steve tells a real recording artist story. This interview was a great follow-up. Such a very talented writer/performer.

Steve seems very sincere though the press tried to paint him as a spinner of a lot of tales? Very smart and down to earth. I figured he was more popular. Anyway, his net worth is 1 to $5M, not so bad but really he is a top 60 for me. I saw him in person and didn't like him as much as his records but it could have just been an off night as he didn't really play some of his good songs or flesh them out on his acoustic guitar. There was no band at this small venue. But he is very underrated. This is my personal list of his top 10 songs.
1 Get well soon - love it
      2. Going down to Laurel
3 Ya ya next to me - silly but love it
      4 what kinda guy?
6 Listen to me - poignant and beautiful
7 The Sweet love that you give
8 Romeo's Tune - Yeah I like it but not as much as some others
9 I'm in love with you
10 It isn't gonna to be that way

Thom Page I agree, very underrated ....van morrison also I feel, although he's a little more known. Steve seems very personable as where I love van, definitely top 5 but he's got negative views towards lots of things.

He seems to be pretty much down to earth and reasonable. A no-nonsense kind of man. Luckily there's still a loyal fan-base for someone like that, because you only have to look at artists who are commercially successful and you notice they're mostly not known for these characteristics (at all).

Have been a fan since buying Jackrabbit Slim when it came out. Have never seen him perform but have tickets for a show in June (2022)… I can’t wait! His records over the last five or so years have been amazing. Shame he has never, to my knowledge, come to perform in Africa.

I've liked this guy since the early 1980's....actually since I very first time I ever heard him. I love both his lyrics and his melodies, but his lyrics are magical. Obviously “Alive on Arrival” and “Jackrabbit Slim” are masterpieces, but give his “American in Me” album a listen. You’ll never regret it. It is a work of genius, and he’s an American national treasure.

Plus, artists of all kind will have to compete with artificial intelligences barraging their genres. They will be so amazingly perfect at being imperfect, to seem like living people. Artists will have to certify somehow whether they are biological humans or machine entities. 🙋🧡🙏
