    Been a real admirer of Steve since 1978. Never saw him live though but he was doing gig in Cardiff a few years ago and I flew down from Glasgow to take it in. Steve is just such a great performer and in front of 150 audience played a brilliant solo set. At the gig he chatted with all the fans and I had really good discussion with him and he was just a real nice guy who loves music and life. This guy is a mega star who writes brilliant poetry and music about his life and we can all relate to. He has been true to his art and never compromised for commercial gain. If you are new to hearing Steve take my advice and listen to it all - you will not find a bad or duff song anywhere in his collection. Enjoy!

I love this song so much & Steve too. Nothing in my life is the way I thought it would be & being honest, I never really thought that much about things like this. I’m an in the moment kind of girl. If you want to check out a cool Steve Forbert lyric check out "Whatever, Man". Imo, this guy writes better lyrics than 95% of all songwriters. Here's a taste:
      "Now I’m not the only one in the world with problems
      But I am the only one with mine;
      Don’t start in feelin’ sorry for yourself
      It could take up all of your time
      You won’t likely see me walkin’ down the sidewalk
      Laughing deliriously;
      But I say people don’t take life seriously enough
      Or they wouldn’t take it so seriously...."
      This is a perfect song for the radio during this COVID-19 era!

It was love at first sight for me, and over the years, I've loved seeing him at the intimate Cactus Cafe on the UT campus. But when a man writes words and plays music with such feeling and emotion you would be stupid not to appreciate him. Trawling through You tube and found this . This is hands down one of the best songs I've heard in my life. In the top five. Easy. Not lonely tho, "I'm in love with you" is there keeping it company. Ha-haa. I love knowing there is so much more for me to discover. I cherish finding music I enjoy so much. I'm almost 50, sigh, there has only been one group who had SO MANY SONGS THAT I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Just puttin out AWESOME SONG AFTER AWESOME SONG. . . RUSH!
    NEIL PEART, GEDDY LEE AND ALEX LIFESON. rip Neil.
    I love ALL MUSIC, but what I'm talking about, it's more like a religion for me. #notsorry.
    When I find joy,
    I TAKE IT!
    AND I KEEP IT!
    SO I KNOW IT WHEN I SEE IT.

    I am a singer-songwriter where I live. I've been playing & writing since I was 20. I'm 69 now. With the exception of 2 songs I wrote when I was 20, I was never completely happy with anything I wrote. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I felt I could do. Then, one night, I was 42, I listened to The American in Me. I studied that CD the way Raymond Chandler studied Ernest Hemingway. That CD made me a better writer. There is a local band that calls me up & we do 2 or 3 of my songs towards the end of their last set, one of the band members introduces me as the "best songwriter he knows (he is also a songwriter) & we were recording several of my songs (before the virus). I even have some performance videos on RUclips. I never dreamed I would be where I am creatively. But, that dream came true. Thank you, and God bless you, Steve Forbert.

    Fan of this master for decades. F up and not been to his shows in Austin. Old fart with few regrets. This is one. Love this guy.

    Every day, every hour we have to realize: it isn't gonna be that way. Long time ago I thought my first love is my way but it isn't....

    I was 16 when I first heard this song and many others by Steve Forbert. 'It isn't gonna be that way' and it wasn't the way I dreamed it would be but the journey sure kept me busy. As I go on long walks and ponder life I remind myself not to go 'Thinkin and thinkin and thinkin so much' and try to keep sane
