been following this build of yours for a little while now. i was running 200int 100con and 100 focus before. the life regen was nice, but too low health and felt too glass canon. ive only just hit 60 though so im working my way to get these perks to do some more testing, although ive never seen the void gauntlet perks on our dead server. thanks for keeping us updated
Sadly until the next update the only way to get the void gauntlet skills is to force them onto crafted gear my armor set has 3 of the void gauntlet perks I run putrifying scream voracious blade and null oblivion it cost a small fortune to get the rolls I needed I'm 150int 150 focus and 100con light armor but I run a full life steal build regen on earring ring has leaching and my void gauntlet has lifestealing and I have a blessed life staff it's a really fun build
I think this build is the only way to make VG melee work tbh. I've tested extensively against good player and you depend so much on mobility and range with the melee VG that you can't run much else against a skilled player. I'd be inclined to run more focus to get a better scaling on the VG and be able to heal more as the FS in more of a support weapon in this case. Maybe something like 200/150/100 would be good still need to test it out. Edit : btw I've tested 50 dex on a average of a thousand hit. And it wasn't enough of an increase in damage to be worth. Even more when we consider resilience gear into play.
Try 100 ish con with 200 int and 150 focus with light armour (you can run con or con/int food). The focus and light armour scale your damage which scales your self heals, and the light armour buff with the focus scales your self heals again. I find the self heals with the fortify to be far tankier than a larger HP pool. I run ice gauntlet for the fire and forget damage, and I find that the cast time for incinerate is too long. You can get body to body with someone and they will be dodge rolled out of the aoe well before it actually goes off. I hope they fix it in the mage rework. When I was using firestaff, I ran flame thrower instead which worked well, but was counter productive being that close and not using void blade. FYI Pillar of Fire with the Refreshing Pillar of Fire perk is not bad in wars for launching nuke after nuke on stationary targets on the cap. It is far better than meteor shower (which is obviously ass doing only 25% weapon damage per second while rooting you in place) P.S. Reheat basically saves you a passive by not needing to take the cost reduction and mana on hit for heavy attacks.
really want divine + health on necklace, divine affects the healing received from the crit talent and the ultimate. Also everyone else who heals you I'd rather go ill gotten gains than that earring myself. Regenerating is a lot of hp over a fight (maybe also affected by divine? haven't checked), but maybe that's just me idk if the 50 dex points are worth it for the 5% crit. But you run it because your pants already have it so I guess its understandable ------- I like ice / void a lot more. Firestaff is good for diving into people and punishing, but ice has so much self peel, tomb, and team utility. The fortify on tomb and fortify on spell cast too. Scream -> shower -> void nonsense is a lot of time where they can't dodge and are very slow. Waiting to root targets when they are in a grav-well into shower is 99% death scentence. Void is weak to doing ranged damage though. in opr this is usually okay because you are in the fort most of the time, and wars there is too much chaos / someone is always on point or next to it for you to hit. People will kite you, and Firestaff feels good in these cases. ----- Pillar of fire should only be used in grav wells imo, or bad melee who don't spam dodge between autos when they are on your team-mates. I don't like incinerate with void myself, feels like I should just be using my sword instead if it comes to that. Watch it burn is bugged yeah, never goes off. ------ STR and weaknesses, agree with alot. If you focus your uptime around fortify and dodge a lot tanking 2-4 people isn't a problem if they aren't constantly using flatten with hammer. VG is not good at chasing, it has 1 root and no mobility. I would say in 1v1 its hard countered by fire / ice mage or someone who just likes staying ranged. Also countered by people holding block if they do get rooted. Bad VB players will spam left click instead of doing heavies to break the block if they do, and by that point they are free again. When fighting other melees, they are looking for oblivion for when they should not engage you, but you should just blade early and not oblivion until root in that case, or just light attack (no blade) in oblivion until they commit. If you use Ice / fire as your primary, I would suggest using the other as its secondary. The full mage VG build has good burst so ice/void is decent and has some team utility + roots + scream. Combo is: scream, Shower, heavy attack, ice spike. If you land spike in the middle any light armor person goes 100-0. (I don't play this way). I like playing void gauntlet / blade as a melee bruiser. You should wait for a team-mate to engage and you are the instant follow up. Only people you should be able to 100-0 with blade is afk left click melee or people who your team is helping CC. Everyone else can dodge roll or slowly kite their way away from you. Focus is on dodging around hammer stuns + random range damage while spamming left click on people / groups of people with your team. re-spreading quickly to avoid enemy grav wells once your fortify wears off. Another way I like to play it in wars is backline peel (with blade). Pushing out random people who decide to walk into /towards your backline. A rooted anoyance in the back line dies quick when healers swap to their secondaries to give you some CC to finish off Thanks for the video, good to learn everyone's perspectives on how to work in the weapon to the New World life/meta. Best is probably not using blade, and just doing ice/void light armor with orb of oblivion and popping whoever you root / people who are in grav wells. Using oblivion as a buff purge when Gwell hits. (but like I said I don't play it this way (which also doesn't pick any ultimate skills)).
Anyone know about this? -Are there must-have perks for Firestaff? -Have you tested orb instead of voracious blade? (probably more bursty but less pressure and dps) -Has anyone tested the damage and/or healing difference when using focus instead of int? -I think Fireball is just too easy to use not to take it, i can never decide between incinerate and pillar of fire. Any thoughts? Hell even Flamethrower could be fun -Has the december patch fixed Watch it burn and Singe?
What made you switch to 50 dex? I've heard a lot of people say that 50 dex isn't necessarily that good for a mage. Is it about the selfheal from the void gauntlet for crit? Or do you feel the 5% more crit chance is worth it for the fire staff as well? Fireball crit unfortunately doesn't work anymore so only the heavy attacks and incinerate remain for the crit. Would be really interested in what you think about it because I play almost the same build and have long been thinking about 50 dex. These could of course also go into Con for more life.
Have you tried heavy armor? The mobility firestaff offers might just be enough to pull it off. If you go hard into lifestealing with +lifesteal on the ring and crit on the VG paired with the Voidblade Gear Perk for 30% Lifesteal under 50% hp you might become close to an unkillable menance. At the expense of a little bit of mobility
Incinerate has more synergy with VG but the delay is so annoying it misses it's mark most of the time so I just switch to PoF for better ranged pressure. Also with Refreshing PoF perk, it becomes much more better.
im running this build but because of my horrible luck in gear i was able to get perks on other armor types so im a bit stuck wearing "medium helm / heavy body / heavy hands / medium pants / light shoes" so im classed as Heavy but only by .3 so will this still work with this build?
I use this build. I have leaching on my Jewelry. I sometimes tank 5 people and as long as I am hitting all of them I keep healing (until help arrives). I am still experimenting with different variations though. I run voidbent head and chest in my medium armor build. I did not have this setup in my recent video though.

Imo you don’t need 150 con with a health necklace. Scale it down to 110 - eat 40 food for war or just go down to 100. With you stealing health as well less of a reason for 150
10% resilient + resilient gear + big amount of health (perks + 150 con + house buff) + A LOT of fortify buffs from void gauntlet (even better with fortified perk 14% longer) = you are so fuckin tanky
I run a similar build but with 50 focus and no forsaken pact (instead I use the one you don't have in the void blade tree). It works pretty much the same as yours, I'm just a bit tankier because I regen as I hit
How can you do so much damage with your basic attack with the firestaff without crit. i dont understand it, in outpostrush i deal only 800-1200 damage and my staff has 590 gearscore with same gem. ~260 Int with bufffood
@@KB-fr6qz Fire staff really isnt that great. Your main ranged damage dealer is Pillar of Fire which is unreliable.
