Thor trained hard. Look at the bulk he lost he looked unrecognisable. Sure his boxing skills weren't incredible but he actually tried to learn the basics and it showed. Thor has long moved on.

@@drama8335 I wouldn't say that. He was very strong and consistent for many years but when there are many others who have 2, 3, 4 and even 5 wins, he's not top 3. He competed with arguably the top 2 strongmen of all time and did very well against them both for almost a decade but he could only pull off 1 title. Just based off consistency and longevity, I would place him no higher than 7th all time great WSM competitors, which is still an absolutely amazing accomplishment.

Personally I cringe every single time when after a lost fight the fighter describes the extent of his pre-fight injuries. Even though I do believe Eddie. I'm glad Thor won, and also glad that Eddie has no reason to be ashamed of the fight.
I agree. no doubt the injury was a significant hindrance on his ability to perform at his best but he accepted the fight knowing that so he should stop going back to it.
Eddie dosn't feel ashamed of losing the fight. He feels ashamed of losing 2017 WSM, but getting the trophy anyway thanks to his friend Bryce. THATS what eats Eddie up every day. To be fair, eddie's training and prep was updated on his channel, the injury was no secret, and he maintained during the entire lead up, before, during and after the fight that it is what it is, and injury will never be an excuse to the outcome, and he never has used it as one. Him speaking about the challenges he has faced is in no way complaining about fairness.

Even tho I wanted Eddie to win just because I'm british, but on the boxing side of it, I'm glad Thor won because he was into it. He was getting more comfortable as the fight went on, but at the end of the day, I'm glad it was done and over because it could all have been dealt with privately
@u04pww2 Considering I've boxed since I was 8 years old yes, I would have no issue in saying it to his fat face. He turned up totally out of shape, his training and diet was appalling (have a look at his vids when he was getting ready for the fight) and Christ only knows who his trainer was as he literally doesn't know how to throw a punch. Forget power and his weight blah blah blah, he had zero technique and zero movement. For the record Thor wasn't much better either, it's just that Eddie had far too much to say for himself. In the press conference he even claimed to be pasting pro boxers in sparring and Thors trainer (ironically a genuine boxing coach, he's Scottish but the name escapes me) called him out on it. Guy is a total fantasist. He talks in his book about all the scraps he had in Stoke as a kid, there's a huge difference between street fight windmilling and being a trained fighter. He's a bigger mockery than Jake Paul as at least Paul got in the ring and beat Woodley twice, Silva and knocked Tommy Fury on his arse.

Eddie showed his true colours at the press conference, offered to fight on the spot infront of his lad and then told thors mother to shup or "quite down" after she said one word to her son. I'm an Edd head but even I can admit that Eddie should've just postponed the fight, I know it sucks feeling weak, or letting the people down or whatever but your physical health is far more important than a boxing match for fun. If Eddie is telling the truth about the torn bicep I hope the recovery process wasn't too bad and it's good to see big guy's back at it!
Ultimately, postpone the fight if that's true. Just an excuse. His training was awful and everyone said at the time. Thor just did better regardless. Accept the L.
Eddie - had to fight one arm Also eddie - in the gym doing things that totally negate ANY bicep worry . He was training in a way u can tell his bicep was fine . But oh can’t throw a hook. He never had a hook. And with drugs it wasn’t healing . I’ve torn a bicep 6-8 weeks it’s healed .

Eddie just didn't take the fight training seriously. He went into that fight way, way too heavy and nowhere near fit enough. Thor on the other hand did everything perfectly, you could see right from the start that he looked much fitter and lighter on his feet. Thor looked like a boxer, Eddie didn't look even close. The better man won.
What was he supposed to do? He couldn't jab. There's no point training boxing if you can't box, you stay big and strong and try and power through. It's the only card to play. Amazing fight to both men.
Eddie should have lost much more weight. That's a 100% true. He is actually a bigger natural athlete than Thor, his coordination is way better and he's more explosive, looks way better boxing. Thor can't dance and has no rhythm but he prepped better and has the reach.
All due respect to Eddie, but even w/o the injury, Thor trained better and more effectively, his technique was far superior. You can see it the whole time leading up to it. And all due respect to Thor, but Eddie won fair and square. You double-dipped. Even if all your reps counted, Eddie took a damn nap in-between. He easily could have squeezed out another rep or two if need be, so you shouldn’t have cried about it.
Eddie's injuries were the result of his own shit training method and inability to listen to his trainer. His stupidity in that regard cost the sponsors, Thor and in extension himself milions. Eddie was lucky Thor humored him to postpone the fight to a date of his own choosing allowing him to heal.
Eddie didnt train for boxing, he trained for powerlifting and strongman while throwing punches. If he had dropped the weights and worked on boxing alone, like Thor, maybe this would be different. He was arrogant and ridiculous.
Eddie Hall did nothing but shit talk other contestents going back to his very first appearances at Britains Strongest Man over a decade ago. He has a snakelike personality. He says Thor tried to "destroy his life". How? By questioning the authenticity of the way the contest in Worlds Strongest Man 2017 was set up? The events in that final were changed, at the last minute, by Colin Bryce the event organizer and Eddie Halls friend and business partner. Those event changes were unprecidented, and only happen in normal cases due to either equipment failure or weather. Neither of which affected the 2017 final. Those event changes FAVOURED Eddie Hall, and went AGAINST Thors strengths. The way that the finals are set up - like all WSM events in history - are to spread the spectrum of strength sports to provide a FAIR playing field of all atheletes. Not to favour one in particular. Luke Stoltman and Tom Stoltman were secretly recorded saying that Colin Bryce had offered them "a deal" in secret, that groups and events would be changed to "favour" them, if they pledged allegiance to his shows and nobody elses. The SAME DEAL, Colin said, that he gave to Eddie Hall in 2017. So, Thor being cheated out of a 1st place victory in 2017, which - if you look at the data and statistics and the tiny 0.5 point Eddie "won" by even WITH those event changes, isn't grounds for the Icelander to call Eddie out? Bryce has since been forced to step down from WSM involvement over all of this. Eddie is a piece of shit. So are the SToltmans, if you ask me. Cheaters need to be outed, ridiculed and then either fined or banned. That's what happens in Tennis, Football, Baseball, etc. Fuck Eddie Hall. He needed to cheat to win, he has talked constant shit for a decade, and he got his ass handed to him in the ring. And HE STILL won't shut up about it, and the playing the victim, and so on and so forth. What a moron.
Strongman events are usually set up to favor very tall men. All the throwing events, arm wrestling, boulder carrying etc. greatly favor competitors with a great reach. It does not take any will power or discipline to grow tall. Eddie sacrificed so much to go against men that where genetically privileged relative to him and still managed to win despite his disadvantages. It's too bad for Thor if the events did not suit him but to change the events sure is not "cheating"; manipulating the results is cheating. EXCEPT 2017, which had a dynamic removed (for no reason) and another static added. Shorter men are FAR better at all static events - the deadlift, the squat, the press, hercules hold, etc. They have shorter levers giving them a huge advantge, and the taller one is, the exponentially harder a static event will be. The events suited Eddie ALSO. Why? Cos there was an even ba;lance of events. THEN the events were CHANGED to favour EDDIE HALL, last minute, by his friend and business partner Colin. It's not "too bad" they didn't favour Thor, is it? It was done by malicious design. We already know this. Hence why Colin was forced to step down. Hence why he cited "Thors Lawyers" as the reason. Hence the Stoltman admission on the secret recording. Hence reality. If the events had remained UNCHANGED, Thor have won. Because the events were changed, EDDIE HALL won. If a static event had been removed and replaced with another medley, Thor would have won by a HUGE margin. As it was, even with an extra static put in and a dynamic removed (BY BRYCE FOR EDDIE HALL) - Eddie still only managed to win by 0.5 points. Gary Taylor was a short guy. 4 inches shorter than Eddie Hall, at around 5 feet 11 inches. He won WSM WITHOUT and "special favours" and when he lost, or underperformed, he didn't blame anyone else or anything else, he simply tried harder. He even failed to put a single implement onto a pedestal at the beach fetch and carry for 50 seconds! Because of his height! BUT he absolutely monsteres the overhead press and deadlift and squat events. Which EVENED it out. Webster didn't "cheat" for him, and reduced the pedestal height, or remove that event and put in a viking press, did he? Cos that wou;d have been CORRUPT, wouldn't it? XD See what I'm getting at, sweety? Eddie is no underdog. He's a CHEATER. A SNAKE. And he didn't deserve to WIN 2017. He was hadnded it by his friend, in secret, and nefariously.

I watched that fight, and it seemed to me that Eddie only had one fight plan, and that was to king hit Thor and knock him out. When he couldn't do that, he just didn't know what else to do.
He did catch Thor real good at least once during the match, but Thor's got a thick skull and a sturdy chin. Most people wouldn't have bounced back up that fast, if at all, from taking a punch from Eddie Hall.

@@drama8335 I wouldn't say that. He was very strong and consistent for many years but when there are many others who have 2, 3, 4 and even 5 wins, he's not top 3. He competed with arguably the top 2 strongmen of all time and did very well against them both for almost a decade but he could only pull off 1 title.
Just based off consistency and longevity, I would place him no higher than 7th all time great WSM competitors, which is still an absolutely amazing accomplishment.

Personally I cringe every single time when after a lost fight the fighter describes the extent of his pre-fight injuries. Even though I do believe Eddie. I'm glad Thor won, and also glad that Eddie has no reason to be ashamed of the fight.

He turned up totally out of shape, his training and diet was appalling (have a look at his vids when he was getting ready for the fight) and Christ only knows who his trainer was as he literally doesn't know how to throw a punch. Forget power and his weight blah blah blah, he had zero technique and zero movement. For the record Thor wasn't much better either, it's just that Eddie had far too much to say for himself. In the press conference he even claimed to be pasting pro boxers in sparring and Thors trainer (ironically a genuine boxing coach, he's Scottish but the name escapes me) called him out on it. Guy is a total fantasist. He talks in his book about all the scraps he had in Stoke as a kid, there's a huge difference between street fight windmilling and being a trained fighter. He's a bigger mockery than Jake Paul as at least Paul got in the ring and beat Woodley twice, Silva and knocked Tommy Fury on his arse.

Eddie just didn't take the fight training seriously. He went into that fight way, way too heavy and nowhere near fit enough. Thor on the other hand did everything perfectly, you could see right from the start that he looked much fitter and lighter on his feet. Thor looked like a boxer, Eddie didn't look even close. The better man won.
What was he supposed to do? He couldn't jab. There's no point training boxing if you can't box, you stay big and strong and try and power through. It's the only card to play. Amazing fight to both men.
Eddie should have lost much more weight. That's a 100% true. He is actually a bigger natural athlete than Thor, his coordination is way better and he's more explosive, looks way better boxing. Thor can't dance and has no rhythm but he prepped better and has the reach.

The events in that final were changed, at the last minute, by Colin Bryce the event organizer and Eddie Halls friend and business partner. Those event changes were unprecidented, and only happen in normal cases due to either equipment failure or weather. Neither of which affected the 2017 final. Those event changes FAVOURED Eddie Hall, and went AGAINST Thors strengths. The way that the finals are set up - like all WSM events in history - are to spread the spectrum of strength sports to provide a FAIR playing field of all atheletes. Not to favour one in particular.
Luke Stoltman and Tom Stoltman were secretly recorded saying that Colin Bryce had offered them "a deal" in secret, that groups and events would be changed to "favour" them, if they pledged allegiance to his shows and nobody elses. The SAME DEAL, Colin said, that he gave to Eddie Hall in 2017.
So, Thor being cheated out of a 1st place victory in 2017, which - if you look at the data and statistics and the tiny 0.5 point Eddie "won" by even WITH those event changes, isn't grounds for the Icelander to call Eddie out? Bryce has since been forced to step down from WSM involvement over all of this.

Strongman events are usually set up to favor very tall men. All the throwing events, arm wrestling, boulder carrying etc. greatly favor competitors with a great reach. It does not take any will power or discipline to grow tall. Shorter men are FAR better at all static events - the deadlift, the squat, the press, hercules hold, etc. They have shorter levers giving them a huge advantge, and the taller one is, the exponentially harder a static event will be.

The events DID suit Thor in 2017. The events suited Eddie ALSO. Why? Cos there was an even ba;lance of events. If the events had remained UNCHANGED, Thor have won. Because the events were changed, EDDIE HALL won. If a static event had been removed and replaced with another medley, Thor would have won by a HUGE margin. As it was, even with an extra static put in and a dynamic removed (BY BRYCE FOR EDDIE HALL) - Eddie still only managed to win by 0.5 points.
Gary Taylor was a short guy. 4 inches shorter than Eddie Hall, at around 5 feet 11 inches. He won WSM WITHOUT and "special favours" and when he lost, or underperformed, he didn't blame anyone else or anything else, he simply tried harder. He even failed to put a single implement onto a pedestal at the beach fetch and carry for 50 seconds! Because of his height! BUT he absolutely monsteres the overhead press and deadlift and squat events. Which EVENED it out. Webster didn't "cheat" for him, and reduced the pedestal height, or remove that event and put in a viking press, did he? Cos that wou;d have been CORRUPT, wouldn't it? XD

I watched that fight, and it seemed to me that Eddie only had one fight plan, and that was to king hit Thor and knock him out. When he couldn't do that, he just didn't know what else to do.
He did catch Thor real good at least once during the match, but Thor's got a thick skull and a sturdy chin. Most people wouldn't have bounced back up that fast, if at all, from taking a punch from Eddie Hall.

I see a lot of people saying Eddie didn't win the fight that's a matter of perspective sure on record he lost fair and square but he won because of his strength he stepped into the ring injured prepared to fight a man in good condition and he even knocked him down and landed a good amount of punches he's the real winner in my eyes
Eddie had no boxing skill at all. He was just waiting to land a big haymaker. Thor stuck to the basic stance he’s been taught and had some rudimentary boxing ability.
