Nissan GTR Engine Dry Sump Plumbing!

- A dry sump oil system is when you have an oil pan that essentially is "dry", as in, it does not hold the capacity of the engine oil and there is an external reservoir that holds the oil as well as an external oil pump to build the necessary pressure. Therefore there are a bunch of lines that need to run from the pump to the reservoir, the filter, and the engine itself.
This is getting us another step closer to firing the car up!

How can this build series be so under viewed? Jesus, it was on hoonigan, and it's barely got 10k views a video? This needs more attention.
10:24 I see the star of the show has arrived.
JIMMMIIIIEEEEEEEE THE MAN!!! It’s looking good man!! caught the Modelo for that Quick second lol 🍻🍻
Build is moving fast. Always great to have a crew who knows what to do!
When Chris tightens stuff up its gets to the stage I'm thinking its all good, then he gives it about 180 degrees 😂💪
The three builds for 2021 I'm most excited for, not in any particular order are:
1- This Altimaniac
2- Ryan Tuercks Formula Supra
3- Mike Finnegans 200mph Caddy
Cleetus’ mullet elco built by ksr fab is gonna put ruby to shame
What was that billet alloy thing that mounted down under the car that he put the 2 fittings in mid way through the vid?
Was wondering the same thing
its a post engine oil filter.
With a hood that long you gotta put a Datsun badge on it!
Hi - I've converted my 370Z to a dry sump system and have oil overfilling the breather can. I've vented the valve covers to the dry sump tank, and the dry sump tank is vented to a breather can.
How are you venting the valve covers and connecting the breather can in your set up for the GTR?
The base of the windshield is a high pressure area tho
Not for what there doing . a actual high speed race car would be a different story
@@robvanderkroft6515 The principles remain the same wether going 1 kph or a 1000 kph. I understand that for a drift car many things are less important, but you can’t say they just fabricated a vent there, it’ll still behave as a intake unless there is some ducting from a even higher pressure area routed to it
@@TofumanFC3S yes but when your sideways most of the time vs going straight ish most of the time the aero matters alot less. And its explained that its used to release heat from the engine bay
@@robvanderkroft6515 But in reality it will act as an intake into the engine bay, increasing pressure in the engine bay making the pressure differential over the front mounted coolers less substantial and decreasing their effectiveness. All the while ofc. trapping even more air into the engine bay making cooling harder. That was my whole point.
Again, I understand things don’t matter as much on a drift car and angles of air flow vary more, but that just means a bad idea might turn out slightly less bad. One should probably consider starting with a good idea (like locating the vent in low pressure zone more forward of the bonnet) and even if that performs less, it’s still probably nett a positive thing
@@TofumanFC3S do you have any hands on motorsport experience? It won't act as a intake as the exhaust is coming out either side of it and the hot air from the engine bay will be forced out of that plate. Plus its a fun/demo car so all those little things don't matter as much . In a sport that requires down force it would be different but aero that actually works properly is very few and far between in drift cars
do you have nay concern that one day the vibrations of drifting could snap your shifter setup?
Is that suspension from a corvette?
I thought it was either R35 GTR or 370Z stuff but to be completely honest I'm not sure, I think he mentions what it's from in one of the earlier Altimaniac episodes
I missed it, is this his 2021 FD car?
Definitely not, FD doesn’t allow full tube chassis builds. I’ve been thinking it might replace his m35 ride along car since this will get 4 seats.
@@christianclausen5848 Awesome, thanks. I thought I saw seat brackets for the back, but wasn't sure.
