Well according to a theory, Ganondorf gave a portion of his power to Zant and when he tries to use that power again to pull the same trick he did during his "execution", Zant, who was still linked to Ganondorf by that power and after seeing Ganondorf's true face... crack his neck as a form of "Nope !" to Ganondorf.
Sounds like a fitting end for me
Pretty sure the crack is saying, nope I’m dead sorry bro
Surprised Girahim wasn't even an honorable mention. Fantastic character, fancy swordplay(even if SS's swordplay can be jank at the best of times), and both repeats take what he showed you in the previous battle and ramp it up. I know SS isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he's one of my personal favorite fights in the series.
Here here!
I agree! He is SUPER creepy and just plain evil!
Agreed. Final Ghirahim is my second favorite boss from Skyward Sword.
...Second to Koloktos, of course.
Maybe it’s because Girahim was more loved for his villain qualities rather than his boss fight. Although, kind of odd since this channel seems to adore him
I recently fought him for the final time then fought demise, they were pretty fun fights, I almost died to demise
In Breath of the Wild I go more for Vah Naboris and Thunderblight Ganon. Mostly because of how dynamic the fight with Vah Naboris is and the challenge that really is Thunderblight Ganon.
Agreed. Naboris was a much more fun fight with incredible music, and Thunderblight was insanely hard, especially if you save it for last since the Blights get more difficult with each one killed.
Personally my favorite Ganondorf is Twilight Princess. I loved how it felt like an epic fight and I found myself yelling at him "WHY WONT YOU JUST DIE!!" But thats just my opinion and I never played Windwaker since everytime I tried to play it my ex, who was my gf at the time, would hog it and took (stole) it with her in the break up.
Yes! Zant! Thank you!
I always thought Zant was the perfect depiction of a man granted huge amounts of godlike power but who had no idea how to actually use it. Less of a child on sugar and more like a bullied child being given a flamethrower.
His fight extenuates this, by having him use the tactics of previous bosses against you instead of his own strategy. Then, when he runs out of options, he pulls out his swords and goes nuts because what else can he do? Nothing else has worked!!
Plus, with each of his phases, the music gets faster and more frantic, as he loses any semblance of restraint or sanity. By the final phase, he's little more than an oversized child throwing a temper tantrum!
the juxstaposition is great. zant seems so cold and calculating through the entire game, only to reveal the true insanity behind that mask (both figurative AND literal) when Link and Midna finally make their way to the Twilight Realm and confront him. Every scene prior Zant has been in constant control, no one able to oppose 'his' power, and thus he had nothing to fear. But when hero and companion circumvent everything he threw at them and make their way to him? He can no longer rely on that dominating power imbalance and starts to panic.
The fight itself even starts to gradually become more and more insane with each phase. Zant keeps some composure at the start as he hops from pillars to fire down at you, but soon devolves into pathetically swimming underwater back to giant zant helmets and making himself giant til link stubs his toe causing him to shrink down to minisize while clutching his foot in pain. By the last phase he's at max panic, all his tricks failed to stop Link so all he has left is blindly swinging like the maniac he is til the ursuper king finally draws his last breath.
I personally hate it that most people don't give Demise from Skyward Sword any love.
It's a mano-a-mano fight. No special stage item, no dungeon to travel through, just the first hero and the first villain fighting.
Oh that's a easy one. Hes extremely easy. Catch lightning, swing sword done.
The first time I fought him, I didn't use the lightning.
@@Zerathenezot I beg to differ. When I fought him on Skyward Sword HD, I literally had to rely on invincibility potions to finally get a win because I couldn't get the hang of the lightning skyward strike.
@@providence1517 hate to be that guy but that sounds more of a personal skill problem. Pointing the sword straight up is extremely easy and same with swinging it.
He's my favorite of the ganondorf incarnations. A because he's the original and B because he gives it his all in phase 2 at least, though phase 1 does show just how much of his arrogance passes down through his reincarnations. Regarding final bosses in Zelda, he would easily be number 2 right behind Majora.
I'm very surprised that Ghirahim wasn't on the list
I love how Ganondorf quickly realized how much of a pain in the ass Zelda was and briefly knocked her out.
He actually LEARNED something for once.
Im honestly shocked that Monk Maz Koshia wasn't on this list in any form, that is one of the most enjoyable boss fights I've ever encountered
Now that you mention it, yeah. Where is Monk Maz Koshia for this list???
Koloktos, Stallord, and Ocarina of Time's Ganon fight first come to mind as some of the best; no arguments here.
Odolwa and no one else
I personally would argue that Ganondorf from Tears of the kingdom is a better boss than Ganondorf from Wind Waker. He changes weapons constantly, keeping you guessing his attack patterns. His attacks can reduce your maximum hearts. He also clones himself, and doubles his massive health bar in the middle of the fight. If that wasn't enough, he can dodge, and flurry rush your attacks.
Notes to add on:
Goht is a worse fight in the 3DS remake, forcing you to de transform to shoot it with arrows which just takes away from the fight.
Vah Ruta's music is f*cking gorgeous.
I'd rather a boss I can't cheese unless it's too difficult
Honestly, all the MM bosses, save maybe Gyorg, are worse in the 3DS remake.
I wish Ghirahim had gotten on this list somewhere, but I like all your picks. Maybe an honorable mention?
Same with dungeons, I'll just be listing my fav bosses from each game I've played and completed.
1. Ocarina of Time- Bongo Bongo- fav Zelda boss period. I should mention that the Shadow Temple is also my 2nd fav dungeon in the game and this boss is a major reason why. It's just so fun! I normally dislike having to pay attention to multiple things in a boss fight, but this is one of those exceptions because the boss really doesn't overwhelm you. A lot of people love the boss of Tower of the Gods in WW, but they forget this was the predecessor.
2. Windwaker- Gohma- Rare for a first boss battle to be my fav, but this is one of those times. It took me awhile to figure out how to beat this boss when I first played it, but when I did, it was so satisfying! I love the added humor, which I feel is WW's biggest strength in the game (the humor).
3. Twilight Princess- Ganondorf- Fav final boss in the series. This is also my brother's fav boss battle too. One simple sword fight against your greatest nemesis, and it's glorious! I love how it tests your secret sword abilities and when you clash swords against Ganondorf.
4. Link Between Worlds- Stalblind- I like how you have to use your merge ability to outwit this boss. Also by this point I have the Fire Rod too and I love using it against this boss lol.
5. Breath of the Wild- Master Kohga- Probably the funniest boss battle in the franchise. I hated the stealth part leading up to it, so this boss battle is always a treat lol. I do have one major complaint about the boss battles in this game though, they should NOT be easier than the sub-bosses in this game. It's kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Oh I do want to give an honorable mention for this one because one thing the game does that is unique is make the 'dungeons' fight back, so I also want to mention my fav Divine Beast fight- Vah Medoh because I love shooting arrows and it's satisfying hitting the mark. Vah Ruta comes at a close 2nd though because it's a bit more riveting.
*Watches video* Finally someone who enjoys the Zant fight as much as me. As a whole I enjoy ALL of the Twilight Princess bosses (when I did my own written list years ago it had the most turn out. FYI, Stallord made that list too). And guys, so what if MM is sweeping the top spots, it's his channel and he loves it lol.
So we're going to do fav Chars huh? I wonder if Josh will pick his fav versions of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf.
I also enjoyed Kohga, seeing that the Yiga clan is basically led by a pudgy looney tune was soooo funny to me.
Bongo Bongo is an absolute favorite of mine too, also for the lore behind him. A (presumably Sheikah) thief who stole the Lens of Truth and, as an appropriate punishment for the time period, had his hands chopped off. He gets bonus points from me for his dungeon’s ambience as well as being a fellow drum player.
My favorite of the Breath of the Wild bosses is Vah Medoh/Windblight Gannon. This one, unlike the others, doesn’t have a mandatory, incredibly stressful stealth mission or escort mission. Instead, it’s an epic soar through the sky where you’re raining down Bomb arrows on the beast. The puzzles are fun, and the blight is fun to fight
If you stock up on Ancient Arrows the Vah Rudania stealth/escort section isn’t so bad because you can just rain hell on the sentries with Ancient Arrows and they never notice you. The stealth mission in the Yiga Hideout in the Vah Naboris quest on the other hand can kiss my ass! As can that entire quest actually. I love Urbosa and Riju was pretty cool as a partner I guess, but the Vah Naboris quest line was just a total drag!
Vah Medoh was the only Divine Beast that I actually respect. The fight was epic, the "dungeon" was creative enough, and the boss fight against Windblight Ganon was easily one of my favorites just based on how you had to keep on your toes because of how accurate its shots were. I only wish I could face it more than once per playthrough, cause that boss was fun.
@@KingCasual1986 Not to mention Thunderblight Ganon is aneurysm central. It took me 6 tries with extra health to final put this mofo down. One of the most unfair bosses in the series.
Then I suppose it’s more of a hot take to say that the Yiga Hideout + Vah Naboris is my favorite of the BotW dungeons? I usually complete it 1st or 2nd out of all the Divine Beast quest lines in any playthrough (Medoh too for getting Revali’s Gale ASAP.)
@@CTSael I personally find the stealth segment too stressful and Thunderblight too insanely difficult, but I respect the fact that different people have different preferences
What would a Zelda game be without Boss fights? (Not the CD-I ones, they don’t count.)
But where else other than CD-I can you commit cellular genocide on Hectan and smile like an idiot about it?
@@CountShaman we don’t talk about that either...
Shots fired!
The CD-I games have bosses they just last 5 seconds
We don't speak of those ones.
4:27-6:17 For those who want to be adventurous. When Koloktos swings his Cutlasses at Link, if you time it right Link can shield bash Koloktos and knock him back a bit. But it takes proper timing, trust it’s shocking but also fun and amazing which makes you wonder how hardcore the Skyloft Academy really is.
I wouldn't credit the academy as much as the experience and strength Link got from his journey up 'till that point.
I should have expected Majora as #1 because it is the most twisted and enigmatic villain in the Zelda series. I'm glad that Koloktos made it on to the list though.
Another thing about Zant is that each of his boss phase references previous bosses and tests you. Kinda like a Final Exam of sorts.
I was convinced he was gonna make Ghirahim number 1. And I'm just as convinced number 1 next time will be fishsticks.
My honorable mentions:
Ganon (Super Smash Bros Ultimate)
This one gets points from me because in World Of Light, you can take this guy one as any character you’ve unlocked at that point. And yes, this includes Ganondorf himself.
Ghirahim (Skyward Sword)
His tongue is mightier than his swords.
Monk Maz Koshia (Breath Of The Wild DLC)
Don’t mess with the monk, or he will monk you up!
Phantom Ganon (Ocarina Of Time)
Suavemente intensifies!
Koloktos is kinda creepy, the laughter as they die is unsettling and makes me think they are powered by the soul of a child. It’s like the soul is happy to have death again.
I really liked the boss in Phantom Hourglass' temple of courage, turning invisible with you having to aim by seeings its point of view
Yeah, there are more dignified sword fights that I would put higher on a list of them, but the final phase of the Zant fight definitely has a place on that list.
as chuggaaconroy once said "SWORD....TO THE FOREHEAD!!!!"
"HOY THERE SMALL FRY!" Get my dynamite, I'm going fishing.
And, once more, you show yourself to be a man of taste and refinement.
The three phases of Majora are an exceptional pick!
Didn’t that big golden robot also have a child’s laugh as its death sound?
YEP.
"Niether do I."
Dude, I work at a bookstore which still sells them.
Never seen anyone buy them, but that is besides the point.
How about a Top 10 Worst Zelda Bosses?
Morpha
_A Link Between Worlds_ gives us an upgraded version of the Helmasaur King called the Gemasaur King. While destroying the mask is similar, it also attacks by rushing at you in the darkness until you light 4 candles.
The Legend of Zelda bosses here are a treat to behold. I wasn't surprised to see Koloktos, Stallord, WW Ganondorf, and Major's Mask to pop up. Speaking of the latter, don't be off-put by others' comments on Majora's Mask. It's your list afterward. You do what you believe is best.
My favorite of these bosses has to be Zant from Twilight Princess. Between the story and the gameplay, it's amazing I love how you have to adapt in each phase and remember what you use in that moment to progress in the fight. It's a nice way to test people on memory and recognition. I also love the music for it. Each phase is a twisted version of the theme associated with the corresponding arena. The music gets even crazier as the fight goes on which signifies Zant's sanity falling even further. It all culminates in the final phase where Zant goes absolutely psychotic. All he cares about at that point is turning Link into flesh bits. The fight was superb for me. The build-up, the subversion, the gameplay, and the music. Easily one of my favorites.
I say, people, it's a top ten. Aka, someone's opinion. You can't objectivify something liek a top ten boss fight. I wish he didn't have to appolgize. Top ten have been and will be always opinion based.
Molgera gets my vote just from the badass theme alone
My 2nd favorite it got overthrown by the rito boss fight in totk.
@@heroofmasks Am I the only one disappointed with that TotK boss’s name? It’s just a one-letter difference from Molgera when it could have been something more creative.
@@CTSael could been diffrent but it's the same boss but more of a ice variant but hey better then marble ghoma
I have a different opinion on every phase of Majora, the mask, awesome build up and fight, Majora's Incarnation, weird and even spooky in my personal opinion, Majora's Wrath, frusttating but satisfying to beat.
Interesting that you went with Vah Ruta (I do agree it's a great fight) over Maz Koshia, who is the best boss in BoTW and it's not even close (though since it's DLC I understand). Also surprised Girahim and Helmaroc King didn't make it.
Come on! NO place for Ghirahim? Not even an honorable mention?!?
Majora is a beloved Chaotic Evil being, I'm not surprised you put it there. If it wasn't for Tears of the Kingdom's battle against Ganondorf, this would also be my number 1. Totk's Ganondorf feels like the True final test of the game to see if you deserve the ending, and is also far more epic. To put that Ganondorf in a different pov, it's the Gamecube trailer of that 1v1 between Link and him 22 years later, and also far more strategic😻😻😻
One aspect about Zant I love is how his fight is the epitome of him being a usurper. He got the power that let him kick Midna off the throne by borrowing magic from Ganondorf to claim a title that wasn't his to claim so what does his fight boil down to? Stealing the ideas from 5 opponents you bested previously (Diababa, the Goron guard, Morpheel, Blizzeta, & even the parasite that was possessing Ook the Baboon) before FINALLY saying "screw it" & giving you an honest duel in neutral ground where it looks like he barely knows how to swing his own weapon in the animations. The fact that all the phases that have gimmicks aren't even HIS gimmicks is the perfect culmination of the one known as the Usurper of Twilight.
14:15 "This Rahi isn't _in_ the room, it _is_ the room!"
I don’t blame you Josh for putting Majora number 1. Majora was and still is a fantastic boss with an interesting backstory. So much so that the Majora’s Mask manga actually mentions how Majora wasn’t initially a mask but a monster that was sealed inside a mask and was sealed away until the dark tribe used him for their rituals. All in all that would mean that Majora was sealed twice and both times that he was released he caused worldwide devastation to the denizens in Termina.
my favorite fight HAS to be the fight with Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom
Love your videos, Josh! I’ve been a fan for years, and you always know how to balance reviews with great proportions of your opinion and humor. Can’t wait for the next one, and I hope you, your wife, and your twins are doing very well!
I don't see anything wrong with Majora being so high on the list. Majora is a one-time boss in the franchise, has great build-up, and is one of the most chaotic bosses in the franchise.
Ngl, I was tickled pink to see Majora at the #1 spot. It's easily one of my favorite boss battles of all time. It's my favorite part of Majora's Mask and great end to an amazing game.
Title card Ganondorf: What do you MEAN I'm only 4th place?!
So awesome to see Majora on the list! Been watching for years ever since the two part top ten horror bosses with Alex! Although I am curious why Giriham isn't a honorable mention, there was a lot of tough competition I say! Good job!
"Me Ganon. Me king of all evil. Me destined to defeat world in vengeance for my people. Me scheme for decades. Me stock every dungeon with the item needed to DEFEAT THE FUCKING BOSS, INCLUDING ME GANON."
Stallord is one of my favorite bosses in any video game ever! I'll never forget the absolute rush it was to fight against it!
And major points for the very apropos use of Smooth Criminal.
Well that was, interesting and fun to watch on a Thursday night.
Ganon: Put me at #1, "Or else you will DIE!"
Josh: .........no.
Ganon: 😢😢😢😢
Wow. Majora's Mask takes home the gold for the third time in Zelda Month. I have no words.
i think Goht is the demon Darmani mentions, the same one that killed him. the battle is basically avenging the Goron hero. it's like as if Bambi took on the hunter that killed his mother. which didn't happen.
I'm happy Zant got as high as he did. Though I disagree with Windwaker Ganondorf being the best fight with him. Yeah yeah, there's the whole "all three characters are in the fight" schtick, but the fight itself I found kind of frustrating due to how much he can stun lock you. Also, while the death is metal, it is a bit undermined by the cartoony graphics, and there's no blood. Zelda ain't no kids game people. Breath of the Wild had the Ganons spray their blood equivalent everywhere when they died.
Twilight Princess Ganon is the best imo because of how climactic it feels. It's one of the few times where Ganondorf actually dies at the end, and the atmosphere and music complete the fight. Also, it does have the "all three characters are in the fight schtick" with the prior phase of Link and Zelda fighting him on horseback throughout Hyrule Field. That's just more epic to me. Plus, there's the fact that Ganondorf is not only stabbed in the same place he was during his execution, but he also DIES STANDING UP still refusing to give up even in death! Yeah, Windwaker Ganon also died standing up, but he just accepted his fate in a single sentence. Lame.
Is ganondorf in Twilight Princess your favorite Zelda boss, or is it majora ?
@@DarkH10 Ganondorf easily.
I hope for mid-bosses to also be a list.
Girahim not on the list not even in the honorable mention is absolute injustice
Don't worry Josh. I agree with you on Majora's Mask. The game and the fight. It's great.
Best quote I've heard about Goht.
"Damn it nintendo, why did you have to make a better sonic boss than Sega?"
10:08 That's why he is the Goht!! The Goht!!!
2:42 Shoutout to those who know where this audio clip comes from. Such a wild obscure pull
I like the puzzle style format
Honestly, I'm not hurt by #1 in these last videos
Majora's Mask is probably my favorite Zelda game as well
For an old topic, let’s bring back an old saying
*flame shield up*
That Jimmy Neutron joke was so freaking gold, man!
i know that tears is the new kid on the block but the ganondorf fight in that game is by far the best. his backstory is lackluster but his boss fight puts the other three to shame.
the water temple boss in totk is incredibly goofy and i love him so much
Another thing I like about Wind Waker's Ganondorf is that he seemed the most human of his incarnations, at least as far as his motivations go. He wanted Hyrule because the world of which he was the ruler was a desert world, where the wind brought only desolation and death. Hyrule, on the other hand, was brought light and life when the wind blew. He didn't like the cards he was dealt, so he wanted a better hand. To that end, he was willing keep himself from killing both Zelda and Link in order to gain the Triforce. It was only when the means of getting what he wanted was snatched away from him right in front of his eyes that all sense of civility abandoned him. This was a tragic version of Ganondorf.
i think Demise was a good fight too. good list doe
7:51 yes I do. That shit was my childhood and Beyblade Metal Masters still holds up as a great show even today!
God this feels so classic!
Stallord is my favorite TP boss. Hate his dungeon (easily freaked out) but love the boss. Looks cool, using the spinner was cool...just a good fight.
its ironic you say that about ganondorf since he canonically is a planner and schemer, just look at the story behind OOT or ALTTP, he worked from the shadows, planning and manipulating people to do his bidding., id say his real problem is once he thinks he has won and has the power THAT is when he abandons thinking and goes for just power
Top 10 Zelda Items or characters.
23:23 Top 10 Zelda characters,all right.
Can’t wait for it next week.😁
Twinrova from Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite Zelda bosses.
I am so happy because this video is airing on my birthday🎉
Huh, not even an honorable mention for either Ghirahim or Blizetta
This is why I love Majora’s Mask!
I am geuinely shocked Girahem didnt show up AT ALL!! NOT EVEN HONORABLE MENTIONS! 0-0
One of the biggest reasons I loved Majoras mask as a villain was because it was an antagonist that ISN'T RELATED TO GANONDORF AT ALL
Majora wasn't some reincarnation of Ganon
Majora wasn't corrupted/possessed by Ganon
Majora didn't want to revive Ganon
No, it was a monster on it's own, not lusting over any triforce of power because it already HAD the power to end the world on it's own, don't get me wrong I like Ganondorf as a villain, he's iconic as hell but something about Majora being it's own villain not related to or affiliated with Ganondorf is a breath of fresh air, almost as if it's telling you "hey Ganondorf isn't the ONLY force of evil in this world!"
The Zant battle has always been a favorite of mine especially for its escalating insanity throughout.
That's also probably why I love the Majora fight from Majora's Mask too.
Same here. I love the Zant fight with that being one of the reasons. As the fight progresses, Zant loses more and more of his sanity until he goes psychotic in the final phase. The music even reflects that as well.
The dragon in Ocharina of time becomes more tragic if you reqd the manga.
Huh, fair and valid points and opinions, I will look forward to see the Zelda Month Finale.
Koloktos might as well be Chakravartin's tin toy since it has Buddhist symbolism.
No Ghirahim? No Monk Maz Koshia?? No Dark Link??? And Majora at #1????
I will give you props for mentioning that the Divine Beasts are also bosses. Though I'd have picked Vah Nabooris for the sheer fun factor
Who wants to guess that Josh will choose the Happy Mask Salesman for number 1 on the next list?
One of these days I need to play through Majora
I’m hoping Anju and Kafe share a spot on the next list.
Their side quest is easily one of the highlight of majora’s mask.
And that’s not even getting into the tragic implication at the end.
7:50 speaking of Beyblade they just announced a new generation called Beyblade X which focuses more on competitive sports
All right let's see which bosses need bashes then it's back to tears of the king... I mean work!
10. These witches are one of the many highlights of the games.
9. Haven't fought this boss yet, stupid Moldorm!
8. Yeah best boss in the game! Doesn't make up for the three imprisoned fights. Also loved the Last Wish reference since I watched the movie recently.
7. While I do like this game the only reason I remember this game is GS talking about it recently and how good it was.
6. Blizzeta is my pick for this game but this boss is a close second.
5. Yeah I love this fight... much more than Gyorg
4. I'm all for this fight as well!
3. Figures you'd be all in for the zoras. That said I did go for this dungeon first during my run so...
2. The first villain (other than Ganon) that made himself known!
1. Another majora's mask entry... well at least he tried... maybe mister mummy can top that... who knows...
Love this list! But I basically just agree on everything except three things. Bind, (Never played or watched a LP of Between Worlds.) Goht. Is not one of my favorite, but I also the one that runs into walls constantly, so ya. And three, Stallord Needs to be higher. Come on, he's better then Zant.
I wonder what he feels about ganondorf's tears of the kingdom fight, especially the fact that he trades his english fantasy apperance for an asian samurai get up.
AND I WONDER WHAT WOULD HE THINK ABOUT THE CDI ZELDA CHARACTERS
If you ever do this again, maybe make lists of the different iterations of Zelda or Ganon. Or maybe Link, but that might be hard.
Ok. Majora needs to return at some point.
Not Majora’s Mask, but Majora. The entity sealed within the mask.
Personally, at least as far as difficulty that didn't dip too far into unfair territory, I liked Imprisoned Beast's 2nd form from Skyward Sword. First form was easy, just slash its toes then walk around to drive the spike into its head. 2nd form added challenge by adding a toe in the back of the foot and fingers on its new arms you have to slash too, and it now sends shockwaves with each step, it tries to take shortcuts by climbing up the wall rather than just walking up the ramp, and when you slash all its fingers and toes- you can't just walk around to drive the spike in anymore, its new arms take up the width of the path, you have to either be on the right side of it when it falls down (which is difficult) or drop down a level and use the updrafts to go back up a level by its head to drive the spike in before it gets up. But then they made it easier in its 3rd form, when it tries to fly just make the easy shot at it with the catapult and send it back down. Lame.
Actually I think Zant straight up broke his own neck, therefore killing Ganondorf.
Hey would win a fight?
Midna VS Twilight Sparkle ?
Honestly im happy Majora made at as the top boss. I love Ganondorf/Ganon but Majora imo is by far a more greater threat than him. He wants to rule a world of darkness whereas Majora will literally drop astral objects onto you just out of sheer boredom and the sheer fact they can do it so effortlessly plus its hellishly chaotic music and screams take a true backseat of the terrifying considering that to this thing your not fighting an eldritch horror to save the world, he's just fighting you becauses you seem to be the next bit of entertainment that is currently being offered to them and they want to savor every second which is why I think he has tendrils and whip like appendages as he wants it to last as long as he can.
Josh: Makes the McDonald's pose.
Me: *Sees it*
Me : You just ruined my work place for me, and I have to be there tomorrow.😮💨
I'm shocked, down right impressed number one wasn't Ghirahim
BOTW Ganondorf is my current favorite (yet to see the newest but getting close!). I'm sorry, but...............LOOK! AT! HIM! OH MY FREAKING LINKY JESUS IS HE THE EPITOME OF MONSTROUS! He's like am amalgamation of everything you've fought previously put together! And the fact, the VERY FACT, you can fight him as soon as you finish the tutorial, choosing between going straight at him and facing off against the full might of his power + generals, or taking your time by building up your own strength, gathering your own power, then taking him on with the help of the divine beasts NAILING down on him with their power, it feels beyond immersive, and that to me, deserves the #1 spot, if not at the very least the best Ganondorf fight to date~
Personally, I generally like fights that don't involve a lot of waiting around and allow you to be pro-active in making progress. Being able to attack strike at any time is cool. Or if you have to wait on stuff, let us do something to expedite the process, at least. Simply having to wait for the boss to do a specific thing where they make themselves vulnerable is just a bit lame. And also, spectacle goes a long way to making a fight memorable.
I can imagine why Ghirahim might not be on the list, especially depending on how you feel about Skyward Sword's swordfighting controls, but I think it is a great example of the above. It's a fight where you don't really wait around. You have to go on the attack, but do so cleverly, and then on the second phase, you get the chance to actively counter his attacks. Sending his darts back at him, timing a good shield bash, that stuff is cool.
And while his first 2 fights aren't exactly much spectacle, they bear a significance. You're already fighting the most prominent villain of the game in the first dungeon, that's awesome. It builds a connection with the villain, makes any encounter feel more personal.
And I think that's great for a game like Skyward Sword, which has a more character-driven narrative than that most Zelda games.
