A mechanic after my own heart. Mother in law bought a 2015 Dodge Dart 2.4L with Multi Air Codes on #3 cylinder within two weeks. I am confident there is a way to service these valves and solenoids despite the 'experts' claiming the whole unit must be replaced.
Hello there, did you have any luck getting your MiL’s Dodge Dart’s hydraulic solenoid valves serviced. Or, did you end up having to replace the MA brick entirely? Thanks for your response.
@susianatjiu6850 I have not torn into it yet. Mostly due to time, andvpartialy due to expense. I opted for a cleanse in process in hope of curing the sticking solenoid. Decided to change the oil religiously (no not every sunday and holidays) but like this 1 twice in two weeks. Then every 4-5 weeks four times. Now every 12 weeks. The day before I change it I add about half cup of (Dont try this!!) Xylene into the oil. Run it up to temperature and then leave it sit overnight and drain it. The oil must be kept clean and full. Last I checked there were no codes. AGAIN.. I'm not telling anyone to try that method. Do your own research. Make your own choices.
That basically an hydraulic tappet. 16 of mine were stuck with slugde and gunk. I opened them all, cleaned with degreaser and charged with oil before assembling them back. No tickticktick since the first start up. Make sure to use fully synthetic oil and keep on your regular oil changes.
I have dodge dart 2015 2.4l l have problem ….i have codes P0304 cylinder 4 misfire. P1064 cylinder 4 oil supply solenoid valve stuck . P106B cylinder 4 oil supply solenoid valve switch on time out of range . How solution?!
Victor, do you have any information on the clean out and charging of the tappets? How far did you go with stripping them? Do you have any kind of guide on this? I've had my multiair off this weekend, tappets dropped out on 3 of the valves when I lifted it off. Used some 0.5mm spring steel wire to form retainer clips and put it all back together. Seems fine, pulls really well again, but there is a clicking/tappety noise which I can't say was there before. I'm wondering if the tappets could do with getting stripped right back, degreased and recharged but don't know the technique. Thanks
Thanks for making this video. Im in the process of fixing my 2013 dodge dart 1.4T SXT multiair got it as project had machine shop do valve job on head put everything back together now had no compression no start no priming/holding down gas pedal was getting compression back none of those tricks worked. I now have multiair actuator out again like in your video turns out i have 5 stuck down and 1 or 2 that spring up and down somewhat gonna take it apart and try clean them may make a video of taking them apart and cleaning hoping i can fix this one car only has 69k miles

After researching, I'm using Pennzoil Full Synthetic. I've read that different oils might cause an issue with the Multiair unit, but after closely watching and reading, most of the issues really seem to be dirty oil. Since I don't have a turbo, which really dirties the oil quicker, and I change oil every 3K miles, I believe that I'm good.
@@paulday4763 I am from Reunion island. My area is considered by FIAT like Europe. Fiat oil spec here is something very sharp. Not all oil factories has this oil. What oil specs shows your owner’s manual ? Like you tell, your engine should be clean with care of bleeding you have.
Interesting video. Ref the actuator that was stuck....could it be normal hydraulic lock as the solenoid valve might be closed. I understand that there are tiny bleed holes in the multiair unit cover which if blocked can prevent the plungers for returning. Also prior to failure had the engine been tapping?
Prior to total failure the engine stalled and had trouble starting a few times. There was no engine noise once running. The bleed holes were clear on the old unit.
What little wrenches did u buy to remove intake manifold so as to avoid cutting the tab? I have leaking seals to the sparkplug and I was told need to replace vc gasket too.
The top two outer ones can be reached from on top very easily. The rest need to be removed from below, even the upper center one. A 3/8" rachet with several different lengths of swivel extensions and the proper socket. The swivel extensions allow the socket to grip evenly on the bolts. It helps if you have someone on top reaching down and holding the long extension while turning from below. Once all the bolts are loose, push the intake manifold straight back as far as possible, being limited by wiring at the bottom by the starter. Valve cover and multiair unit can be wiggled out to the side under the tab. When installing the valve cover with new seals, I did pull up on the tab to give a little more clearance. No leaks, and the engine is running great. Watch for a follow up video.
@@paulday4763 i have about 4ft of each swivel extensions 1/4, 3/8 and about 3ft of 1/2 so got that covered now finding out the bolt size i assume 5/16 or 10mm is common. I'll use 12point. I'll have the owner help me he's skinny to do reaching. Just have to wait til the engine is cold.

Hi, I have a problem with my Fiat Bravo II 2013 multiair 103kw. Occasionally I see the engine light and the car vibrates for a few seconds when throttle is applied.
