- The Cranberries Zombie was one of the anthems in earlier years and its a song close to everybody's heart. It was really sad hearing that the iconic voice behind this great song " Dolores " is no more. I did my best to try make a cover that brings out all the emotions of this amazing song Zombie on the Bagpipes!

Back in my engineering days from 2007-11, Zombies used to be the most frequently played song in my dorm. The song was an indispensable part of our hostel lives. The news of her passing was heartbreaking. May she live forever through her amazing body of work. RIP Dolores.

Anyone else notice that out of all the tributes to this song, the bagpipes are the closest you can get to that edge that Delores had to her voice? Listen to them side by side, no wonder that woman was an Irish icon.

When I went to high school, music was a required subject. I was given a choice choir or band class. Any instrument. I picked the bag pipes because I figured I would never get it. Mr Reynolds got a set for me. The first two years were painful for everyone. Then I learned you could play Deep Purples songs on them. Was never very good but was invited to every foot ball game and all the cheer leader parties as long as I brought my pipes. Cops show up and ask that the music be turned down out came my pipes.
Was a hit in college for the same reason.
Last year I was at the legion waiting for a union meeting to start. There was a student bag pipe band trying to practice. A few of the younger players did not like having to play the Black Bear or Scotland the Brave. Being a smart ass I suggested something more resent. My choice was “Zombie” now I am no where near your league. However I did get out the first bit.
When I handed the pipes back there was stunned silence from the band master.
The next month the band was working on their version. Even the drummers were standing around working on their part.
Last October I took my IPad along and showed them your stuff. In December I had the chance to see them play again. You have had a great affect on them.
The girls in the band love your Irish / Indian / Pakistanis Dance number and the one where you place the desert enchantress. All I know is that the band master says that they are now gaining members instead of loosing them.

I just heard the song Zombie recently and had no idea the singer passed away. I had no emotional attachment to the song or the singer, but your rendition really made me feel the pain over her passing. It hit me hard in the feels. It was truly heartfelt and beautiful.
This proves that all instruments are beautiful, If played correctly, confidently and with the right song.

I’m a Midwestern, lower class American, and I’ve never and sad probably will never hear a bag pipe in real life. But from what I’ve heard from the internet and tv. They’re just loud bags of spit and air. But this video has made me curious enough to give them another chance.

There are few songs that bring a tear, Zombie is one and Archy you have brought a whole new level of introspection to it.

This is, IMHO, a better sounding version than the original.
And it may sound mean, but it's not intended as such, but the bag pipes elicit thre exact image if the lead singers voice in the original version.

Perhaps not better so much as a format that speaks more clearly to you and your personal style. I feel the same way about some covers; the original is it’s own piece of art, but perhaps a cover artist puts a slight tweak to it that clarifies a point, or hits a chord the original didn’t and resonates with me.
That was the best cover version of this song I have ever heard, probably the most beautiful instrumental piece I'll hear this year

I have never been moved by a tribute song like I was moved by this cover of Zombie. Dolores O'riordan was and always will be my favorite singer and songwriter. This tribute is both haunting and inspiring and reached deep into a spot in my soul where i keep my emotions and overwhelmed me. Thank you for this gift to the memory of Dolores O'riordan.

This was very good and powerfull! She would have loved to hear this i'm sure of it since she was irish and i know the bagpipe's are a native instrument in ireland and scotland! I can even hear her voice singing along to the music! You are so good to be able to play the various different song's like you do!

Bagpipes are an awesome instrument whose reputation has been destroyed by most people only ever hearing "Amazing Grace" played on them. Look into Celtic rock bands like Enter the Haggis to see more of how awesome they can be.

I've always liked this song and yet your version of it highlighted the elements of sheer haunting beauty that it contains which I'd simply never really noticed before. The pipes give it this really kinda sad solemn feel that just..... fits. The Bad Wolves cover is great but this one just kinda touches it in a way that conveys the feel of loss in the song.

Hauntingly beautiful, a true remembrance for Dolores. I wish you well in your career but please stay on the right path - look after yourself first. Don't go down that self-destruction path so many in the entertainment world take. We want you and your music around a LONG time. Southern Gal - i now this is a year late, but perseverance is the word. Keep at it and don’t give up. I myself have been in a financial hole now for 4 years. Have no plans of giving up. Working to get out of it one step at a time. Sometimes, it just takes a a lot of time for each step, but you have to keep at it and keep looking for opportunities. Small or big. Just don’t give up.
I didn't know she passed away almost a year ago. The cranberries are a great band. Thank you for your tribute, it was beautifully done.
This was one of my most asked for songs on my Scottish Bagpipes... Since Delores' death I just can't bring myself to play this.... It was a shock to my system the moment I heard of her death; I thought it was serious horse pucky when someone told me she passed away... I dunno why but it sorta took the wings out my sails musically ... Met this incredible woman once many years ago and I guess maybe that's why it shook me.... Her voice and their lyrics always sent shivers up my spine...
Okay see I don't know about this one Ireland and Scotland have always wanted to be by their self I'm down for that but I think it is a part of Europe and if we were all one country it would be better for all of us but Ireland is always fighting with Scotland Scotland's always fighting with Ireland why isn't up kids let's be one or we can cut you both off and defend yourself I don't want to see this I love you too
