    The RE320 is not a condenser microphone and hence does not operate with phantom power. I guess it was connected to a cheap preamp because you can hear noise in the recording as a consequence of the gain being all the way to the right, which is typical of dynamic mikes. You shoulda used a fethead or a better audio interface for a fair comparison. In these conditions the RE320 is made to sound like a loser, when in actual fact it is a champ mike.

      Funny, I just read a number of reviews on Amazon for the RE320 and many of them said the microphone has a very high output which makes high-gain preamps unnecessary. But of course a cheap preamp can introduce excessive noise even if not turned all the way up.

    "Best radio microphones" and recommend condenser ones... :facepalm:

      And apparantly, they don't realise you should talk into the RE 320, not a km away from it. You know, like broadcasters do. And a Radio mic comparison without the SM7B? What is that all about???

      In the UK the overwhelming majority of radio stations and 99% of the top stations like BBC Radio 1, use condenser microphones. The US is not the centre of the earth.

    i have a lot of condernser mics but the secret is to have a great voice.After a great processor for air,like omnia or Orban. aLL micks you can fixit with little more bass or mid or hf .The differences is so small..But if you want to buy one,the price is so different ex neumann 1000 euros and berhninger 100 ...So if yu have money spend ,if you dont No ,the sound is very near. thaks forthis video test.Have a nice day otr night..The voices make the mics,not the micks the voices..

    It’s still too sibilant to listen to, but I guess that you didn’t record the video with a professional microphone.

    People singing on TV with a regular mic, no pop filter and the vocals are perfect, no distortion, and the frequencies well balanced and flat. I want that “magic box” they use!
    I go to RUclips but with never any answers. They always say use this filter use that filter but the end result is not the same. There is something TV broadcasts use that magically shapes the sound. AND I WANT IT!

      How you sound depends on a number of things, like the microphone, audio processor, and post-production. We cover a few of these over at: radio.co/radio-university/

    She stated that all the mics in this video use phantom power. This is false. The Electrovoice RE-320 is not a condenser mic and does not require phantom power. However, It is one of the best dynamic mics out there. Just thought I would correct that.

      Yeah, the RE320 is a dynamic microphone, so that's our fault, sorry! We do cover a few other mics worth checking out here 👉 radio.co/blog/best-microphones-for-online-radio

    I notice you guys recommend the Behringer B1 alot, i have that microphone... and for me it doesn't have that bass response you hear from a radio presenter, what am i missing? is there alot of manipulation of EQ to get that required bass?

    • @Radiodotco
      @Radiodotco  4 года назад +1

      In recent years the Behringer B1 has lost its charm in comparison to other new players on the market (just look at Rode's new selection). But if you're in need of a budget friendly condenser microphone, then the B1 is still worth checking out. As an alternative, check out the Rode PodMic: www.podcast.co/create/rode-podmic

      @@Radiodotco so i watched the review of the microphone you suggest and the girl said its "trebly and not bassy like its competitors" so then that microphone wouldn't be what i'm looking for if it doesn't have that warm bass tone?

    1:36 RE320 doesn’t need phantom power. It’s a dynamic microphone.

      The RE320 is a dynamic microphone so it won't need phantom power.

    I vote for the Neumann first, I used one in broadcasting and loved it. From your demo I would put the B1 second. Surprisingly.

    Im watching this vid with a Buttkicker attached to my chair, and the bass output on the Behringer mic is causing my bass transducer to rattle hardcore. IDK if thats a good or bad thing, since the expensive mics didnt cause any rattling.

    • @Radiodotco
      @Radiodotco  3 года назад

      Depends on whether you think the mic sounds good or not!

    I understand that Bosch bought Electro Voice in 2011 and changed the microphones' electronics resulting in noisy audio. They are now cheaper to make but they still charge a premium price.

    Nice video, I have a question can you help me or suggest what equipment I would look that helps with a mic that translates to another language or is there a mic itself that does that. I hope you can help me. Thanks

    • @Radiodotco

      There isn't a microphone that can auto-translate, but you can use services like Google Translate to help you out: support.google.com/translate/answer/6142468

      Good spot Dino! We've improved our setup considerably since the recording of this video and now use either an overhead mic or lav mic depending on the situation. For more radio news, be sure to check out: radio.co/blog

    I have been using the Behringer B-2 Pro for a year and a half. I highly recommend it over the B-1. It is usually around $50 extra.

    TLM103 for broadcast? That's a condenser microphone. Quality condensers are the last type of microphone you want for broadcast. What about the Shure SM7B, EV RE20 and and if you're on a budget, the MXL BDC-1. THOSE are broadcast mics. You guys don't know crap.

      In the UK the overwhelming majority of radio stations and 99% of the top stations like BBC Radio 1, use condenser microphones. The US is not the centre of the earth.
      Just think about your logic too - acoustically treated, quiet, professionally designed studios + loads of live processing on the mics.... that is perfect for the U87 or TLM 103, the two most popular mics for top radios in the UK.
