Looking forward to the next part 2-3. ))
well now you have to do naked gun 2 and 3 and then airplane 1 and 2.
Don't miss his Dracula
Airplane! is a must watch imo
ok
All three are trilogy of greatness.. to me Leslie Nielsen is one of the all times for slapstick a pioneer almost like the Marx Brothers for the '80s
It is actually a deadpan comedyt
@@DC3Refom TV shows like The Office owe their existence to Lesle Nielsen and Naked Gun/Police Squad/Airplane
One reason why I like Naked Gun (aside from the nostalgia) is that it actually tries to get you to care about the story and characters. As absurd as everything is, it sets up a real plot, an actual bad guy, and has an actually "big" ending with the baseball setting. (Edit: Ah, I see Greg touches on this around 33:10.)
Leslie Nielsen is an absolute icon of comedy. Honestly he's the sole reason I started watching comedy in the 80's.
Also can we appreciate George Kennedy, as the sidekick? He and Nielsen always had great chemistry, and George was an all-round great actor no matter the role.
Academy Award Winner George Kennedy!
(my aunt owns the house Leslie lived in until he was about 4 years old in Regina, Sask.)
Funny story. Weird Al would go on dates and take his dates to see this movie in theaters. He would also wear the same shirt too. It was always funny
This movie and the second one are my favorite comedy movies of all time. Leslie Nielsen kills it in both of them.
I actually think I like the third one more than the second one, but all three are a lot of fun.
I like the ending in the last one ,at the Oscar's.❤️👍👌🙏😇❤️🎁⛄🎄🎅🇸🇪
“His delivery is perfect.”
Absolutely. I fkn love Leslie Nielsen in these movies. 😅
Such a great movie.
RIP Leslie Nielsen.
The Zucker Brothers relaunched Leslie Nielsen's career. He was a tough guy leading man in the 50s and 60s, but he sort of aged out. AIRPLANE! brought him back, and the Zucker Brothers created the Drebbin character just for him.
To me the main leading role that Leslie Nielsen had in the 50s was the lead in the Sci-fi classic the Forbidden Planet. Outside of Naked Gun/Airplane, my favourite role of him was in 4 episodes of Due South where he played a Mountie, which his father actually was
To me, I only know Nielsen as a comic actor
@@briandarroch I remember those episodes of Due South when i was a kid, I loved that show, the main character was so square but got the job done. The one scene that i remember was someone pulling a knife on the main character and him saying something like 'Im going to have to confiscate that'. I was delighted when Leslie Neilson turned up as the dad.
The Naked Gun movies and Wrongfully Accused were such childhood staples HAHA! classic favorites 😂
Wrongfully Accused is so underseen and underrated that is baffling.
Dude. I can't believe you didn't include the, "nice beaver. Thanks, I just had it stuffed." lines. I will never forget those. Classic!
I wondered that, too. But then I saw age-restricted censorship in the scene on the ledge when Drebin grabs the woman's breast and the subsequent statue's erection and even the word 'dildo' is muted. Such a shame
The banana on the tall guy falling out always gets me
I love the great John Houseman's cameo as the driving instructor. He spent decades teaching acting at Julliard but is best known for his Academy Award winning role in The Paper Chase. I recognize him as Edward Stratton II, grandfather of Ricky on Silver Spoons.
He was brilliant in Rollerball.
He was brilliant in this, and he did the opening ghost story of the Elizabeth Dane to the kids at the camp fire in The Fog. He had such a great voice.
Leslie Nielsen is so hilarious in this movie because he delivers every line as seriously as if he were in the most dramatic police procedural ever made
18:25 - 18:50 Best reaction I've ever seen to this hilarious little exchange. It's always fun for us oldsters to see a new generation finding these comedy classics and enjoying them. Great reaction and thanks for posting.
Slapstick at it's best! I love the interrogation scene at 7:00 😂
that wedding band looks good on you Greg!! 😆 congrats brother. recently introduced my girlfriend to naked gun, it’s a dream come true to see you reacting to this. it’s my favorite pre-2000s comedy next to airplane.
So many great lines and memes from this movie!
"There's nothing to see here! Please, disperse! Nothing to see here!"
"It's Enrico Palazzo!"
Once again Greg knocks it out of the park when it comes to choosing movies to react to! The entire trilogy is hilarious (as well as the t.v. show that inspired it "Police Squad")
My favorite trilogy of all time. Greatest comedy trilogy ever. So many classic moments
It's great to see younger generations appreciating the sheer insanity of these movies and TV shows. They came during a unique time in history, and I don't think they could be replicated.
It isn't a movie, but the 6 episodes of the original Police Squad series this is a sequal to are definitely worth watching. I'd love to see you do a first watch of those!
Police Squad was, to me, the first real “water cooler” series in that nearly everyone at work would be talking about the previous night’s episode. An absolute classic. The theme song is still my favorite.
Yes!
Instant click. How have you not seen this trilogy? All 3 are great. React to them all.
The Naked Gun is one of my favourite films. It has brilliant writing and is an absolute masterclass from Leslie Nielsen on how to be incredibly funny by playing a character that isn't trying to be, he was such a talent. Thanks for the reaction.
Are you still around?
So the jokes don't end when the credits show in Zucker Abrhams Zucker films you have to watchimg in the crsdits to see all of the jokes they slip in with all of the names.
Hypnotized baseball player at the end was the legend Reggie Jackson
I just saw your Moana one and was thinking "What film could I suggest to Greg" but never in my life would I have thought of this one! So excited! It is such a good one :D
Any movie dude he clearly was born yesterday😂
@@piotrswat169 honestly, how has he a movie based youtube channel? I have seen more films and I have rarely seen any. I just keep on watchin the same 20 that I know 🤣
@@tinas_hotdog_sophie i'm here just see how a beta male existence looks like🤣
Anyone else going crazy over the mouse pointer on the screen? Great reaction and congrats on the wedding and all.
I'm surprised HE'S not going crazy over it; he's the one watching.
I was, but then I covered it up with my own mouse pointer so it was all good.
The straight faced delivery from all the actors sells this movie because you really can’t believe that any of the actors were able to maintain a straight faced during production.
I love this movie's intro/theme music. Its so catchy and just awakens those happy times from my chilldhood.
Leslie Nielsen is amazing. From playing it straight down the middle as the hunky captain in Forbidden Planet, to these marvelous Police Squad movies (based on the TV series), hes simply fantastic.
Omg dude I've been watching this since I was a little kid, so good!
I REALLY hope you watch the other two! The second one is my favorite 😁
Congratulations on your marriage Greg! The photos were beautiful. So happy for you two 🎂
Jesus Christ how many movie havent you seen😂😂 this one is going to be good definitely one of my favorite comedies
Love this movie. I hope you do the 2 sequels. The absurdity is perfectly absurd that it works. Another 2 movie’s similar to this are Hot Shots and Hot Shots part Deux.
Also, Congratulations on getting married.
All three movies are very much worth watching! And I would watch your reaction to all of them.
The Naked Gun movies made my childhood.
The funniest I've seen a movie be, and Airplane!
I saw this in the theater when I was a kid. I remember thinking when he broke the forth wall in the first two minutes "this is gonna be great."
"Nice beaver", "thanks, I've just had it stuffed" - love that bit.
Leslie Nielsen was such a comedy legend. I always find myself watching his movies all the time. RIP Legend
Bro .. u need to watch Airplane ✈️ also that’s the Movie that started it all lmao 🤣 I love all these kinds of movies 🍿
These movies are gems of my childhood! All 3 are absolutely amazing.
Finally.. someone reads the credits of a Zucker movie. I used to have to videotape it on on HBO to be able to pause them.
I suggest you also watch the series that this film series spun off from called 'Police Squad'. Same cast and crew for the most part and it's only 6 episodes. It could easily be binged in a afternoon.
It's highly superior, too!
I'm enjoying these stand alone reactions from Greg.
Leslie Nielsen was is a one man comedic duo, plays his own funny and straight man. He’s perfect
Dude. You skipped over “Nice Beaver”? That’s literally the funniest joke in the movie. 🤣
OJ Simpson kills it in this
No pun intended?
@@dakman925 why what happened?
Omg lol i have seen this film a hundred times and you have pointed out jokes i never noticed before, like the different positions the Queen and Drebin have in the press photos and the badge Kaddafi was wearing about the weight loss. This film is the Citizen Kane of comedy
I don't know why, but for some reason my favorite gags in any of these movies are always the ones that subtly poke fun at the movie-making process: like when Frank walks around the wall instead of going through the door because it's just a "set", when he clearly is using a stunt double to do all the gymnastic flips, when the villain is using a blonde blow-up doll as he's escaping the baseball stadium. All that $#!T - just cracks me up. 🤣
Would you be interested in a NG fanfic?
Leslie was GOAT of comedies in the 80s, esp starting from AIRPLANE back in the 70s
glad you liked it so much. these are my fave type of movies: crazy insane comedy. parodies. love them. probably someone has already told you, but this is based off an old TV show called Police Squad & it is just as hilarious. Not sure if it's available on DVD/blu-Ray or any streaming services. Can't to see if you watch the other 2 films.
Great breakdown of why the movie clicks on so many levels. At its most silly it's a total guilty pleasure but some moments have such a firm grasp of the absurd mixed with the deadpan it's impossible not be won over. It's a really feel-good movie too with some nice levity to it, and it feels like an attempt to make an actual movie and not lazily shoehorn in jokes at every given opportunity that feel jarring to the narrative. Also Leslie Nielsen is my opinion one of the finest comedy actors to have existed. The NG trilogy and Airplane are his masterpieces, and there's a couple of other amusing movies he done too, but I think the team of Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker knew how to capitalise on his comic potential the best.
Side note I always thought if they were to do a remake then Liam Neeson would be the prime candidate for Frank Drebin and omg I just read they're eyeing him for one! If it doesn't get made I can live with that but I definitely think he can pull off the same comedic timing and delivery.
Denmark here, my name is Frank (though not Drebin), and part of my family are all Nielsen's. Leslie Nielsen's father was actually a police officer, or more correctly he was an immigrant from Denmark who joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His brother became the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada for a few years in the 80's and his half-uncle was the Danish-American actor Jean Hersholt who twice was awarded an honorary Oscar and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in his honor the "Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award" is still a special Oscar named by the Oscar Academy.
The kind of secretly funny part is that when he is offered a Cuban cigar he said he is "Dutch-Irish, my father was from Wales", because in real life Leslie Nielsen's mother was from Wales, so he deliberately switched the "Wales" part from his mother to his father in this joke, he then go on to invite Priscilla Presley out for dinner, saying that he knows this out of the way place, that serve great [Danish] Viking food.
Btw, when Leslie Nielsen died, ESPN published a hilarious obituary for the opera singer "Enrico Pallazzo" in his honor, that you can go look up.
"Do queens go to baseball games?" Yes. We do! I've been to Yankee Stadium! But not to Brooklyn for the Mets. I mean, I'm not a HEATHEN!
Watching you enjoy this is thoroughly wholesome. This was a nonstop gigglefest.
For those that don't know the movie spawned from a failed TV show called Police Squad and while the movie takes a few jokes from the show it's a great watch and is readily available on Bluray for dirt cheap.
If you haven't seen it yet, you HAVE to see Airplane!
Leslie Nielsen isn't the main character, but he's hysterical in it with this humor.
Lolhaha I love this channel its so RANDOM they have there schedule but love the random reactions! It's keeps the channel from getting boring and repetitive.
You know the one thing I took after rewatching this is apparently those gloves did fit OJ
I love that the police station is called, "The Police Station."
Absolutely loved the film when I watched it with my fam, a lot of laughs
How have you never seen this movie....
IKR 😂😂😂
So sad that everytime I watch a reaction to this, no one knows who Mr. October is. Love u,Reggie.
Such a classic. Naked Gun (the sequels) and Airplane would never be able to be made today…
After all these years, it’s still funny af. And, watching OJ get his ass kicked the whole movie is more satisfying than it was then. 🤷🏻♀️😂😂😂 and I still sing the anthem with “buncha bombs in the air”. It just feels right. 😂😂
I bumped into Leslie Nielsen years ago, literally, he walked into me as I was leaving a Starbucks in Brighton, UK, I spilled my coffee and he got me a new one!
I quote this movie daily
The genius of his movie is how everyone plays it so straight
That was fun loved the reaction Greg it was nice not seeing you cry lol xxx
Merry christmas reel rejects
Congrats to you and mrs alba on your wedding, i hope everthing went well and you had a fantastic day
These movies are brilliant, it got a great cast and has lot of visual gags which takes mulitple viewing to notice them all, not to metion leslie nelson deadpan delievery of lines which makes the comedy even funnier.
If you enjoyed the naked gun , then i highly recomend the airplane movies, hot shot movies and dracula dead & loving it
Yo, this is a riot!! Guaranteed laughs. Im crackin up just watching this lolol.
For those confused by the baseball player with the Vaseline under his ball cap. If you put Vaseline on the ball it weighs it down and makes the ball curve better. It's considered illegal in the game.
Drebin's National Anthem scene is iconic.
Oh sweetie, I remember watching the trilogy here and there as a kid. Yep, Leslie Nielsen was a riot. 😂
Watch him in Airplane, another hilarious movie! 🤣
This is the first Naked Gun reaction I've watched that stayed for the closing credits. Thanks for that!
Thank you for this, Greg....I enjoyed this from the first time it came out and watching you watching this is just so enjoyable..... looking like an fantastic honeymoon you're having
Hope the wedding went well! You look handsome with a ring on that finger.
My dad and I used to always watch this series because Leslie was freaking hilarious.
Leslie Nielsen also starred in a James Bond parody called “Spy Hard”. He plays agent WD-40, Dick Steele! It’s very funny 😂😂
I remember when this first came out. A buddy and me smoked a joint before we saw it.Laughed our asses off the whole movie.
Comedy gold. Still have my VHS box set! 😄 🤣
The second one has my favorite joke: Well, isn’t that the fault of the voters?
Awesome Movie and Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍👍👍 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Im glad ur finally watching this incredible hilarious movie Greg!! 🤣🙌
Looking forward to the next part 2-3. ))
Fun fact, that roller coaster in the intro is the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in CA! Still active!
There was talk some years ago about doing a 4th one with Ed Helms. So glad that didn't happen.
I never comment on RUclips, but I will for this channel. Love the channel and have been following for a while now! Probably my second comment ever, btw
My favourite scenes are the jokes in the background that many miss. An example is the moldy, moving cheese above the fridge that slowly moves to the left.
This is so good and really funny to watch
The Naked Gun, Mel Brooks movies and The Police Academy series were my favourites in my childhood.
i grew up with this being my grandpas favorite movie. leslie nielsen is amazing.
I used to watch police squad with my pops when I was little. Love these movies. Miss you pops.
I remember watching spoof movies like this as a kid, my fav part was the Police Car driving on the Roller Coaster.
The third one where he is dancing on stage is the funniest thing i have ever saw
Congratulations man...
Surely you’ve seen Airplane! also with Leslie Nielsen?
The first Hot Shots! is pretty well done also.
I remember my father and I seeing this in the theater when it was first released….. So funny- and it’s gotten funnier as I have gotten older.
"Forbidden planet" comes to my mind when I'm thinking about other roles.
