Hey I have a 2008 g35x and I’m having trouble with starting once the car is warmed. New starter in the car now when starting sometimes it will just die out or I have to give it some gas to keep the rpm’s up would cleaning the tb help or solve this?
Use throttle body cleaner, not brake clean! Unplug the connectors and coolant lines. Only a tiny bit comes out. You can place a paper towel under the lines to absorb it. Take them off completely and open the valve with your hand. Spray inside and use a toothbrush to scrub.
The point of not unplugging the throttles is so you don’t need the car to relearn them. Throttle body cleaner is basically just more potent brake cleaner, however it has a higher chance to leave residue behind. Brake cleaner is more than fine to use on throttle bodies. 👍
@@BalancePointMedia I don't know where you're getting your information from, but it's incorrect. Throttle body cleaner is not stronger than brake cleaner, and has oils to lubricate moving parts. You might need a relearn if you move the valve WHILE plugged in, not if you unplug them. I've done this countless times on multiple VQ motors with no relearn required.
I suppose we could get into a conversation about how a properly working pcv system will eject some oil into the intake lubricating the parts, but it’s not really that important. You’re correct throttle body cleaner has extra oils in it, but it is also more concentrated than brake clean, as per the data from crc. It doesn’t particularly matter though. I’ve also done this for a long time, and I won’t sit here and just be like “ur incorrect” but we’re both correct. Have a good day. 👍
The ecu still has memory of parameters, and the throttle sensors on newer cars can be finicky, it’s not that it can’t be unplugged, but as said the car will have to relearn the throttles. Some cars can have the battery disconnected for a few and relearn quickly, some like this take a little time to relearn. If you don’t have to wait for it to relearn by leaving it plugged in, there’s no reason to do it. If you have to unplug it? Go right ahead just know the car can act very strange during the relearn time, that’s all.

At the very least you’ll need to scan for whatever code is being thrown. If you don’t want to order a scanner just run over to an autozone and they’ll do it for you
@@abbas674 sounds like you just need to rebuild the starter or get a new one. Usually the contacts in the starter will deteriorate over time and smacking it is the fix. If you have to smack it then it’s time to swap How does it run once it’s on?
@@BalancePointMedia no start no crank I smacked it and it turned on right away I just took it off had to remove the front axle and wheel hub assembly it runs normal just idle up and down sometimes
@@abbas674 There is an idle relearn procedure you can do for free to see if it makes any difference. If it doesn't then your MAF may need to be looked at. How many miles do you have?
Dude trys to talk over you too much lol. Its super frustrating to watch and listen to but over all it was a good video. Yall gotta take turns thoroughly talking about something before the other immediately jumps in over top of the other with their opinion lol. Be much easier to hair the camera guy filming and narrating while the other does the work. Good job tho yall
If your throttle body gaskets are in good shape, probably, but they’re 8 dollars each, and will guarantee you don’t have an intake leak at that point. 👍
i just got my g37x coupe and this video is actually nice thank you ill be watching more of your guys video
Thank you for your support!!

This sounds like a similar issue I had that was caused by the maf sensor
Try cleaning your maf sensors first and let me know what happens 👍
Idle air control valve perhaps
They have a specific torque and bolt tightening sequence that people should be aware of. Consult a maintainence manual for proper way to do this.
Can you open and close them with out causing problems ?
That's my only question too. I've heard to unhook the battery 1st. Also heard that you don't have to unhook the battery
Just saw his answer. You don't have to disconnect the battery
Was the battery disconnected prior to starting?
We didn’t disconnect the battery during any of the throttle cleaning process. It’s not necessary to disconnect in this instance. 👍
Good job and thank you for the video!

Do you know if they sell those throttle body bolts like in Home Depot or anywhere besides z1 or online?
If you take a bolt into a local store (something like bolt king) they should be able to match it up for you
Did you disconnect the battery cable?
You don't have to
Thanks 👌🏾
I need to do this to my Q50
Yeah, but if u diconnect the battery how would it know. Also, im cleaning it because of the high rpms on start

What is the torque specs for the bolts?
1 click
no relearning procedures done?
Not specifically on this time and didn’t seem to be an issue
good info. but. wish you guys would do more detail on the explaining, like; should the car be on/off, does it have to be removed, etc etc.
Prices are double that now. Only 1 year after. Wow. For some rubber.

Do you have to unplug your battery before doing this ?
Technically no but you can always play it safe and just disconnect it really quick
