As a fellow dyslexic scientist in the field of genetics/genomics, I can certainly attest to benefits of visuals in memory retention and reasoning in general. I spend a great portion of my day learning about biological processes and leveraging my abstract reasoning in order to draw distant connections that can be useful in my research. Often times, my ideas are never fully concrete until I can draw the process in my head down on paper. It has been a process to get to where I am today in terms of understanding and accepting my challenges as well as accepting and utilizing my advantages. Thanks for the video and getting the word out about visual note taking!
Thank you so much ! You saved my life because you showed me how to take notes properly! I am a Freshman College student and I have dyslexia. I was struggling with knowing how to write notes , but thank you. You helped me a lot !
Wait really? This is so awesome 😎 I have Dyslexia and ADHD (ADD) and always struggled with writing notes in school either I was not fast enough writing notes down or I would miss some information. As an artist drawing out my notes was better for me in school but my teachers would scold me for doing that and forced me to write it down instead. Even when I doodled in my planner about stuff I would remember that more than my written notes 😂
Using different colors while taking notes helps me organize material and remember it easier. Also, don't sweat spelling while note taking! Write phonetically or even better create a short hand, I drop a bunch of vowels, it helped me keep up with other students and not get bogged down when I couldn't quickly recall spelling. The different colors breaks up the information in different groups/sections and I don't get wall of text overwhelmed as easily. (This helped in middle school - college and into adulthood in meetings.)
I’m a visual learner. I always draw in the corner of my paper in class. Pictures helps me to remember and it calms me down. I love reading books with pictures bc to me it has many words and meanings to me as much as someone who would read and picture it in their head. But sadly in school it’s not acceptable/normal. In 2015 they finally taken dyslexia seriously in Minnesota. But it was already too late for me. 😢😢😢
The annoying thing is I forget the sequence of thing so fully understand and know. It’s not that I can’t remember what it means I can’t remember I need to remember. This is a clear explanation as to why I’m good at drawing tho lol. I might try drawing a picture of things I forget the sequence of tho. I’m a really good artist soooo
Thank you! Can’t wait to try this out- can’t believe no one taught me this. I always thought there was something wrong with me despite me studying just as long as other people.
For me it really made a big difference! My exams at University I would just describe the pictures/visualizations that I drew. And because of it I was able to remember a lot more.
Thank you for another interesting video. My sister has been a visual recorder for conferences & meetings for a few decades: she’s dyslexic too and the records make the participants feel like they’ve really been heard. As a second point, I would like to ask if you could consider using a larger, non-seraph font with increased inter-letter spacing, please. The font size also increases the crowding effect.
Thank you for your feedback! I will definitely make those changes in my next video. I also changed the background color of my transitions in this video. Did you like the yellow of the older videos better? I thought this might look a little more professional look, but I am not entirely sure.
I did do this for a few classes and it did help but the drawing has to be fast and easy and the PIC has to be easyily relatable to the subject. I have a problem with deciding the drawing that is best. And my OCD won't always let me do a simple pictues/drawing.
My son is dyslexic, he is 8 years old, I need a way to help him in differentiating between b and d , p and q , c and s , I know this is the ideal dyslexia however in school they push toward writing correctly ، is there a strategy or technique to help, I am trying to fix his self confidence
I do struggle with sustained attention at work and ancerd yes to all your ADD questions. But I feel like this isn't down to having an unusually low amount of attention but due to reading and writing requiring so much more attention from me?
As somebody with dyslexia reading just takes up a lot more energy. And then it can seem as if you have a low attention span. That being said having dyslexia and ADHD at the same time is also not uncommon.
Was wondering if you could perhaps do video of how you do this with examples. This is something I'm sure would help me but I often don't know how to do this. Note taking has always been incredibly hard for me, even to knowing what information I should write down. Often the whole process just seems so overwhelming and so often the notes I have taken weren't helpful in revision afterwards. Any help would be appreciated. I'm a diagnosed dyslexic.

Yes! I have not been able to find a way to describe this but this is how I learn and why I can't understand my teachers lessons😅😂❤

Sorry to hear that…. But at least they start to take it a little more serious now…

Note taking works for me but I’m dysgraphic as a bonus so super hard to take those notes and it’s
Been hurting my hand a lot lately
Thank you so much
This would explain why, when learning something, I do better with a tutorial video rather than written steps.
Another great video. Very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video! Thank you!

Thank you for this information! Do you have videos on how to do this? I just found out I have dyslexia and I have a hard time with remembering.
I don't have a video like that but have a look at this video and the channel: ruclips.net/video/eZQ7ILUAsek/видео.html
Hi loved your video
I am dyslexic but I find it very hard to draw concepts can you suggest a few tips please
My son is dyslexic, he is 8 years old, I need a way to help him in differentiating between b and d , p and q , c and s , I know this is the ideal dyslexia however in school they push toward writing correctly ، is there a strategy or technique to help, I am trying to fix his self confidence

I don't know if I would have been able to do that in school but I do wish I could have done audio recordings of my classes
Any video on how to find what is you love to do as a new Job please
I have been looking but haven’t found something really exiting yet...
But as soon as I do I’ll share it :)
