I do really like this new approach, but I had to watch it twice to focus on what you said, as I was wondering where you were? why you were there? are you from there? and a plethora of other questions 🤣🤣🤣… maybe I also have adhd as well as dyslexia 😣
Thanks very much for making the videos you do, it’s very relatable for me and nice to know that there are other people out there like me! It’s appreciated!
"You can only have have that different experience if you make yourself a little vulnerable. So, that is what I'm planning to do, and I would encourage you to do the same. And I think it will work out for the both of us." You have such a gift for connecting with people through your videos. I'm so glad you're including us so we can hopefully learn and grow with you. And congratulations on becoming a father!
Thank you! I can identify with the "perfection" cycle ! Also I did like your meandering during the video. I have heard the concept if you tend to be a perfectionist, try to do 20% less and you will still probably be ahead! I am still figuring out where the 20% will come from. (I didn't even notice you got a hair cut until you mentioned it) Can't wait for more !
I am glad you liked the meandering. I actually also enjoyed make this video more them usual. And regarding trying to do less, sometimes it might even increase your overall performance. If you are not constainly under pressure the time that you do spent on work might actually turn out better.
Really nice video Arije i would definitely like to see more like this Your editing skills are impressive and your speech is very clear and understandable. I found it very funny that you pointed out the haircut at the end as my own perfectionist mind immediately noticed this single incontinuity in your video, it made video very human and relatable and was actually a very good example. 🙏 Simon
Hey Simon, so nice to hear from you. How are you doing these days? I thought I’d try something different with my video this time. And it’s actually more fun to make than a standard talking head. So I think you’ll get at least a couple more. Also because right now I have a crying baby at home. Which is less ideal for filming. 😃
@ArijeAikedeHaas hey congratulations on becoming a dad.👏 I'm doing well, I've settled back in the UK now. I'm definitely a fan of your new style of video and your work in general, it's helped me a lot to listen to you I look forward to the next one 🙂
Because of perfectionism, I make the tastiest foods and beautiful artwork. It takes forever to do. Same for school work, I take too much time. And, giving up due on fear of failure is common, so great things happen in special circumstances. I've been working on giving self easier tasks. So, easy recipes or art therapy, and only doing what the homework assigned. But, then I get dissapointed because I know I could have done better. But, I have other tasks to do and people around me do know that as they do. I'd have the same rigid thinking in needing to redo the whole video with a haircut. Most people would just mention that in the video because they are only human. We need to treat ourselves as human.
I am a 14-year-old facing mild but persistent learning difficulties, particularly in speech and language. Although I excel academically, including perfect scores in exams, I struggle with expressing thoughts clearly and organizing words into meaningful sentences. My brain takes time to process information, and I often forget or feel unable to organize what I’ve learned. For example, when watching an educational video, I understand the central idea but feel like it’s unorganized in my head or forget parts of it. Reading complex sentences requires multiple attempts to grasp the idea, and I tend to zone out. This issue affects both English, which is not my primary language, and my native language. In math, while I perform well, I need a pen and paper for even simple calculations. My parents think it’s minor because I do well in school, but I worry about coping in the future. I’m unsure whether I need medical help, psychiatric help, or just better language training.
Yes, i try to do everything "perfect." Yes, childhood I was told I was wrong or not good enough and I just got a lot of complaints. So, I'd feel a need to correct all the future criticism to alleviate that drama.... But, I would rather do the thing the right way the 1st time than go back and redo it more than once.
Sometimes we try to prevent future criticism or failure from reoccurring even though our situation has changed completely. I know that my create more stress than necessary. I also understand the desire to get things right the first time around. 😊
It's funny, I thought the same thing about the haircut as you, I would have done it all over again 😆. I work every day to lower my standards, there are days when I succeed and days when I don't, maybe it's an everyday job and there can always be relapses haha.
Just found you I'm learning on dealing with my disability at 57 and I would like to know what posturing is I tried to find it but people talk about it. I'm not sure thanks
In this video, I tried something different and took you guys on a walk through nature. I would be interested to know what you thought about that. :)

Well said!
Great! I recognise this cycle and get stressed & perfectionist followed by terrible headaches! Lots to think about now, try to be different!
That is great, the realization allown is alread helpfull. Now you can catch yourself when you are entering the cycle.
Thank you Arije for this very interesting video. Would like to see more. May hashem bless you.
More to come!

Felt this one big time
Good to know! I might need to do some more on this topic.

Falling off the bandwagon, is certainly part of the journey 😃
