I have one question about the last setup, where does the emergency drain go to? Should I have a section for it in my sump or does it go else where, or does it have a closed end and just there to alarm with a sound? This was so helpful! I been looking for someone to explain how it works. I will be sharing this video for sure.
Hi , All piping goes back to sump. You don't have to create any new section just plumb the piping down into your 1st section of you sump. If the other 2 pipes get clogged all the water will rush into the emergency drain pipe and the will be noise due to air forced into the pipe together with water. (Loud gurgling noise). Thank you very much for your kind words and I'm really glad it helped.
Very informative. Thanks. Been researching the herbie overflow for a 6 ft (62525) tank. Can i ask for your thoughts on having two herbie oveflows - one on each side of the six ft tank ? Leading down to a sump tank with one fluval xp 6 running back up ?
For larger tanks stand pipe you should use solvent , but for my smaller tank pressure fit was fine. But i suggest to use solvent to avoid any unforeseen situation.
HI, just a question, but how do you do water changes for the Herbie system? If the emergency pipe is draining water to a certain level, won't the emergency pipe keep draining water into the sump, causing it to overflow when you do water changes? (I am assuming that the emergency pipe is kept at a low water level), or is it supposed to be kept at a relatively high water level? (near the top of the tank)
Hi Evan, Firstly thank you so watching. I don't go water changes manually ( ruclips.net/video/R75c_PyNdiQ/видео.html). But I've done it manually without an issue. My Herbie overflow system is in my overflow compartment so it doesn't affect water changes. A simple method is to remove 30-50% of water then just add back the same amount until you reach the amount of maximum water in your MAIN TANK. Let me know if you need further explanation I could make a video abt it. Thanks
Kalau sump tank system...sebelum buka pump kits kena penuhkan sump tank sebanyak kita mahu. Lepas ITU baru on pump .... So jadi no elektrik level akan jadi sama.
If your using 2 durso i can consider it to be safe but if those durso pipes are in 1 compartment and not separated you can easily change it to herbie overflow and still maintain overflow rate that you currently using.
@@TheSimpleAquarist thanks bro. Yes both in same compartment. Hence think to convert to herbie. But will the flow rate remain the same kah? Because if using herbie, its now using 1 pipe water flow down. (Other is emergency). And if i use 2 durso, both are being utilised simultaneously.
@@bobbylim1971 Yes flow rate would be the same because in Herbie 1 pipe would be full siphon - almost the same flowrate as 2 Durso pipe overflow.....you can always leave 1 pipe as Durso(will act as an emergency ) and just make the other pipe lower 6-8 inches before water line in overflow compartment don't forget to place a ball valve on the fully submerged overflow pipe so control the flow.
My choice is of course the Bean animal but most of my tank runs on Herbie. whats your choice?
This was great thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was a very informative video 😊 thank you
Great video champion
This was very helpful
Thank you very much. Glad it helped. Cheers
Thanks sir 🙏
Good explaination. Where do u get union ball valve from?

Yes, absolutely
Do you permently attach the stand pipe with solvent or does it stay removable? Just stays put with pressure fit
For larger tanks stand pipe you should use solvent , but for my smaller tank pressure fit was fine. But i suggest to use solvent to avoid any unforeseen situation.
What happens if your pump (sump to aquarium) fails? Using the herbie system, will the water continue dripping out of the main tank into the sump tank?
WHen pump fails usiang herbie the tank water will stop at certain level that I set only.
Plz show your overflow system...glass bottom drill is safe???
yes very safe- you can try to check our my new videos i have shown the over system
which pipe you used ?
i used PVC and using herbie flow

@@TheSimpleAquarist Thank you for the quick response! Helped me understand this concept further! (Thank you for making these awesome videos)
Hi, we need to use silicone at the overflow connection point right ?
Yes, i prefer to use it no prevent any leaks in the future.
Ima use herbie overflow. What size pipe do I need for a flow rate of 7500l/h
Thx
at least 40mm would be best
@@TheSimpleAquarist nice thx. I planned to drill 2 2.5 inch holes in the tank. I'm going to use 1.5 inch pipes
Bos,for bottom drain, kalau elektrik takde suddenly, macam mana?sump tak penuh ker?

I masih tak fahamlah bos, buatlah video pasal bottom drain,.. pros and cons👌
@@kamariahkamisan691 ok next video i cuba jawap.
I am surprised they dont come predrilled with pop outs
May be now they do but usually most hobbyist like to DIY or get someone to do it.

Berapa diameter paip tu?
Standard 1 inch untuk overflow and return pakai 1/2 inch.
