I worked backstage at this event, and no one messed up on this set despite what it looks like. It all went according to rehearsal. Beck wanted to do a syncopated live version. At 00:27 I ask beck if he wants anything from Mcdonald's. He turns around and shakes his head, and then yells at me "no thanks for asking." He had told me earlier (multiple times and very sternly) that if anyone goes to Mcdonald's to ALWAYS ask if he's hungry, no matter the circumstances.

I think the reason most people don't like beck live is because he's just as experimental live as he is on his albums. He doesn't want to do the same song twice, when most people want it to sound exactly the same as the album version.

Beck has a unique stage presence. I was lucky enough to see him live once. He was mumbling his words and seemed a bit out of breath, but there is something riveting about him on a stage because he conveys this sense that he might just lose it any second.

I like how the solo sounds in the beginning because its so messy. Thats what makes it so interesting. I also think him messing up is just proof that we're all human, even those on the stage. They're just people. Its such a relatable version of this song

His band is hired and they only rely on what they hear in their earphones. They dont know anything about improvise. At the end, you see Beck wasnt even finished with the solo giving a nod to the drummer to keep it going, but instead, the drummer ended it. You see Beck pissed off, throwing his guitar near the drummer.

He is obviously in a mood, perhaps becouse of playing in that sun, and you see, that the band did a joke, not coming into first chorus along with him, maybe to cheer him up, maybe just to jerk off. Also its so obvious that he signals drummer to stop, not to continue, maaan.

As a drummer myself i would have taken that nod as a cue to end it too. typically a nod means go on to the next section or phrase, in this case the end.
