I don't think so... He clearly does way more twirls in the fast version and never shows how to continue the rotation in slow motion... Instead of showing the transition to keep it spinning he extended his arm out to transition to the next step after only one full rotation.

The momentum of the rod keeps it's motion confined to a disk but while the rod is vertical the disk can intersect your body allowing your wrist to unwrap it's accumulated twist without losing grip

I watched a couple other ones which were teaching the exact same thing but only wasn't able to get it (also practiced for about an hour). Then I watched this one just once and I got it. I only practiced it for like 15 minutes and I was becoming kind of good now. Great video, no speech needed makes it even better. Thumb up and archived.
