Eck are you playing the Skywalker Saga? If yes are you gonna do a review after playing it through, at least all story modes? It's a pretty new spin on LEGO's movie-based games
You know I noticed something,
Eckhart never talked about the Yuuzhan Vong on Zomana Sekot and how they apply to the Yuuzhan Vong and the force. You only talk about their invasion, but those on the living planet have a significant impact on the story line and the Shaper that was killed.
What if there are shadow government in the Unknown regions that use the inside of asteroids as planets 🧐
i want a star wars horror game in that has you explore the unknow Regions that would be very cool
A Horror game based on Death Troopers ala F.E.A.R.
I just want an open world star wars game with this gen graphics and controls. I love kotor and am looking forward to the remake but I want a new story to explore.
@@exudeku I would love a mod for Left4Dead, since I feel that the book reads like a campaign from the game.
NMS but cosmic horror
I want the Star Wars Battlefront Games to have a Death Troopers Mod much like the Nazi Zombies mode in Call of Duty.
The lower levels of Coruscant are also unknown regions
Scary
Like our oceans on earth..
Anything below level 5 is the stuff of nightmares.
@@obiromaniankenobi1136 well there are creatures down there and the levels there were built a long time ago, but it's still very remote
@@liberatetutemeexinferis5902 we should give props to the head of the 69th precinct then
This definitely makes a case for revisiting old topics. There's so much ever changing canon. I'm an old school fan and barely knew any of this.
the expanded universe isn't canon, but yes it's fun
@@Chrisy7 we make our own Canon, modern lucasfilm show time and time again they ain't worth piss
@@Chrisy7 canon is what I decide to be canon for me, I can't trust Disney to decide it seems.
My head canon has always maintained that this part of the Star Wars galaxy is actually an ongoing collision with another smaller galaxy.
The Star Wars galaxy is mostly populated with bipedal, intelligent beings. Most intelligent life seems to have a common design.
This second galaxy that is colliding with the Star Wars galaxy is full of very different forms of intelligent life, which follow their own set of unique designs.
this is a very interesting idea
My thoughts are that intelligent life will most likely be very similar to humans. I figure, for a species to advance, it needs the anatomy necessary to, not only use tools, but create them and an environment that allows them to. Basically, to make use of metal, they'd first need to harness fire which requires oxygen. Without the fundamental basics which human civilization was founded upon, I don't see how any other species could progress towards interstellar travel.
In other words, it not only makes sense, to me, that aliens are humanoid, but they'd also come from Earth-like planets.
The thing is...the Non-Bipedal life forms mostly got killed off as inferior species through various means. The Rakata killed off species they couldn't use. Quite a few races similar to Humans are actually Humans that evolved to the unique planets they were stuck on due to the break down of the Rakata Infinite Empire. Long after the Rakata there have been various genocides committed by everyone from the Sith Empire to Darth Desolous to Palpatine. You also had various galactic wars completely wiping out life from Planets like the Bouncers on Ruusan. Then there are previously Sentient Creatures that devolved themselves into primative beings for survival like The Kroot.
Oh...and The Hutts. Can't forget the non Bipedal Space Slugs.
@@idunbeezasmart1 Sorry to burst your bubble, but just because we can breathe oxygen doesn’t mean other races have to. Plants breathe carbon dioxide, and we have several accounts of plant-based species in Star Wars. Aquatic species would never have any chances of being what we see.
Additionally, there’s no reason for worlds that are inhospitable for us to not be hospitable for other species. In fact, the amount of things where this is the case even go to disprove that. And, why should it look like us? Say a species comes from a warm world with a lower gravity. They wouldn’t look like we do. There’s also no reason for a race in another Galaxy to have the same exact tools, armors, and interests as we do. That’s actually something that bugs me in the game Spore, there’s 0 reason for every race to have spears. Why should a race have spears if their world’s conditions necessitate something more akin to, say, Moon Knight’s weapons? There’s no reason.
The concept of Rakatan Holdouts, splinters of the Infinite Empire, surviving and turning into a greater threat down the line is a nice thing to touch on… but sadly lack of information on them is a problem.
Source?
@@indoorplant2392 source for what lol
There is absolutely no chance of this, even in legends. Due to the fact that the Rakata were dying of a plague, and those that were left more likely wiped out by the eternal empire courtesy of Darth vitiate
Finally, somebody talks about my boys the Ssi-Ruuk! One of the blunders with making the EU non-canon was missing out on the chance to have invading space dinosaurs as a galactic threat. And even apart from that, there's no love for Ssi-Ruuk in the fandom whatsoever, so thanks for acknowledging their existence at the very least. I'd like it if you made them a topic of a video, but I'm pretty sure I'd be the only one to watch it :P
Yessss
Pretty sure he already has.
I’ve done many videos on the Ssi-ruuk, including a breakdown of the Battle of Bakura
I miss them too. in fact all of the strange unnatural things in th Unknown regions. Can can make GREAT stories by bringing all of this back.
@@EckhartsLadder I went and saw the main one; much appreciate giving them the spotlight!

I think the "Unknown" is inherently interesting from a storytelling perspective as well as just just the sence of adventure from seeing a map with a spot that says "here there be monsters". For the narrative opportunity it presents the option for a more "Star-Trek" like experience. Most of the Star Wars systems operate with a similar super culture and the Unknown Regions helps introduce novel elements at will of the writer. It's possible for individual systems to be located among the rest of the Republic just in "unconnected" systems but honestly humans have difficulty understanding the fantastic distance between systems.
The most interested element is a discussion if there are inherent difficult in hyperspace in the region or just lack of interest in exploration.
Also explain why Luke has a grappling hook in episode 4, and why the audience just accepts it. Is there a grappling hook store somewhere that the Republic and Empirial armories mass ordered from? Like I do t think I've ever seen a grappling hook in person.
Y'know, theory crafting video idea: Gravity screws with hyperspace travel, hence the Empire creating the Interdictor class, which can make artificial gravity wells. So, could the same principle be applied but in reverse? In essence weakening or lowering gravitational fields in front of ships to improve hyperspace travel? And could it be a way to better traverse the Unknown Regions? Maybe even the Deep Core too considering the much denser gravity of the region?
@@_Dovar_ oh really. Gee i wonder what a repulser beam is then?
Repolsorlifts are used in conjunction with a hyperdrive and standard propulsion to allow for sublight travel. It’s the only reason you can get anywhere, in a timely manner
THE OUTBOUND FLIGHT. God, thank you. My dad got me that as a gift years ago, and I could never remember the title after I lost it. The one where the jedi use the mind meld or whatever and they're trying to explore unknown regions! God I loved reading that so much, definitely gonna give it another read now
What I find most terrifying about the Unknown Regions is the fate of the Temple of Korman Lao--a planet-sized temple that was destroyed. Its destruction implies the existence of a superweapon or a fleet of incredible firepower.
wouldn't it be relatively easy to destroy a plant sized temple? plants aren't usually that big
@@AlbinoMothDragon Oops, I meant to write "planet-sized temple".
The thing is I think the temple blew itself up though, so I think we can sleep easier now
So interested in "beyond" type stuff like this in the Star Wars universe. Keep up the awesome work!!!😁😁😁
You forget to mention the Star Weird that can are a major hyperspace hazard in the area there is also that dark side cult devoted to chaos with a desire to export it to the galaxy. Also there is the Kiliks and the potential remnants of say the Rakatan Infinite Empire and hell I wouldn't be surprised if some remnant of the Pius Dea fleet that was launched randomly into hyperspace at the end of the Seventh Alsakan Conflict managed to colonize some worlds and form a new Pius Dea Imperium in the Unknown regions which hey if that isn't a good idea for a Star Wars story set in either timeline I don't know what would be.
Someone knows their lore! Haven't heard of the Pious Dea for a long time
@@lightkeeper1238 you guys don't know how bad I want a SW live-action series or video game that takes place during the countless changes, battles, and tragedies wrought during the Pius Dea rule of the known galaxy. Furthering the lore on the Order of the Terrible Glare, the self-imposed exile of the Jedi Order, Pius Dea Crusades, alien holocausts, and the possible horror that writhed and festered in the darkness beyond Republic space...
I’m going to address each of these ideas now. 1. Starweirds are everywhere. They can attack you even in the arrowhead if they feel like it. The only reason there are so many attacks in the unknown regions is because you’re more likely to be alone.
2. There are multiple Darkside cults, in the unknown regions. Justin did a video on the one you are thinking of (the sorcerers of rhand) a while back.
3. The Rakata are definitively extinct. The ones that remained behind after the fracturing of the infinite empire either, died out in the Civil Wars. Died from the plague that was sweeping their species at the time, devolved into lower species (such as the flesh raiders of Tython), or were in circumstances that left them outside of time.
4. If there was a Pius dea sect in hiding, it’s very likely would have joined the galactic empire of its own free will. Though that doesn’t mean it may not be there. The chances are just low
A dedicated video to lesser known factions/ power blocs outside of the dominant ones like the NR/GA/empire would be awesome
Yet there’s nothing as terrifying as the Special Edition scene of the Max Rebo Band.
Id love to see a video about these supposed ghost ships in the unknown regions
An in depth video on the Yevetha, Koornacht Cluster and the Deep Core would be neat
I think Eck did a video on the Deep Core.
He did a video on the deep core, that being said I think it would be the job for a different RUclipsr to do a video on the yevetha, namely @Generation Tech
Have you ever noticed that the Vong is kinda like the mandalorians? They both have a warrior culture that values honor, they are both almost unstoppable forces, and they both have hatred towards Jedi.
I’d like to see a fight between the mandalorians at their peak vs the vong at their peak
"Unknown Regions" is probably something many geeks can relate to
i like that you re-do it. What I like even more is that you mention that you did it 5 years ago (which is when I first watched them). Well done, as alway, man!
Would love to see an in depth look at Warb Null.
The physical description and possession process of the Mnggal-Mnggal reminds me a lot of the 'Pus of Man' from Dark Souls 3. Yeah I can definitely understand the terror as a result!
Can you do a video exclusively about the empire of the hand and their ships from Thrawn s revenge for eaw? And maybe a guide on how to use them
eckhart continues to introduce me to so much new, old, stuff lmao. legends man
I wished the Sequel Trilogy focused on the Sith connections to the Unknown Regions, I would've loved that aspect🤷♂️
Or the Yuzung Vong war.
@@JamesJohnson-nm5pu hope that will never be canon
Either they focused on the Sith Eternal *or* the first order.
They are both the same, but one for the fascist bad guys and the other for the dark magic bad guys.
Really strange for JJ to create a secret faction based on an older villain in the UR *after* creating a secret faction based on an older villain in the UR.
It did though. It just did so terribly
@@JamesJohnson-nm5pu Chewbacca would die then :(
Nice to have stuff like this playing in the background while grinding for studs in skywalker saga lol
Several Years ago (i think nearly 26 years) i got a Ssi Ruuk ship as model in these Blisters from i think Micro Machines? Never knew what ship was exactly besides the name and got me fascinated about these unknown things beyond the movies.
They made all sorts of tiny models of the stories from the books back then. Like the Sun Crusher as well. It was super fascinating.
you should do a video explaining all of the biotech the Vong use
I'd love a movie trilogy where some Reaper (mass effect) tier enemy is coming from the unknown region. It's coming to wipe out ALL life, and the Jedi and the Sith, empire, republic, what have you, NEED to ban together to repel the apocalypse.
The thing that I’m wondering is. If someone wanted to have a sort of secret Redoubt in the middle of the unknown regions, unreachable by even the majority of the chiss ascendancy where would it be (Grid coordinates what I want in this case) because we know the location of the capital of the empire of the hand, and we also know of exegol (which I personally believe is actually Zakkul under a different name), we still don’t know the exact location of where the first order was founded.
I have to wonder if it wasn’t for the rebels being such a nuisance that the empire would have pushed into the unknown regions. I would think they would have done a scorched earth policy, finding a big threat in that area and using a super weapon to decimate it to show all the less powerful species to bend the knee.
Like going to the mnggal-mnggal home world and using a super weapon to burn the whole thing to a cinder. Upon seeing such an overpowering threat easily defeated by an awesome super weapon would surely make the surrounding powers give up fearing they may be the next.
With those surrounding systems under heel they could set up outposts, mining for materials, shipyards etc. basically a supply line so with that foothold they could go farther in the unknown regions.
Hi there Justin, love your channel and your work. I have suggestion for a new video. Would like to explore other force sensitive organizations besides the Jedi and the Sith. For example, my favorites the Zeison Sha, and others such as the Jel Shey, Kilian Rangers, Matatuki, Janasari, Disciples of Twilight, the Advisors and etc. I certainly think that this would prove to be a very fascinating topic for those Star Wars fans searching for a different and fresh narrative than the usual Jedi and Sith arcs. Just a suggestion, but a good one nonetheless. Thanks for sharing, stay safe and may the wicked geek be with you 🤓👽👍🖖
More in depth look at the "zombies" of star wars, the Death Lotus or whatever it was from Red Harvest, that later became Blackwing, of course the Rhakghouls, etc.
The plant was the Murakami orchid. The best way to cover this is to simply read the legends novel death troopers. Or watch the review done by @Saintmillion
@@michielkudova3887 Thanks! Eck has some videos on it, too, I just forgot the exact plant. Death Troopers is one of my favorite Legends (true Canon, screw didney) books
@@baileymeadows333 Watch the summary by @Saintmillion. It’s surprisingly good
In Legends the Unkown regions almost feel unneeded since you have Enemies like the Vong who come outside the Galaxy, thus making the reader much more interesting in knowing what's outside the Galaxy rather than the Unknown Regions. Plus, this might be me not being familiar enough with Legends, but can't they just fly around or above or bellow the stuff that prevents hyperspace into the Unknown regions?
I love how both Lucas and Disney worked hard to create and maintain Star Wars as a family-friendly, generic sci-fi IP. Yet the extended lore is filled with horrors and threats on par with the darkest parts of the Warhammer 40K universe.
If there is one thing I learnt with the EU it's don't go into the unknown regions
You're right, it's not really a place to go in when you aren't prepared
It’s not the worst place you could go. You could go to the Sith worlds… which are probably so soaked in the dark side, that if you stay on them too long they’ll eat your soul.
I think the unknown regions should stay unknown. There always should be an unexplored region in a fantasy world that gives people an opportunity to fill it in.
Chillest Star Wars channel.
Great video! These type of lore videos slap
I always think it's great when other genres, like horror, sneak their way into something like Star Wars and the to get to mix.
I'm a simple man. Eck posts a video about the unknown regions, I watch
Thanks for doing this, I always find the less explored regions, the parts of space that have an air of mystery to them, to be really interesting as well.
I really like when you cover old topics and just lore/legends stuff in general. The current events kind of ones or whats popular right now aren't as interesting to me tbh. Your old lore videos are what made me love your channel because of how well you cover them
Eck: Five years ago!
We Viewers, Unable To Remember Time: Wow, that's something.
We need a Chiss ship breakdown
Revisit Legends Luke Skywalker vs Disney Luke Skywalker considering Book or Boba Fett and Asoka being in on the new Jedi temple
I want a full, detailed video on the Unknown Regions. *Everything* on it, history, what it contains and all
Your about to get a movie trilogy 🔥
Dude this video is great! Wish it were longer
I love the Unknown Regions, and really anything mysterious in Star Wars.
Recently rewatched, "Every era of TIE Fighter (Legends and Canon)" that might be a good subject for a followup. Video is great, but doesn't discuss some notable ships in detail. Also contains an audio glitch/cheeky omission at the end with ST canon. Ofc an "eras" video is broad and doesn't necessitate featuring every obscure TIE, but it might be interesting to do a followup that does! Stuff like the Advanced, Brute, experimental remote controlled TIEs, Reaper, Striker, Scout, Uglies, tanks, etc. detailed all in one place. Could maybe even include opinions or comparisons on models you think had potential, First Order vs. Remnant choices, etc..
That one corner of the map that normally says dragon slumber here that is what the unknown region is pure nightmare feel for the unprepared or stupidly brave.
I made a character for a tabletop starwars game and thanks to my dm who helped me work it out, my character had use the force to separate a sliver of the Mnaggl, Mnaggl and had it living under his muscle layer. He had issues overall but it was an interesting character.
I’m not sure if you still do these, but I would be very interested in seeing a sci-fi versus video on the Hive from Destiny versus the Flood from Halo- they’re both massive forces driven by insatiable hunger, but while one is an infection that is almost impossible to stop once it’s infected a population, the other is a lovecraftian space-magic fueled army of conquerors with immortal, godlike leaders. It would be really cool to see their matchup!
Would you ever expect this area of the galaxy to be explored more and more interaction with the hyperspace barrier or do you think the lore is pretty much shut down in that area?
I'm nomming your content like one obsessed--falling down the rabbithole with happy whoops 🙂
I love this topic SO MUCH!!!! Thank you for like the 5th video on this!!!!! 👍🏼❤️🔥
I always heard the Vagaari were a nomadic species. They'd fly around in their spaceships and get lost and they'd go "where the Vagaari?"
I have a theory that Earth is in the unknown regions. I could be wrong but you know how it says in a galaxy far far away in star wars? It could be indicating that earth is extremely deep in the unknown regions. Maybe even in intergalactic space.
Yea! Ecks back with the scary lore
I've always wanted a show that's horror based in the Unknown Regions. An anthology might work best for this, but there's so much possibility.
The Universe is a scary place.
I once saw a child pick something off the floor and eat it.
Please bring back Battle Breakdowns! Maybe something from the new Thrawn Trilogy? Like the final battle in Chaos Rising or the battle against Jixxus' dreadnaught and the Greyshrike and the Springhawk?
So the mgnnal mgnall part was he referring to the goo or the woman in the picture? 🤔 cause at times both fit those criteria
Imagine having so many good races that look awesome and have great backstories and then you go and throw in a race of gun toting raptors with booger strings.
I love this topic. Star Wars is a Science Fantasy but it tends to lean more into the Fantasy. We need some unimaginable horrors of space. Not everything needs to be The Force.
I thoroughly enjoyed the vong series.
You should do a video on the most powerful species in Star Wars because the republic, sepritists, empire and rebellion surely weren’t the only ones who had armies
The Versus series would be interesting to revisit 😃
You didn’t mention the Grysk from the Thrawn Trilogies! Possibly my favorite part of the books!
4:01 celestials… reminds me of Stellarborne
I find it bizarre how there's an entire section of space unexplored in star wars.
Because writers need place to hide plotholes
there might be a fan fic where we are in the unknown regions
RUclipsrs: DONT visit the unknown regions. Here's why
Me: Hm. But I want to visit it
Me after watching the video: Oh crap now I REALLY want to visit it.
Wouldn't mind knowing more about the hyperspace barrier.
Eck... this is the 7th week in a row you've shown the Unknown Regions in a video.
Hey Ecks! Question given you love the unknown regions, have you read Zahn’s thrawn ascendancy trilogy that just wrapped up? It actually canonized outbound flight to an extent as well
I liked it quite a bit but it was a bit confusing in some parts.
I would love to hear about ghost ships in the SW universe.
So now we know where the Tyranid threat in the grim darkness of the far future comes from.
Never sleep on the Grysk
Here's a question about ship combat in star wars, why isn't any faction that i know of uses saturation strikes to deplete shields like with if there's any anti ship missiles (not with laser cannons)
Given the new movies pulled an enormous, galaxy-conquering First Order with advanced fleets, starfighters and stormtroopers from there, the Unknown Regions might as well be called the Writers' Butts.
Yesss. I love these videos so much!!!
Maybe I missed something, but when did the Halo Universe join the Star Wars Universe? Asking for a friend. 😅
Could you tell us more about the tuskens?
Of course if something is dangerous or is restricted our own primal instinct will make us find out the i think the writers were trying to create a mystery in the star wars cannon
For some reason the Mnggal-mnggal give me Vex vibes from Destiny, I'm referring to the fact that their all one thinking and that their very ancient and from another dimension
And they’re made up of goop, and are NOT the things they walk around in. Aaaand, they both can take living beings and turn them into more of themselves (a certain grumpy Gensym Scribe comes to mind).
@@eskarinakatz7723 R.I.P our boi Asher mir, he always hated metaphors
#AskEck. 2 years ago you made a video about which faction / era of the Star Wars legends could survive a Yuuzahan Vong invasion. I was wondering if the results would be different with new canon factions and era, more specifically the High Republic, Sequel Trilogy and Mando verse?
I know the High Republic has many of the same traits with the per clone wars era republic, such as the involvement of the Jedi Order and numerous planetary militaries. But what about the fact that the Republic at this time has yet to explore all the territory that the Republic possesses during the time of TMP?
Unknown regions is always welcome :)
Could you do a video on Star Weirds?
Can you cover the planets that we know of in the Unknown Regions and where they are?
My friend left for the unknown region 5 years ago and we never saw him since
hey i would love it if you made another video on imperial warlords.
These are fun
Waaaait, where is that sw spacebattle footage from ?
Bruh. That's a death eater in the thumbnail. Not the crossover I was expecting
Hi justin I will get straight to the point. I really loved your versus series and I know, that now you have been working on HALO content recently now, but will you maybye consider a new episode? Perhabs Palleon vs Bel Ibis at the time of the Thrawn duology, because to me, that they were always little bit in shadow of Thrawn and Ackbar. I'll be happyif you consider this idea.
Just wondering what was the footage of Rebel vs Empire Capital Ships Turbo Lasering each other. I would appreciate
It was a fan animation he made himself called battle of the dreadnoughts
Did a Siruuk show up in Obi Wan as a bounty hunter recently?
