Great video mate. Re getting the correct pipe centres fo the mixer valve, I keep hold of the mira hard plastic pipe templates that come with there bar mixers, there set at 150mm and Just screw them to the noggin and level up. Perfect every time and reusable. Keep the up the great work. Rob
Loctite 577 works very well on the threads for shower mixer and rad valves it's perfect save me so much time when I'm on a price onsite not touched normal loctite in a while defo give it a try 😊
my "knack" for fitting a bath is I batten the two walls with some stud work (thin piece across tap edge so you're not blocking yourself from installing the taps) then as soon as that's level you can lower the feet to the required height. boom it's level and provides extra support and no sagging of the bath especially if there's a shower going over it, no leaks and no squeaks. Great video as always mate, was thinking he's making this harder for himself on a few bits, then saw what you were doing at the end and it all made sense, like you said we've all got our own way of doing things
I always put my timbers on the wall first set to the correct height for panel ect then drop bath in and set the feet so all is level. I find that a quicker way instead of putting in and taking it back out to then brace it and put back screw down and seal ect
I have been using the liquid ptfe for some time now but with tape aswell. I dont quite trust it on its own. Also JG and flomaster do some nice male iron to plastic connections. Have used on shower valves/taps etc👊🏼👍🏼
Another great video Mark, you explinations are always clear and to the point. My preference is for completely concealed pipe work . As far as the shower goes, if this was for me I would go with just a large shower enclosure. However, I appreciate that for some a bath is required. Looking at the room as is I would turn the shower tray through 90 degrees and swap its position with the basin. Then possibly put the toilet in the corner with the basin between it and the shower. It’s hard to be sure not knowing the dimensions. It is the clients choice at the end of the day, but, I think they might regret having the window in the shower! Keep these great videos coming.
Hi MJ, Carron baths used to advertise with a 7.5 ton truck sat on a bath under each wheel to show their strength which is probably why they don't bother with a central leg because the base plate is much thicker and I think ply as opposed to chipboard.Good baths made in Scotland I think and stay hot much longer than most but they aren't cheap 😁
Hi Mark, A great film yet again thank you, yep the shower tray and the bath edge look very close, especially for a tiled bath panel. Like you say that’s what the customer requests, I like the tip on marking up the boat level for the shower valve. Have a great time at the tool show, take care, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
I'm forever chasing my tail on leveling baths too! Also great idea with marking up the boat level for the shower. I've been using those angled bar mixer wall brackets but they're about £35 now!
Good first fix mark and good top tips as always. The green thread sealant is anaerobic sealant, I use it on loads of threads, Part number 4373J from screwloose. I knew you would mention about the soil pipe colours, what does it matter 😆😆 as long as your not running brown waste up the side of walls outside as it's not uv stable to sunlight your alright.
Great video as always Mark, I agree with you with the layout, I think it does look too tight. It still may end up looking really good in the end though and I'm sure you will work your magic for the customer. Have a great time at the tool fair mate
Thanks Tom, hope your well. You know when you just know it’s not going to work…. And try and advise but they are blinkered into why they want.. Hopefully it will look good as you say buddy
Great video, job mark, what dja think about the new building regs part L,where they state every pipe should now be lagged,in voids, floor ceiling spaces, gonna be more cost for customers. Customer should of had the shower tray longways, then there would of been a gap between bath.
Love the videos. Always excellent work. just a quick question home diyer: Is there any reason why people use elblows rather than just bending the pipes, i.e., coming out of wall to radiator
The easiest way I’ve found to level a bath is to set your bath strap to the correct height and make sure it’s level, put the bath in, having it on the strap. Then start with the legs loose and start from the back left corner (left side of the overflow) to the right side of the overflow and level that. Then level from the front side where the handles for some baths are. Level the bottom part and you’re good to go. Your back legs should just need to be pulled down and secured. Starting with the a level strap makes it super easy for me!
Great video. I noticed the bathroom walls are moisture board (green), but the bathroom ceiling is not. Can you, or someone, say why the bathroom ceiling would not also be moisture board? Thanks.
Looking forward to seeing how this looks finished. The shower could have been rotated for more room. Also when soldering why do you always wipe it with a cloth?
That makes 2 of us buddy🤣 Wiping it down removes any flux from the pipe and keeps it clean. If ever you have seen pipe with green stuff on it’s not been wiped and can cause leaks
Love the video , yep I have been there chasing the level on bath last one I thought why am I doing this !! I like you always put battens on the wall so last one I did I set my height fitted the battens then just sat the bath on the battens and then dropped the feet down to meet the floor 😊 worked like a dream bang level 😂 . As I say love the videos all the best mate 😊😊 ps that is sooooo tight you’re so right too much !!
The shower is so close to the bath it will be difficult to switch the bath taps on without treading in the shower!! Also the shower is under the window so there will be strange shadows on the curtains looking from outside. Not a good floor plan I agree.
Great video as always… deffo go for a bath and a shower over it… I know it’s not your choice but I don’t like how tight it all looks. Customers always right even when they are wrong lol! Looks a decent job that though mate. Something to get stuck into! Take care mate! Marc

Great vid, layout is awful, will there be a glass screen up against the bath panel?, quadrant would have been better in the corner on the right as you walk in?
Re your use of st st elbows in tight situations. I agree but in your example I couldn’t see why you were using any elbows at all and not pulled half sets and bends as you said it may be boxed in but was just utility area ?.. just asking ! Rick 40 years plumbing heating and gas engineer retired !

Is that downstairs ceiling being counter battened? Would it have been an idea to run the bath waste between the joists rather than under the ceiling? The shower waste could of gone inline with it too? Could the basin waste not gone in the stud wall? Just a lot more to box in?
The boss on the fitting wouldn’t allow the space to get it within the joists…. As said it’s not an issue as it’s a utility room anyway 👍🏼👍🏼 And the basin waste IS in the stud wall👍🏼👍🏼
Exactly mate…… exactly. This is the problem with a customer using an “interior designer” and not listening to the plumber that does these day in day out…..
How do you deal with uneven floors when using bt1 to stick a tray down? I can’t remember the last time I fitted a tray to level surface unless its a plinth that I built myself.
Easiest way iv found to level a bath is to fix 1 wooden baton to the wall level .....normally use something thin like roofing lath. drop bath on wooden baton and wind the two closest to the wall legs up so they dont touch the floor ......then just level off the two far feet and fix them. then lower the other two feet down and fix them...dead easy and it adds a lot of strength ....no need to fill bath before you silicone also , because it just wont move ..... add classi seal tape before this for a bullet proof lifetime seal , or i do anyways :)
Yep always fit a batten on a bath, always have done. Infact I’ve put it on here before and not filled it as a lot of people think you have to….. until I tell them it’s going nowhere with it battened
Have to agree, that layout is terrible, as you suggested, bath under the window would have been much better, not sure what size that bathroom is, looks very similar to my own one that I've just refurbished, 9'x7'6 managed to fit both a bath and shower by compromising a little on the shower, and fitting a 900 quadrant, along with a carron status bath, the curved end along with keeping things uncluttered by using concealed taps, valves, cistern along with an, overflow filler we kept the cramped feeling at bay, though a different window and door orientation means it wouldn't work in that room.
Yer a quadrant would of been a better solution, however the customer had a “interior designer” do the bathroom design…🙄🙄…. I couldn’t make them see sense unfortunatly
Hey mate, confidence is key in our game…. If it’s a huge job like the barn renovation it will be tested, but this is fine just getting the water on as not that many connection
How the hell are they going to clean down the side of the bath/shower it is ridiculous way to tight but as you say you can only advise them, looking forward to seeing how it looks in the end lmao.
Why are the brushes so shit on the majority of solvent weld glues haha? I started using Griffon t88 glue, brushes are how they should be (bit more expensive though) Loving the videos Mark. Respect from Ireland!
You could use a 6ft level corner to corner diagonally as initial levelling of the bath and refine it with a smaller level, but as we all know most baths and shower trays are not 100% perfect and there is always one side just a touch off
It’s not a Sunday without a coffee and a new video 👌 do you have a preference for glued waste fittings over pushfit? I prefer pushfit just that’s just. Thanks for the video again Mark big fan of the channel 👍🏻
Thanks mate….. I personally prefer using solvent weld as I find them a lot more rigid obviously, just less of an issue of movement. But we all have certain things we prefer to work with and there is no right or wrong👍🏼
Hope you enjoy probably the longest video I’ve put out to date….👍🏼👍🏼

Love the videos. Always excellent work. just a quick question home diyer: Is there any reason why people use elblows rather than just bending the pipes, i.e., coming out of wall to radiator
Sometimes it’s for the working area, tighter bend allows the fittings to sometimes look neater and work with the dimensions
@MJTiffPlumbing it's in the wall radiator pipe
Nice job Mark, what is the customer thinking, shower in front of window, recipe for disaster!! They say customer is always right…I don’t think so. :)

Why are the brushes so shit on the majority of solvent weld glues haha? I started using Griffon t88 glue, brushes are how they should be (bit more expensive though)
Loving the videos Mark. Respect from Ireland!
Thanks mate, I know exactly what your saying about the brushes🫣
nice work man
Cheers Dave 👍🏼
Defo to tight for bath and shower you can cut those trays down a little but depends on the screen your fitting
Wouldnt want to be cutting that down😮🙈🙈….. they should of just gone for a smaller one🤣
You could use a 6ft level corner to corner diagonally as initial levelling of the bath and refine it with a smaller level, but as we all know most baths and shower trays are not 100% perfect and there is always one side just a touch off
Yep always one of the edges doesn’t want to play ball
4 piece bathroom adds more value to property , I always advice if space permits
Key there is “If space permits”…….. this doesn’t!!!
But the customer is always right… until they are wrong🤣
@@MJTiffPlumbing yeah seen that at the end of video once tray wad in 🙈
top vid as usual mate & top work
Thanks Winnie 🙏🏼
How come you soldered shower tails instead of using your bender more chance of fitting leaking
@@paullbennett2923 🤣😂
People like this 🤦♂️🤣
Well said Paul….. 🙌🏼🙌🏼👌🏼👍🏼👍🏼
One Life….. if you thought that way you would never solder a fitting in your life buddy
@@paullbennett2923 maybe he was watching a PB video 1st 😜😜🤣🤣
It’s not a Sunday without a coffee and a new video 👌 do you have a preference for glued waste fittings over pushfit? I prefer pushfit just that’s just. Thanks for the video again Mark big fan of the channel 👍🏻
Thanks mate….. I personally prefer using solvent weld as I find them a lot more rigid obviously, just less of an issue of movement.
But we all have certain things we prefer to work with and there is no right or wrong👍🏼
Yeah true that 👍🏻
I always use 4 levels it’s quicker and no guessing
Who carries 4 levels 🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yer I’ve seen that done before
How have you connected onto that underground soil pipe ? I didn’t think you could glue onto the underground pipe
Never had an issue gluing onto it in 20+ years 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice work Mark. Which laser level is that you were using?
Thanks mate, this is the Cigman 701 👍🏼👍🏼
