I don't really understand the people "not controlling your characters" thing going on with Unicorn Overlord. It has just as much control as a game like Fire Emblem. Yes they do move on their own, but you have to constantly pause the game to re-route them, retreat them, use Valor, etc. There's constant interaction throughout the entire battle!
3:02:09 I wonder if From Software has had better luck with branding and naming with: Elden Ring, Demon Souls, Armored Core, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls. Versus Square Enix’s approach with Final Fantasy 16, Triangle Strategy and Octopath Traveler. Triangle and Octo both being shapes and numbers that imply certain gameplay mechanics but missing that sense of fantasy wonder. It’s almost too literal and also not descriptive enough.
Unicorn Overlord is amazing Vanillaware art combined with fire emblem/ tactics ogre/ final fantasy 12 for gambit system. Also the music is the same team from 12 and tactics so phenomenal. Got it the week of gdc and spent 65 hours into it between talks and demos. If Rebirth didn’t exist this is by far the most fun I have had with a game this year.

Pentiment is not necessarily meant to be replayed and it isn't a visual novel. Consequences and regret are a core part of the games themes. I know she's trying to dance around spoilers but the tension and regret of wondering what could have been is much more what was intended by the devs, rather than simply having multiple save files to see different outcomes at your leisure.

Aye! It was great meeting Micah on this episode. I'm also from Boston and a huge bruins fan (Go B's). I can say this much as far as the Crosby hatred. I think it's because, while in his early and mid career,he was pretty notoriously soft/whiny. Meanwhile, at that time, B's fans took pride in their tough and gritty teams.
Sort it out: go buy a copy of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth at some point. This game is wonderful and it can be the Rebirth of the AAA open world JRPG. But only if it sells enough copies. It pains me to say it but we are in an age where Square Enix leadership might pivot, so we need to support it, even if some of us wait for a discount.
I love the episodes with jaffe. I'm afraid to say that i had to stop listening to summon sign due to all the content that last stand is putting out, i was becoming overwhelmed. So now i just cherry pick the eposodes I want to watch, depending on the games or the people. Love the line up for this episode and its noce hearing brad again.
About Jaffe being a part of the “crew”, they all are independent contractors more or less except Dustin. He was the only one that wanted employee paperwork drawn up. So it’s likely that jaffe will never be a part of the “crew” by your definition.
Went from Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth (about a 117hrs in) to Unicorn Overlord and its a nice change of pace. Really enjoying it, just have to find time to play them both.
With all the accessibility options in games and controllers for a wide variety of impairments, having a toggle to slow the game down for those of us who grew up on NES when it was new seems logical. I don't need it yet but I will soon probably.

@@quezcatol They added something similar to NSO. It is missions. You do some tasks and get point with those points you can get avatars and even some physical goodies like key chain or sticker. I got very cool totk key chain from the points I collected from there. I would much prefer them to build upon that rather than simply bring achievements.

Unicorn Overlord is most similar to Ogre Battle and Ogre Battle 64, not Tactics Ogre, FFT, Shining Force, etc.

I'm finally reaching the end of Persona 5 Royal and will be starting Unicorn Overlord next. I'm very excited for it.
