I’m a Metalhead but I do have some guilty pleasures . They are Duran Duran, Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode .. Went to a Duran Duran Concert in the mid 90’s and What a great show it was . I’ve Been to Journey and Bon Jovi concerts over the years and I have to say at the Duran Duran concert it was 100 women for every guy .. Had a Fantastic Time 😁
Excellent choice of bands. They went above and beyond the typical sappy love songs that dominated the 80's pop scene. I always liked The Fixx as well.
Makes sense. Duran Duran was the manliest of the New Wave bands, IMHO.
@@funkster007 100% agree with the The Fixx mainstay at all the clubs in the 80’s..
@@StfuFFS - What more than ‘The Teardrop Explodes’ or ‘Numan’
Depeche Mode and the Cure!
Makes me so happy that they have been inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year.
Well deserved! 👏🤘
And Andy Taylor has confirmed he will be there and Simon believes Warren will be there too...
R&R HOF is joke! I like Duran Duran, but they are not rock! Just like 75% of the HOF inductees!
@@bk972 Here we go with the "they are not rock crowd". A band has pop elements and it somehow disqualifies them from Rock and Roll. Maybe the problem is actually what your definition of Rock and Roll is.
@@bk972 Agree 100% - like Duran Duran as well but NOT rock - Hell they even have artists in there that are more like rap
@@methos3135 You seem to be the one with the problem if you think Duran Duran is rock and roll
“Ordinary world” from this album is fantastic
The Warren Cuccurulo influence.
Maybe they should check out Missing Persons while they're here.
Their other fantastic song from around this time is "Ordinary World" which is just an amazing track!! One of their very best, like this one! As long as you play the original unedited 5:00 minute version, NOT the edited 3:30 minute version!
@@JoeBlow_4 It came out on the same album as THIS song, which was all I was talking about. I figured I had already seen plenty of commenters telling them that this song came out years after their big heyday.
@@JoeBlow_4 Regardless, it was a big success and comeback after Liberty.
Are used to think that Lex was crazy but now I realise that she’s just super evolved she is about 100,000 years ahead of the rest of us
Speak for yourself Matthew ;-)
My favorite Duran Duran song. Warren Cuccurullo's guitar riff is great. The song was written by Simon Le Bon as a wedding gift to his wife.
The music was wrote bye Cuccurulo and Nick Rodes. The lyrics bye Le Bon
Duran Duran was unfairly pegged as a "teeny bop" group in the 80's and a wash-up pop band in the early 2000's... Truthfully, they were a musical force in pop music and never truly got credit for their decades in music... Simon LeBon (vocals) has one of the most iconic voices in pop music, along w/ Phil Collins, Sting, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Prince, Bono of U2, Michael Hutchence of INXS, Freddie Mercury of Queen... etc.
I mean, Duran Duran could have quit anytime when their records were no longer selling... but they kept at it - releasing 15 studio albums and made a stellar comeback in 1993... and later in 2004.
Simon is an underrated poet/lyricist.
This song has such a sensuous and hypnotic vibe that I LOVE. This is my favorite of theirs.💜
You gotta do more Duran Duran. I'm a metal head but in high school from 1982 to 85 they were as big as the Beatles in their heydey. It's why Duran Duran was nicknamed The Fan Five (the Beatles were the Fab Four)...
Save a Prayer, Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf, Ordinary World but next you gotta do Girls on Film.
Thanks guys!
I never heard of Duran Duran till 1992 when I was 15 and heard them on the radio - Ordinary World and Come Undone. I thought they had a very unique sound.
Duran Duran’s “Save a Prayer” is a vibe.
Love it!
YESSS!! LOVE that song!
Holy shit... I've loved this song since it was released but only paid attention to the vibe and didn't know, until THIS video, how deep the lyrics were.
If you get chance, watch the official video as well. It's well worth it.
@@Deegee_1969 will do
I like it..back in the day most people thought they were posers pretty boys in reality they are very skilled song writers and musians.
Duran Duran was a great new wave, synth, post-punk, and pop rock band during the late '70s & '80s. They got a little older and new wave was morphing into pop dance music by the early '90s. Duran adjusted during that time frame, and here it is. Soft rock. Song from the '90s and they have other good songs and videos yall need to check out from them during the '80s and '90s.
Great band, Rock N Roll Hall of Famers now!
Duran Duran was the best new wave band of the 80"s
They weren't new wave. They were new romantic.
Wow, Brad was left almost speechless.
That was my favorite song by them with "View To A Kill", and "Girls On Film" coming in a close second and third.
Wow! Someone else loves "View to a Kill"!! I saw the movie like 3 times that summer, just because of the song. Yes, I could have just bought the record, but that would have been way too easy! 🙃
This song wraps me in a warm blanket and makes me feel safe and calm. I'm so happy Lex went there too.
Lots of great Duran Duran songs but ‘Ordinary World’ is special 🤟
thats always been my favorite song by them
I think Lex nailed the interpretation. It always felt like it was like the perfect representation of being in a relationship that became the center of your whole world and everything outside of that relationship was like the "hope and fear outside" and the people in the relationship are wrapped in a cocoon safe from the external "wind" that's trying to rip them apart. I remember when it came out someone saying it was written for Simon's wife and it would fit with idea of being married to the biggest pop star in the world and how hard that would be for the longevity of the relationship. And other bands have covered similar topics like Journey with Faithfully or June Carter (Johnny Cash's wife) when she wrote Ring Of Fire. And like Journey sang,
"And being apart ain't easy on this love affair"
Or
"And lovin' a music man ain't always what it's supposed to be"
Duran Duran were one of the biggest bands of the 80's and for good reason. I recommend their song Union Of The Snake if you come back to them.
I have yet to see a reaction to that one from anyone!
Niiice! Great suggestion!👋👋👋👋
I hated this music when I was growing up but now I love it. It reminds me of when I was a teenager and did not have a care in the world.
Great reaction
This band was always ahead of it`s time. Creating so melodic perfect songs. Love them and their fantastic music. Greets from germany 👉❤👈
Duran Duran was an 80s powerhouse, at one time compared to The Beatles because of how many top 10s they were pumping out. They probably have over 20 songs that charted worldwide like Rio, Hungry Like The Wold, Save A Prayer and one of my personal faves that not many people know of, Skin Trade.
Skin Trade is my favorite as well.
Skin trade is one of my fav, and the whole album Notorious, coproduced by the genius Nile Rodgers
There's an instrumental on 7 And The Ragged Tiger that I've always loved, called Tiger Tiger. I think I only had that album and Rio, whose cover art was done by then well-known artist, Patrick Nagel. The guys really liked his work and got him to do Rio's front cover.
I actually had a poster of one of his pieces called Sunglasses. I loved that piece and had it properly framed to keep it in good shape.
Love, love SKIN TRADE ❤️ LOVE VOODOO is another fave ❤️🎶
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "Rio" and "The Reflex"!!
Add Rio and New Moon on Monday!
@@bk972 oops, they did Hungry Like The Wolf already!
They should watch the videos though - especially for "Rio" - in order to get the full effect.
"Late Bar" is my favorite DD song but I think that "Rio" is more representative of their career.
@@surlechapeau I never said Hungry like the wolf!
@@hughjaynus2336 sorry, I did, replaced it with Rio.
"Girls on Film" is the song that brought Duran Duran to the forefront of the synth-pop scene (before their super hit album "Rio"). You should check it out... it has an awesome video, too.
Hah. Not exactly youtube friendly.(the video)
One of the best 80s bands even up to the early 90s...
This song is about falling in love. “My immaculate dream, made of breath and skin-I’ve been waiting for you”.
The song is called come undone cause we all come a little undone (in a good way) when we fall in love. The walls come down and you’re vulnerable. When he says “hey child, stay wilder than the wind and blow me into cry”…is talking about taking a chance and letting yourself fall.
I still love them their concerts are so fun. You should try The Chauffeur from them it is brilliant.
👍The Chauffeur! Yes.
Actually, I love their whole first album.
Every song is pretty great.
Love Chauffer, so dark & haunting...and they MUST watch the official video!
Your smiles at the beginning 😂 you two were high as a kite for this one. Kinda fits this song though really 👍
Duran Duran are musicians 40 yrs plus in music 🎵🎶 fantastic brilliant awesome amazing band 👌👌 there music is outstanding
I've been a fan since I was around 12 and saw them on MTV in the early 80's. I have always loved this album "the wedding album" too. There's another great/hit song off of it called "Ordinary world". It's a lot like this song in that its deeper than just being about girls.
I have always saw this song the way Lex sees it. It's about who that one person is in your life that knows the real you. The one that knows all the good, and all the bad, but loves you regardless.
On this song and message, you both seem to be on the same wavelength, which is wonderful. You both seem to communicate well when both in tune to a song, and feel what it represents!
I liked the 80s Duran Duran... but the 90s... AWESOME! "Ordinary World" is another awesome one! Great reaction and interpretation!
One of my all time favourite songs. Try "The Chauffer", it's different from most of what you usuall hear.
Lex feelin' the music: "This is deep"
Brad: "what's it about?"
Rest of us: Amazing musicinship
Great Song, Love it! No One was Bigger than Duran Duran back in the Day!
Duran Duran was my favorite when I was 8 years old. Then boom, 10 years later, they come out with this jam. I was glad to hear it! They are Rock 'n Roll Hall Of Fame'rs now :)
Duran Duran is my favorite eighties and beyond group! I love lead singer, Simon Le Bon’s voice! I really liked Alex’s interpretation of the song! I’m a Duranie for life so that’s high praise! 😂. The lyrics were wrong, she says, “Can’t ever keep from falling apart”! ❤❤
Other good bands/singers British 80's Eurasure, Alison Moyet, Eurythmics. Those are on my 80's playlist but I'm sure there'll be more.
Might just be my favorite DD song. And I grew up listening to them in the 80's.
It's such a sexy song! Probably my favorite by Duran Duran.
Duran Duran is one of my favorites.
Love hopping in my classic Z28 with the T-Tops out and going for a spirited drive in the country with this song (among many others) blasting on the radio.
When I first heard that song it was in 1993 with my Walkman Sony cassette. Love this song ever since!
Thanks for listening to Duran Duran! One of my favorite bands! I can't stand it man! Bars! They have so many hits and some unfamiliar songs to the general public would be "Violence Of Summer" "Falling Down" ft. Justin Timberlake, "Meet El Presidente" "Too Much Information." Please react to "Electric Barbarella." Thanks!
great song and reaction! One of my faves from Duran Duran. nothing else to say!
One of the best songs of the 90’s
Need to watch the video, Duran Duran was one of the many *very* visual bands of the 80's.
Love this song it’s a step forward in their style in the late 90s. I was 17 when this one came out and we blasted it in my concession stand at the amusement park I worked at as my first job.
Hell yes one of my all time favorite songs! This is gonna be good!
I asked you guys, a long time ago, to play some of DDs first albums. Duran Duran, Rio, and Seventh and the Ragged Tiger. Those are the albums that got them into the Hall of Fame. Or they wldnt have asked Andy back.
Yeah, songs that made a band popular are often better than their songs once they've become popular.
When you break down, it's your real friends and lovers that matter.
These guy's kick off North American tour this August.
Duran Duran - Save A Prayer
Ordinary World, best Duranies song.
I agree Lex. We all need to stay true to ourselves and stop trying to be someone else or try being something we aren't. I personally stay who I am and if someone doesn't like it then I really don't give a....I will always be who I am first and not care what anyone else thinks. I think both of you get that as well.
The girl singing is, “nena cherry”. She did the song, “Buffalo stance” should check that song out.
Gorgeous song with an incredible message. JUST BE YOURSELF!!!!! STOP PRETENDING!!!!
Lol why was I obsessed with this song when I was 10? Oh yeah, MTV
Holy, crap, Lex's analysis of this song just turned on an entire chandelier of light bulbs for me. I was never sure what it was about, but what she said just put so many pieces into place for me. I'll be listening to this song more closely now.
I always like that Duran Duran video with that dude tied to that wheel going round and round going in the water hell how much fun would that be come on brother talk to me here s*** all right now let's get it right here all right getting it right when I be about brother Stone put National bit the house song you doesn't don't that I also time you don't let loose
Power Station Power Station brother you might want to look at up
I bet your ass should have liked to been on that wheel going around and around
Duran Duran also did a cover song for James Bond movie.. great song. " View to a kill".
Gosh this is masterpiece
Love this tune. I was a DJ for a while back when this was smackin and I played it all the time.
Lex was pretty much on point with her interpretation of this song.
Congrats Duran Daran for making the HOF!
What a song from Duran Duran wooooow
Brad is always dissecting and trying to make sense of everything using knowledge and wisdom and Lex just so simple , love watching them
Their great videos and MTV made them superstars back when. Hungry like the wolf, was my favorite.
#ToolArmy
Been a fan of DD since I was a kid, I'm 48 now and happy to see them still making great music . Congrats to DD for being inducted into the Rock&Roll Hall of fame, they deserve it 👏
"Stay wilder than the wind" could be a subtle reference to a song called "Wild Is the Wind" which was recorded by Johnny Mathis and later covered by Nina Simone and David Bowie. I would suggest listening to the versions by Simone and Bowie.
I don't know that all the lyrics on this video were correct. This is 93 "comeback" DD. Three out of the five original members and a new guitarist. They made excellent music during this era, but it's an entirely different version from 80s heyday DD. That's not a bad thing with this group. One of their greatest talents is keeping their finger on the pulse of what is happening in society and staying relevant without deviating from who they are. I'd still love to see you guys check out baby DD and some new romantic genre with Careless Memories or Planet Earth and also still would love for you check out Rio, official video too.
I had that same thought about the lyrics transcription.
Hi Brad and Lex. Just discovered your channel. Lovin you both but I got to say Lex has an insight and a take on things that lifts me up. Astute. All the best
Mitici duran duran! greetings from Italy
She nailed it! 😉👍
Yes! You did this song!! Fun fact: three of the five members last name is Taylor…none are related
The best band ever period
i think the lady has nailed it, nice one Lexi
Nice cut ...lex nailed it I think...one that I listen too in the service...played in Germany 🇩🇪 alot late 80s.
Nice! Undoubtedly one of the best Duran songs you could have picked to react to.
You guys need to react the the real video, not just the lyrics because the actual video is hauntingly beautiful.
Listening to this song since my childhood and love it 😍
I just love watching Lex feeling the music. I love this song, and she is so right about the vibe, Lex feels it.
I honestly get the biggest kick out of whatever Lex has to say in these reactions. . Always such a funny and interesting perspective. Keep it coming guys!
Love your chanel , i'm an oder person who heard these songs when first released. I still love this music and am happy that you guys do as well! P.S. Lex cracks me up, she really feels the music! Blessing to you young persons!
You can't help but feel COOL listening to this as you're driving to Walmart or wherever at night, lol. It makes you forget for a minute about being an adult. At least that's just me. Peace and love!
I love come undone by Duran Duran such an amazing song 🆒👍😎
You should review the group Japan , they influenced Duran Duran
Favorite Duran Duran song :)
Him... what's it about? Always lmaoooooo
Wow, finally a Come Undone reaction, nicely done
A beautiful song
You really gotta play ORDINARY WORLD!!!
Great song by Duran Duran Duran
Just a fantastic song!!
Same. This. Band is awome
I think you ready for Adam Ant. ( Goody Two Shoes, Strip and Wonderful )
Love the song
My Darkest Days does an excellent remake of this. A more upbeat different vibe....
Yall should check out Lamya she is female background singer on most of the tracks on the album ..Black Mona Lisa..sadly she passed away but they still use her background vocals on tour.
Great song
This would have been another guaranteed UK No.1 in the 80s! 🙏😄
