Duran Duran, the biggest band in the world during the mid-1980s & still going strong in 2024! Save A Prayer is a beautiful song & one out of many, many great songs in the band's catalog to choose from. Great choice for a reaction. Look forward to seeing your response.
One of the best, I could say. The 80s were full of great bands. I grew up listening to all these bands. Now I know how lucky I was.
Simon Le Bon's voice is killer!
Another gift from the 80's. John Taylor's bass lines will get you out on the dance floor. ✌️
I miss the 80''so. At the end of 1980 I was 10 at the end of 1990 I was 20...take me back❤
One of the few acts from the 80s STILL making NEW music today! In 2023 they were inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame!
This song and video reminds me of how awesome it was to be a teen in the 80s. Even despite the cold war, Reagan, Thatcher and AIDS. There's an energy in the music that just can't be found today.
Those early 80s Duran Duran videos were next level in their cinematography and location shooting. The videos (Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, Save a Prayer) are cinematic quality. The excellence of the songs combined with the popularity of MTV at the time, it really took the band to unprecedented heights.
This is one of my favourite tracks from Duran Duran .
The 80's was my era i was 19 years old in 1980 .What a time to be young it really was great at that age , just starting out in life m
My girlfriend and i went to Tenerife in 1980 and it was just like in this video . magical time .
I have told my family i want this tune played at my own funeral.🎶🎵
2 other tracks by DD worth reacting to are .
Come Undone &
Ordinary World
The 80's is a decade of exaggerations, very sad, very happy, many keyboards and synthesizers, really great bands passed through there, and Duran Duran was one of them without a doubt. tks Inna!!!😍
Yes Duran Duran are still touring a massive huge concert since September 2021 🎉🎉🎉and they are still touring I've seen um 73 times live worth every penny 🙏🙏🙏👍🙏👍 totally epic awesome amazing and they are still playing save a prayer and they get the ppl to turn on they're mobiles it looks amazing 👍👍👍 fantastic brilliant awesome amazing play next come on done the video on RUclips as reached 239 million plus views 😮😮😮enjoy 🎉🎉🎉
Save a prayer is a wonderful 80s classic and I still love the song like I did when I listened to it the first time.
So many great iconic DD songs but this early one is one of my faves.❤
One if there best songs ever top 5❤😂🎉
I love John Taylor's bass playing in this song. He's very underrated in this song.
He's one of the strengths of the band and this bass line made me love (and later get a) bass and appreciate JT's style forever
Duran Duran is one of the most iconic bands of the 1980s. Their music always brings back good memories! A big hug from Brazil to you Inna!! 😁🔰🔰
I’m a guitar player, Inna, and once u start understanding time signatures, u will never listen to music the same way again. Great song by DD!
That squiggly sound that you commented at the end of the video was the arpeggiator of the Roland Jupiter 8 synthesizer.
mmm... Roland arpeggiators...
80: golden age of music
I WAS HUGE FAN OF DURAN DURAN IN THE 80'S. THIS WHOLE VIDEO WAS SHOT IN SRI LANKA
We need some Depeche Mode live and in concert 😊
One of the best video/song combos ever.
Love the eighties! The greatest decade ever
Amen!
Great reaction. "Save A Prayer" was the first single that I bought at the age of 10. It's so nice to see younger folks getting into Duran Duran nowadays. So thanks!
"Save a Prayer" is a brilliantly written song about a one-time sexual affair but the music makes it sound romantic and heartfelt. MTV was a catalyst for many bands in the 80's and DD took full advantage of this medium to promote their product and their band. This video is beautiful and stunning, which only helped catapult this song into DD infamy. "Some people call it a one night stand, but we can call it paradise", a classic lyric. But John's bass playing is incredible.
Love the proceeding "And you wanted to dance, so i asked you to dance, but fear was in your soul". But something about this song resonates deep in the psyche. Think its the juxtaposition of being lonely in paradise, and the spiritual link. Lost love and trying to heal
They're so good, they got named twice!
Totally different time back then and I was there to experience all the dark yet pleasurable time of the 80’s
DD is an influential, innovating, global performance-powerhouse.
Most requests will usually be from their 1st decade (~82-92) bc of their '80s footprint; however, they're not solely an '80s band, they're both a band with iconic '80s music, plus a band with multi-decade success when it comes to new music & the fact they're continuing to perform globally for their large, multigenerational fanbases.
The '80s is just when they came on the scene & gained an immediate following of millions all over the world. This lead to their biggest impact on the charts, with a long string of hits between early/mid '80s & early 90s. This period did include amazing songs you should definitely listen too.
I just don't want people to stop there, by only reacting to early hit singles.
Those of us who bought & listened to entire albums know there's a lot of songs that could've charted, maybe even better than what was chosen, not to mention you'll miss out on some of their greatest work over past 25-30yrs of incredible songs/albums.
I'm so glad you mentioned the instrumentation details, bc many reactors often spend too much time trying to analyze lyrics or forget to make their main focus the song - vs the video, so they end up getting distracted & missing the entire point, meaning:
How does the song make you feel?
Another thing vocally to listen for is Simon Le Bon's layered vocals, whether it's his amazing ability to harmonize with himself or the background lines that may flow behind a line in the verse/chorus/etc…
It's part of why I recommend hearing studio versions 1st, because it best represents what the band wants the music to sound like.
It's not that you shouldn't ever listen to live versions, it's just that all those things they spent hours trying to perfect in the studio can't be replicated live…
Anyway, thanks for sharing your reaction. I'm glad you enjoyed it, as it's always cool to see someone vibing with your fav band.
Take care!
80's, that was something. Nostalgia explodes through my roof. Now I feel really old. ;)
"some people call it a one night stand, but we can call it paradise" ... Glorious 80s cheese there
My all-time favorite Duran Duran song, they have so many great songs, Wild Boys, New Moon On Monday, Rio, Hungry Like The Wolf, Planet Earth, A View To A Kill, Come Undone, Ordinary World, The Reflex
You have just heard one of, if not the, best four lines in 80s lyrics!
Best group ever
Best Duran Duran song by far.
One of my first records. Good stuff.
This brings back some memories 😎🎉
I love this song. ❤❤❤
No. When this video came out , people fell in love with Simon Le Bon. If only I could transport you back..
No! It's a great song. I leave it at that.
You would love to watch the “Rio” music video by Duran Duran!
Probably my favourite song by them ❤
This made my day!
I believe this video was filmed in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰, my father was born there.
Hi. That instrument that is heard at the end and throughout the background ballad is a very typical synthesizer from the music of the 80s and early 90s.
My favorite Duran Duran song, it always takes me back to a better time.
Dududududuuuuu I love Duran Duran and the 80's
They’re making those sounds with the synthesizer. Pretty much a staple instrument in the 80’s. This video is beautifully shot. Love how they got the elephants involved, and the interaction with the band the elephants and the people from Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰 🐘 🎥 🏝️
Super band and still going.
"Some people call it a one night stand, but We could call it paradise" got said so many times in the 80's. The wrong person says it, it's so cringe as to be potentially criminal or at least a pepperspray level offense.
May favorite Duran video of all-time
John Taylor, on bass, is awesome!! I didn’t fully appreciate DD back in high school (1983-1986), but I am making up for lost time. They are truly an incredible band!!
The 80s were an interesting decade for sure. I loved your reaction with that awesome accent, you should check out Ordinary World if you like Duran Duran.
My favourite song, the live version off the arena album is awesome
But you must admit Simon (the singer) is so cute ❤
I remember being on holiday in Spain in 1982 when this was out. It was being played everywhere. Magical. The other tracks I remember from that holiday, that were also being played everywhere were The Stranglers - Golden Brown, Depeche Mode - Meaning of love, Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra, Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen, Irene Cara - Fame and Survivor - Eye of the tiger. An amazing year for music. One of my favourite tracks from that summer was Imagination's Music and Lights. Lovely reaction btw xx
John is a GOAT on bass
He’s often overlooked when people talk about the best bass players and I’m screaming, “Just listen to these songs”!
Duran, Duran band’s name is an homage to the character Durand Durand from the Sci-Fi fantasy film Barbarella with Oscar winner Jane Fonda. Best Duran Duran songs: The Reflex, Come Undone, Girls on Film,Hungry Like the Wolf, Union of the Snake, and Rio might be their best.
Absolutely loved your reaction!!!!
Beautiful song and video, the landscape, enviroment. I guess this one was their very first radio hit, regarding here at Colombia, Bogota, back in summer of 1982, when I listened to it. After that, they took musical awards and global hits by storm, especially making the blockbuster world wide hit 1985 James Bond Movie sound track main song, "A View to Kill", highly recommended as well. Great reaction and your musical comment about this great 1982 tune.
The world was a gorgeous and magnificent place in the 80's. Not anymore, we ruined it all
Darling I which you were in the 80 whit us the life was so easy, not so complicate like today 😊😊
A concert from them is a women magnet!
100%
The sound you were asking about is a sequencer running a repeating 8 note pattern into a Roland SH-2 synthesizer put through a delay. It's 2 square waves with quite a short attack and sustain on the envelope.. then the magic comes in with the delay repeats. Where it goes all drunken at the end they are probably playing with the pitch bend :)
Good reaction! 👍
I remember how good it was to hear Duran Duran's hits for the first time - this one is kind of a journey! - and to watch their videos on TV (just to make it clear, I was a teenager and by that time there were not internet, social media, not even CGI).
And, if you enjoyed their music and want to react to one more of their "80's videos", I recommend to you the official music video to "A view to a kill" (soundtrack to a 007 movie - same title).
Welcome to the 80's!
Listen to "Matter of Feeling". Another great ballad from them.
If you're gravitating to the groove and the rhythm, best jump over to the Bass Guitar. Duran Duran's John Taylor is a gun on the bass
If you want to see early Duran Duran swag, check out "Girls on Film" video.
I reacted the same when I saw John Taylors face for the first time 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hello Miss Inna Warmest Regards from the Sunshine State of Florida 🇺🇲🌅🌞☀️🏝️🌎. This song Has A Great sound indeed !!! Not exactly which ones you have reacted to here are 3 More for you
1) Come Undone
2) Hungry like the wolf 🐺
3) Rio Grande
As always the like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🤗
The song is called Rio leave out Grande.
@@eamonconnelly8029 Thanks for the comment & Correction 😎👍
This is just the tip of the ice berg. There are so many hidden gems in their catalog , its mind blowing.Every song could be a single. You should review depeche mode `s ,"In your room" .
Good one!
Every teenage girl had a duran duran poster in the 80’s
They weren't just teenage girls. Guys like me and my friends and others were into DD as well.
that last sound you heard was nick rhodes on the synthesizer , i think and i could be wrong but those are arpeggios being playing on the synth but hes definately a talented keyboardest also a great base guitar player in this band , andy taylor , if you go back and listen to this song again keep your ears on that base and in all their songs for that matter , hes really good , and the lead singer simon labon came up with the lyrics , before i go i loved your reactions , i could tell you played an instrument or were taking lessons by the way you were listening , its so good to see a real musician react to these songs , i hope you react to more duran duran ,, they were my favorite growing up , at least one them ...
The bassist is John Taylor. Andy Taylor is the guitarist. Roger Taylor is the drummer and none of the Taylor's are related for those who are not aware. Simon Le Bon is the vocalist/lyricist & Nick Rhodes, as you say, the keyboardist.
The video to this song was filmed in Sri Lanka
Looking forward to this. Cheers from a Generation X'er in northeast Ohio.
the genius of Nick Rhodes, it must be something to see him creating those arpegios
All he did was flick the arpegiator switch on his Roland Jupiter 6
@@PjRjHj you are somewhat correct about flicking the switch but you do have to tweak the arpeggiator
I saw Duran Duran in concert every time they came to my country (1987,1988,1993, 2006, 3 times also at the Winter Olympics in Turin, 2008, 2012, 2016 and last year) every time they are a different show. If you want some advice, try reacting to one of their pieces live, they perform much better
Greetings from the 🇺🇦
I also like duran duran )
Duran Duran were MASSIVE! My fave of theirs is "Come Undone". "Ordinary World" was written after the lead singer lost a good friend.
You've started guitar lessons!? Nice! For some inspiration, check out Matt Corby's video "Trick of the Light (Live on The Resolution Tour)". He's a phenomenal musician and this song has some super funky guitar!
Listen again, feel the modulation into the first chorus and the drop (bewm!) back into the next verse. To really feel it, sing the harmony line. That is songwriting right there, bro.
I'd suggest watching "don't you (forget about me)" by Simple Minds
Hi Inna, I'm a 65 year old ex-Musician and I heard most of the music, because I was there as a Musician in the 1980s and know many of the songs so you may call it cheating😂, but I appreciate all the music so much that you and other younger people are learning on your computer other then like I did going to a record store and searching the bins to find something different? But it was so F'n fun to do
Guitar lessons Very cool....stick with it. Practice Practice Practice.....and at the end of the day PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE....
Ordinary World is one of their best you should check out
I saw DD live a year and a half ago. Simon Le Bon, if anything, sounds better now than he did then. He's evolved as a singer IMHO. Great gig.
That does have something to do with pitch correction, but what the hell, it sounds great!
@@dopiaza2006 LOL. You have no clue. Simon Le Bon has evolved and improved his vocal range.
@@eamonconnelly8029 LOL, I've heard the raw mic output. LOL. LOL.
@@dopiaza2006 You have no clue.
@@eamonconnelly8029 If you think Simon Le Bon doesn't use pitch correction then you are a fool. I never said he hasn't evolved and improved his vocal range, but if you want to have a strawman argument with me then fill your boots.
2 albums in past 2 years Future Past and this last October Danse Mcabre
it's kind of funny but when Duran Duran came out my niece hated them with a passion because she thought their lyrics were Chuvinistic but I've enjoyed thier music especially Wild Boys, The Chauffeur and Reflex just to mention a few. A great group and a Great Choice for a 1st time listening to the group.
Chauvinistic? Hardly. Your niece was clueless.
Watch Come Undone by Duran Duran
Sri Lanka
Next please reaction Noah band from Indonesia cover Adelle someone like you live konser
I love your videos, do Grateful Dead, like Scarlet Begonias or Friend of the Devil!! Anything DEAD.
Great band, definitely have a few great songs.
I rarely sub to music react channels but you seem pretty open and ecstatic to get some random suggestions. Here's another one, "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen, the most 80s song ever.
Recomend this version música
Eagles Of The Death Metal - Save A Prayer (Duran Duran Cover)
You are beautiful and the rest is wonderful.
Good group.......I recommend Roxy Music as well, cheers!
More Than This is a masterclass in smooth groove!
@@dopiaza2006 Avalon is one of their most beautiful songs.
@@eamonconnelly8029 At least we can agree on something :)
