@@Tremonte i don't know much about resistors, but in the video you said you need a 20 or 22 ohm resistor but then sent a link for a 400-770ohm resistor?
@@NoDayz0ff because a 20-22ohm would require a higher wattage rating, and is not as easy to find . You can use the one linked that is lower wattage and will work just fine.
That's a fantastic video. Not that many maintenance videos on RUclips for the Z650 so really want to say thank you for doing this, helped me a ton while changing the air filter and spark plugs on mine.
For if anyone needs to know when you unplug the fuel line a smallish bit of fuel does come out but it does not need to be empty. Just try to have some towels ready.
Thank you! could not have gotten to the coil packs without your help. Just installed a TransLogic Quickshifter on my wife's Z650. Truly plug and play kit, did not have to touch any settings to get smooth shifts.
While the vids are informative and fun to watch, you obviously have a background in electrical work and or engineering because you know all the names to all the parts and have a huge understanding of the construction and wiring of the bike. I'm sure a lot of that is basic knowledge to you but for noobs or people just looking to save $$$ on bike maintenance that honestly seams like a lot. Plus you have a tremendous amount of patience. So keep up the great vids but I wouldn't necessarily call these mods and hook ups easy stuff.
Sorry to disagree with most people here, but i could almost not see anything you were doing down there. I guess i will have to figure out how to remove the plastic covers, tank and then the airbox to get to the spark plugs myself...
The connection mounted to the bike, where your fuel pump plugs into for power, where does it lead? Mine was stolen a couple years back, after recovering it last year, installing a new wiring harness was one of the things I had to do, Some areas are lost on me, however I see from the video what I'm missing on that mount is where you power the fuel pump from, is it a lead straight to the battery or?
Hi Tremonte, thanks for this helpful video. I couldn't tell how you were able to take off the bottom air housing, what screw did you take off and what tool did you use? I see a tamper proof torx screw there, is that the one to remove? thanks
hello, do you know how to limit a kawasaki z650 control unit? Or would you know how to tell me if I changed the switchboard it would be limited? thanks for your time, greetings
Any issues with the resistor? I did a 23ohm resistor and it caught on fire and melted the plug. Any idea how to get a new plug? Or do something to fix this?
I watched your video- thank you- very informative. I got everything off, but I ended up finding a square rubber washer on the ground after I took my tank off. Any idea where it goes?? I don’t recall seeing it when I took everything apart.
I recently changed my air filter and don't recall any square rubber washers. There could have possibly been one between the air box and the pairing valve for vibration dampening. I can't remember since I deleted all of that.
Great video. Very informative. I have a 17 ninja 650 and this looks like its a lot more difficult than the older model in the other video. Roughly how much more hp and torque does the bazzaz add to the bike?
I been looking alot on your canal before i did buy a bike, and i got a used Z650 2018 model with only 4500km, its about 2800miles for e very good price, half of what it cost new. Problem is i live in Bangkok for the time and the bike runs hot coz many days its well over 40 Celsius outside and when i drive in traffic jams. I order a tuning exhaust, and im gone get a airfilter from DNA. And i have make a appointment for remap the bike so they can adjust the fan to kick inn at 90 degree Celsius and not 120 as stock. Did you see any different with working temp on the bike when you did your remap?
Omar Fahmy usually it's nothing more than plugging a line and rerouting the tank vent. Check with the ninja650 crowd. It's been around a while and I'm sure someone has done a write up or video.
Hey sir I have a question, 2017 ninja 650 did the two brothers full exhaust and I'm looking at your video about a block off plate and alot of forums say to put one on. My question is what were you needing to jump wires to avoid a CEL for? Is the plate going to throw codes? I dont plan on tracking or tuning. I have a power commander enroute now but I heard about popping in downshifting with aftermarket exhausts. Is this piece actually required? Since I have everything off for the PCFC I figured I'd look into doing it. Thank you for your videos, they've been instrumental in helping me do the mods and upgrades to my bike
+NutNbutSpeed it dumps air into the exhaust port to create a hotter mixture for emissions. That extra air can cause the sniffer on the dyno to give false readings. So in order to be accurate, a block off is needed. It also helps to reduce the popping from aftermarket exhausts.
Hi mate in Australia we just leave the pcv connected and put marbles inside the air hose. It give you no codes and effectively blocks the air flow. I have done this to my Z1000 stops all the backfire issues you get after an exhaust change also. Good video mate.
SHOVELCARD it is to remove the smog system on bikes that will be setup for the track. Without a plate, the smog pump will dump extra air into the exhaust ports and cause false readings during the tune session. There is no performance gain from doing this, it's solely for more accurate readings.
Was the addition of the resistor across the pair valve connector the final solution to prevent a CEL? What was the value of the resistor?
1/4W 770 Ohm - 1k Ohm or 1/2w 400 Ohm - 770 Ohm

Have it to be?
20 ohm 5 watt resistor? Did you just plug it into the adapter and electrical tape it? And did you have to flash the ecu after doing so?

is this all the same for a 2013 650abs? do i need the resistor? will it be a 22ohm @tremonte
Love your vids please do a vid on how to adjust the chain I have the same bike over here in the UK!

Hi Tremonte, any idea to add rubber bushing or what not to reduce to vibration?
I'm struggling putting the fuel tank back on its bolts fitting.. Am I missing something ? any advice ?
Does the gas tank have to be empty before removing it ?
Not entirely. It will reduce the weight of the tank and make handling easier though.
Tremonte, thanks for your videos, really informative and intersting. Would you happen to know how to remove the evap canister for CA spec Z650 models?

Were there any specified torque values on any of the bolts removed? Specifically for the tank?
The values are in the service manual. Most are only around 20-25ft-lb, so not much at all.
What's the air filter you would recommend??
how long does this take?? i have an vf500 an the tank is 2 screws :)

Did you ever find the answer to this?
Hi there!
Any ideea if the air filter is pleated paper or wet?
It's not a wet filter.
What exactly does the Blockoff Plate do? Not sure how it helps to get more accurate dyno readings.
+NutNbutSpeed it dumps air into the exhaust port to create a hotter mixture for emissions. That extra air can cause the sniffer on the dyno to give false readings. So in order to be accurate, a block off is needed. It also helps to reduce the popping from aftermarket exhausts.

Farmer Joe Do whuuut? Why not just plug the nipple with a vacuum cap and slide the hose over the cap.
it is possible to remove change sparkplug without remove the fuel tank ?
no. the tank has to be removed
Is there that big of a performance increase by removing the smog pump? You never mention a reason other than for "future performance mods".
The reason is in the first 30 seconds of the video
