This is a great video dude. I had no idea hens stacked on top of other hens could feed from the same stack of food! At 9:44 you seem to have had issues with the chicks hatching outside of their coop. I have found that egg placement is *key* . The eggs need to be as close to centered on the 1x1 floor as possible to avoid this. I hope this helps you, and anyone trying to recreate this breeder for their own world!
@@hazardpay8560 thrown items seem to follow an arch when tossed, if you're having trouble with precise placement it could be helpful to put up temporary build pieces to help funnel things where you want them to go.
That chicken tower is impressive, i never know that the chickens can reach the food that far, i always thought the food must be right in their face in order for them to eat
This is a great build. I tried the various ones with sloping roof tiles and the eggs would often get stuck. But this version works brilliantly. Well done.
I am supposed to be editing my own videos, but I'm binge watching yours.. hehehe great job here, did not know you could stack them, thanks now I need to redo my own design hehe
@@KyleAxington Curious, was this made prior to the Witch update. tried several ways and 3 row of chicken will not eat and to get the 2nd row to eat have to break the boards so they land on top of first row chickens. thinking they changed something. 10 meter radius etc no issues, ones that are eating continuous breeding no issues, just others cannot eat.
I made this after the Bog Witch update. That's odd, the ones I did for the video all three rows ate. The breeder I have on my current playthrough does have one on the top that won't eat, it may be a matter of how it's facing? Might help to re-hatch one in place of the one that won't eat.
@@KyleAxington yeah, I did a re-hatch on the top ones also. most times even if they are turned opposite they will turn for the food, but tried it anyway. all facing correctly just not eating. could be anything causing it though. I'll try another world see what happens.
This works really well! Perhaps TOO well. Make sure you remove any excess eggs that may be sitting around when you set up the heat source for the chicken meat side in the basement. I had so many chicks hatch at once that they exploded out of the cell, and indeed, out of the building itself. That was not very fun to clean up. Oh yeah, and if you are crazy enough to build this in the Plains, you want to reinforce the backs of the hen boxes with at least another 1 meter of wall. Deathsquitos can aggro and kill your hens straight through the wall otherwise.
I haven't tested anything but I would suspect that the cage walls in front of the hutch are critical as those are the thinnest walls in the game. I suspect if you used any other wall, for instance crystal or regular wood, it would not work because the walls would be too thick for them to eat the seeds.
outstanding build. im having an issue with the top right chicken on either side not eating. ive tried throwing the food every different way and still nothing. Any ideas? Nonetheless won't complain with 16/18. thanks for the build!
I have that problem as well, I have had them eat after taking them out and re hatching one in it's place. It just seems to be finicky some times. Thanks for watching!
It's still working on my playthrough. I don't know what the issue could be other than food placement which should be, I have mine touching the cage wall and it works fine.

Thanks for that! And thank you for that tip, very helpful!
Is there a precise way to drop the eggs? i'm throwing the damnable things all over the place

I love this! Way better than anything I have seen or tried!! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you Sarah!
That's so awesome! Thanks!
Thank you! ❤
Just went on a 7 video binge of all your builds this one sparked a lot of interest ! Keep em coming subbed! :D
Thank you, very much appreciated!
That was impressive 🤩 Best looking and most effective nugget machine I've seen👏👏
Thank you Jarlaxle!

Thanks! I discovered that by accident, it was pretty surprising.
Great video, great farm! Nicely jobbed, Kyle! 🤘
Thank you very much Captain!
A really nice looking build and also: very well explained, everything!
Thank you very much Splash!

Thanks! I had trouble with those designs too, I'm glad this was helpful.
great build and excellent explaining. i will shurely try this style. thanks.
Thank you!

It's easy to get sidetracked for sure. Thanks for the binge Helga!
Great idea!
Thanks Captain Fossil!
Excellent build Kyle, Love the stacking and Puffer fish.
Thank you Storm!

Sorry, I don't have any idea. Valheim being Valheim.
What a great idea 💡 Never thought of these! Thanks for the video man ❤ Great job!
Thank you very much!
Incredible, I like building cool castles but I need better factory farms, this is just excellent. Good detail too.
Thanks! I hid a couple of these breeders in a castle tower on my last playthrough, you can never have enough food factories!
1:48 "for more compact and efficient design" one way to describe this situation :)
😁
Looks great, I want to try this.
Thanks!
great video!
Thanks!
this change the game for me, stacking them was something i never though will be posible for feeding.
I'm glad this was helpful!

This thing does pump out tons of eggs!
man your video & attitude are top notch (keep this up!) but please also invest in a new microphone, thanks! subbed!
Thank you! Getting a new mic is actually on the to do list.
Hey Kyle, really nice looking build. Long time no see, how ya been?
Thanks Vinny! Yeah it's been awhile, doing alright. Hope all is well with you guys.
Wow, that chicken tower is sure built to last! Ha ha!
Yes it is, thank you!

I have not tested crystal walls, I do know that regular wood walls do work as I've used those in previous designs.

My hens face the wrong way and do not eat. Does this build need to face a certain direction?
The build doesn't have to face a certain way. Sometimes the hens don't want to work right, I just take it out and hatch a new one in its place.
Please make a tutorial on how to make a good and massive ashvine farm.
I actually did make one about vines, not a farm specifically, but it may be useful.
@@KyleAxington I know :). I watched it and it is very good. I think one about farming is necessary.
I made this, the chickens won't eat....idk what gives?
Not sure. Sometimes they seem finicky but they should eat if the food is placed against the cage wall.
I got it working for 5 mins, then my husband accidentally picked up the seeds and now I can't get them to eat again....😢
does this still work? i copied and the hens wont eat :(

I still don't understand how you're going to feed them...
The food just needs to be in front of them, they can eat it through the wall for some reason.
@@KyleAxington I'm doing something wrong. Mine don't eat through the wall...
they wont eat
