There is a mod for this. Makes it so you don't have to fuel any fire. I always have it on becuase I don't have the time to go fuel 80 torches all over my village

My hens face the wrong way and do not eat. Does this build need to face a certain direction?

I did everything and listened to everything, yet when they hit 100% healthy, they go ABOVE 100% healthy and the number turns red - and eventually it vanishes. Been at this for about an hour, any idea what I could be doing wrong? Tried multiple walls, multiple biomes, multiple distances. Won't even cling to a wall.

Thanks for the video. One thing I did that isn't necessarily an improvement but I think it's cool. I put an item stand in the water since my base is on a waterfront and put a serpent trophy on the item stand to freak out guests since it's also kind of hidden. Kinda fun.

This is a great build. I tried the various ones with sloping roof tiles and the eggs would often get stuck. But this version works brilliantly. Well done.

This works really well! Perhaps TOO well. Make sure you remove any excess eggs that may be sitting around when you set up the heat source for the chicken meat side in the basement. I had so many chicks hatch at once that they exploded out of the cell, and indeed, out of the building itself. That was not very fun to clean up. Oh yeah, and if you are crazy enough to build this in the Plains, you want to reinforce the backs of the hen boxes with at least another 1 meter of wall. Deathsquitos can aggro and kill your hens straight through the wall otherwise.

My man this is so incredibly creative, absolutely stealing the tent idea. Also, placing surtling trophies down as permanent lightsources for hanging braziers is an actual stroke of genius!

I still don't understand how you're going to feed them...

I haven't tested anything but I would suspect that the cage walls in front of the hutch are critical as those are the thinnest walls in the game. I suspect if you used any other wall, for instance crystal or regular wood, it would not work because the walls would be too thick for them to eat the seeds.
