Yeah. We are a bit sensitive to that. Mainly because we were forced to be part of Eastern block (which slowed down our potential growth and many innocent people were torchured and sentenced to death by the Communists just because they were inconvenient). Before the WW2 we had the best Industry in Europe. The WW2 and 40 years in Communism destroyed most of that. I know many slovak people and I have to say they have very different mentality. Of course language is similar, but really thats it. May be it has something to do with slovak being "occupied" with Hungary for really, really long time.
There were some economical differences and a slight rise of nationalism after The Velvet Reovlution so the two most prominent politicians on both sides Klaus and Mečiar decided it will be better to split the country rather than to be in troublesome union. To be honest no one actually asked people whether they want to separate the state or not. The debate is still up to date, some journalists and politicians suggests that majority of people of both nationalities would choose to remain in unified republic if they were asked in the referendum.... Nevertheless the separation worked out for both sides and we remain to be best friends....
There is an excellent documentary from the Czech national TV about it. The split was peaceful because the "people" did not want to separate really, it was more the politics who wanted the split (No fighting with brothers). Slovaks and Czechs are family - blood ties and cultural influences. The Czechs helped to educate Slovaks and Slovaks helped build and defend Czechia. Slovakia was been repressed by Hungary for many decades and was there for behind the Czechs in education. So after Slovakia joined with Czechia the Czechs had to send teachers, doctors and others to Slovakia to balance this out...that was a HUGE help for the Slovaks. The Slovaks had resources and manpower on the other hand..... perfect combination. I think personally, that if the idea of Czechoslovakia would have been given more time and a little bit more effort, it would have been a great successes story to day. But not all was separated, we still do extremely many things together like business, cultural festivals, no border controls (even before the EU), science, education, transportation and so on. We are only separated on a map but not in our hearts and blood.
Thank you for your experience and comment Captan. I really do like Turkish people. Very polite people tbh especially Turkish people of Vienna. Greets to Ankara!

Hi, I'm a Czech teacher in primary school. Thank you very much for this video. I admire the minorities, who are trying to learn our difficult language. The Czech Republic is really free for only one century. I am proud, that our people were able to come together and that there was a Czech national revival in 19th century, thanks to which we are the real free Czechs. =)
I thought German was a tough language to learn but czech is on another level, I will try to validate my degree in Czech Republic, the first test is in English so it's okay but the second is in Czech and I'm trying to learn the language but I got so frustrated because no matter how much a study I just can't remember most of the things 🥲😅

Příběh Řehoře Předměřického: Řehoř Předměřický, hřmotný břicháč, příležitostný řezník - uzenář, přikvačil před železářství. Překonal dveře, otřel křusky, křičí: "Potřebuju křovinořez, keř přerůstá přes střechu!" Železář Řepa přináší přes třicet překrásných křovinořezů, Řehoř překotně přebírá. "Prostřední neřeže nejhůř," přemítá železář. Rozzářený Řehoř přijímá, blahořečí Řepovi. Před železářstvím uzřel taxikáře. "Řeřichová třináct," říká taxikářovi Pařízkovi. Přijíždějí přímo před Předměřického příbytek. Řehoř přeskakuje přítelkynino vřesoviště, přistavuje přichystaný žebřík. Přes čtyřicetikilové břicho střelhbitě míří vpřed. Křovinořez větří řežbu. Řehoř řeže přebujelé křoví. Břidlice přístřešku, hřebenáče, kabřinec přívětivě vyhřezávají před Řehořem. Přestává řádit, šeřík zmořen, vyřízeno. Přešťastná přítelkyně Řehoře Předměřického, Kateřina Řeřábová, vřele připravila přepracovanému příteli večeři: řízek, kukuřičné křupavé řezy, hříbkový přeliv, křen, řízný březňák. Řádně přejedený Řehoř nezřízeně říhl. Ať žije naše Ř!

I know many slovak people and I have to say they have very different mentality. Of course language is similar, but really thats it. May be it has something to do with slovak being "occupied" with Hungary for really, really long time.

Přesně řečeno.(Strictly speaking)
nepouzivej google translator, strictly speaking znamena neco uplne jineho...
y did u guys break up?
Come "Czech" this one out! A-hahahahaha!

Volim Češku,pozdrav iz Hrvatske🇭🇷🇨🇿
I thought German was a tough language to learn but czech is on another level, I will try to validate my degree in Czech Republic, the first test is in English so it's okay but the second is in Czech and I'm trying to learn the language but I got so frustrated because no matter how much a study I just can't remember most of the things 🥲😅
