I had never heard of cabbage steaks, until I watched you make these, & now they’re a family favorite. Thank you so much for sharing your delicious recipes. 😊
Kevin, do you ever feel like not cooking? Do you always present so elegant or just on filming day? I'm really curious. Everything is so thoughtful. Mr. Fox is a lucky man.
I am a cabbage lover, and it is so healthy. I will try making it this way. Simple, uncomplicated, meatless dinner. Vegans could use plant butter. Not to be religious, but would work well for a Lenten supper. Also for those who are cutting back on meat. I like how you made the eggs in the biscuit cutter rounds.
I made your cabbage steaks tonight as a side dish to perogi. It was outstanding. My partner wasn’t sure about it but he had to admit that he was sold on them! Thank you Kevin!
I love cabbage steaks! I always try different seasonings. I did Mexican style cabbage steaks and a egg with tabasco. So yummy 😋 Thanks for the recipe. I am diabetic so perfect for me.
Ohmygosh, I did this from memory tonite. And, I actually remembered how to do it, watching the video again lol :-) These cabbage steaks were delicious! They tasted like caramelized veggie noodles. The best veggie noodles I have tried. We made a snack-ish dinner of bagels with cream cheese and herbs. And, the cabbage steaks were a delicious addition! Thankyou so much for a great recipe and a tasty way to prepare cabbage!
Oh My Gosh!!! I just made the cabbage steaks for my dinner. I just had the seasoned cabbage. What a revelation and so easy! The cabbage was about 5" in diameter (13 cm) and about 3/4" (or 2cm) thick. I nearly ate the whole thing and only have two steaks left. And, lol, I ate all the caramelized edges on the pan, too. Thanks again Kevin! Have a good week!
I am going to make all of your recipes. This one is already a favorite because I have a recipe using savoy cabbage topped with grilled salmon. It's delicious. Merci!
This is a great video! I have NEVER heard of making cabbage steaks. I will give this a try very soon. It looks healthy AND delicious! Thank you so much for showing us how to do this! I love your stories you share. You are always so great. One of the many reasons we love you and Mr. Fox! Take care, be safe and keep making your wonderful recipes and video! Much love to you and Mr. Fox! 😊💖🙏
Genius, Kevin! My husband & I love cabbage & I do a similar dish to this by putting the cabbage "steaks" in the steamer for a half hour, then browning them in butter for the caramelization, but it makes SO much more sense to just roast them from the get go! Why have I never thought of that?? Because my husband's a big active guy who needs a bit more protein than this provides as is, I top the cooked cabbage slices with a seared ham steak or thick slice of baked ham, then top it all off with a cooked egg. Heaven!
Kevin, I tried this meal for breakfast this Sunday morning, but with poached eggs. It was a hit! Really, good. We also put a little Cholula sauce on the side. It worked well too. Thank you for sharing.
So glad I tuned in! At first I thought this was Cabbage, Steaks and Eggs but realized... Oh cabbage steaks! I like cabbage especially raw in a salad or slaw but this looks so yummy! Thankyou! Thanks also to the woman from the garden tour! Thankyou Kevin! 💚
Well I can't believe I never thought of this. These look magnificent! Thank you for this recipe. I wonder if Penzey's online has your steak seasoning.... hmmmm.

Re: MONTREAL STEAK SEASONING: Greetings, Kevin! I have these in the oven as I write this. Can’t wait to try them! QUESTION: Did you ever locate some Montreal Steak Seasoning? (You mentioned you were having a challenge finding some.) If not, I can ship you some from here, in Ontario, Canada. It would be my gift and my pleasure...as a thank you for sharing your recipes. Do you have a public email or PO Box number - Or advice as where to ship? All the best! Edit: Cabbage steaks were delicious! 🙏🏼
I love cabbage but never know what to do with it, so now I know! Thanks for this simple recipe. xo ps Does anyone have ideas for what to serve alongside? This would be enough for me, but my son and husband would be starving if this is all I gave them. Was thinking rice, but what else? What's another veg side that would go well?
I think a creamed vegetable would work out nicely here. Creamed spinach or creamed peas come to mind. Green beans cooked with bits of ham would be lovely too.
Hi Kevin, if you haven’t found the Montreal Steak spice and still wanted some I can send it to you if you wish. I’m just heading home to Canada for Xmas from AZ. PM me your mailing address if so. Cheers from 🇨🇦 or Az at the moment.

I remember making brunch for a crowd in the late 80s and used washed tuna cans (top & bottoms disgarded) as egg rings.

Cabbage steaks , a great way to use a flavorful but inexpensive ingredient. Don’t ever do a zucchini dish!
