im blown out with your workmanship on your hr ute you have left nothing untouched i take my hat off to you it will have to be the best hr ute ever built in Australia! im just watching your video for the second time this morning keep up the great work! kind regards cs nsw Australia
My Dad had this same exact Ute. Two tones, white on top and powder blue on bottom. As kids it was just another car that Dad had at that time, but as I have aged, it was a classic. I love seeing what you are doing with this 1967 Ute. DM.
a friend had HD ute with a stinking wild 179 hp block 3 2nch su`s and extractors yellow with some special alloy mags - wow what a goes it was i always remember that little red motor doing old valiants 318 and 308 holdens back in 1979 !
Mate you are a genius an absolute genius at the work you do & whoever paid you for this work done on this Holden HR ute it's been money 💰 well spent 👏 👍
Absolutely beautiful build, looking Awesome so far, Old school panel beater fabricator by trade and spray painter, I'm watching cheers 🥂🍻🍺🍺🍻🥂 KC Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺😎🙂👍👊
Your imagination, design skills & workmanship are 10 levels above the next level!!! The ute is so heavily modified yet so subtle, bloody amazing. Would love to see what you could with a custom bike build Thanks for sharing your skills in your excellent videos. Cheers Brian.
Hi Robert just found your channel and I'm amazed by the clean work that you are doing to this build. Thank you for sharing your video 📹 watch from sunny Hermanus South Africa 🇿🇦
My DIY medium has always been timber or wood...I've played with steel a bit here and there, but watching this kind of fab work just blows my mind. This channel is well worth a sub, I'm hooked already! 👌
Thanks Adam. I love to work with timber as well. Metal is a little more forgiving I feel. If you make a mistake you can always weld it back up, whereas timber you'll probably have to start again. Thanks for the sub🙏
A number of years ago I was a sheet metal apprentice and as a class we took a tour of the Holden Factory in Woodville. I couldn't get over how at each process of building the car as to how rusty it became before painting. They just painted over the rust. Explains why my Dad's FB holden was so full of rust.
Yeah I have heard of stories where they would store the cars out in the weather in bare metal. Not sure how true it is but after working on these old Holdens I can believe it.
@@ProShop1 All good mate. I'm not sure if it was you or your customer but that was the best bummer I had seen in sometime when I was asked if I had one or could fined one as that one was more solid then others I had come across. Be cool to finally see the ute finished
YOU ARE TRULY A YOUNG MASTER, YOUR WORK IS NOTHING SHORT OF STUNNING, YOU ARE GOING TO GO A LONG WAY IN THIS FIELD, ..... BY NOW YOU HAVE PROBABLY WORKED OUT, (AS I DID) , THAT BEING A PERFECTIONIST IS ACTUALLY A CURSE, lol, I'LL BE WATCHING, "Satt Custom Automotive". MAXXAUS.
Great work mate. I have a 1965 HD Ute waiting for the same treatment, {luckily, mine has less rust.} you've given me some great idea's, or more to the point, I already had some idea's, you've just shown me how to achieve them..! Thanks..
I learned to drive manual gears on an HR ute, will always have a soft spot for them. This one is going to be amazing. I owned an EH wagon for a couple of years in the late 70s, baby blue with white roof. It had a 161 from an HR in it and three on the tree. Only issues when I bought it for $450 were brakes and rusty floor. Brakes were easy to fix and a friend of mine's father who had a panel beater shop replaced the floors and coated them for $180. About three years later I sold it to a friend for $550 and it was stolen and not seen again. Wish I still had that car.
Nice work guys, I’m guessing there was a few hours in there that’s hard to justify to the customer And when it’s painted you won’t see the time and effort that’s been put in. Awesome 👍
@@ProShop1 Yeh maybe ..massive job for you replacing sections that rusted out. You must have spent alot of hours on it.. cost alot of money to do all that work too
Insanely good. I've got a HR ute myself with similar rust, especially the rear floors. Its still registered and driving but one of these days I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and do something like you've done. This is fantastic info, love the detail so big thank you
I love watching detailed builds like this. This Ute is going to be epic. I couldn't help but notice you were switching in between tig and mig? I am new to welding, so I was just wondering why? Also, why the silicon bronze over steel filler rod with the tig? Thanks for sharing your builds with us.
Sometimes I'll use mig to tack a panel together before tig welding it. It's a lot easier if I need to hold the panel in place and tack it with the mig. Some other joins I'll run a few stitch welds with the mig instead of tigging the whole panel. It really just depends on the panel. Also I prefer to use silicon bronze as it is a lot softer so less heat and less distortion. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Fantastic video!!! I've been looking for years trying to find an informative hr ute build like yours, great job. I started on my own hr ute build a few years ago and have stalled once I realized extent of floor rust (just like yours) This video has re-motivated me and answered alot of questions on how. Can I just ask what size and gauge the shs is that's used on chassis work? Thanks, Robert.
Thanks Robert. If you don’t care about it being totally original then cut it all out and start fresh. It’ll save a lot of time and money. After doing the HR and the EH I’ve learnt boxed chassis rails and a flat floor is the way to go. The rails are 3mm thick 65x65 RHS.
@@ProShop1 Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, cutting it all out is exactly what I would love to do, just wasn't sure how before watching your video. Gotta love a clean slate!!! Thanks again, Robert.

Beautiful work.
