- Welcome back to Pro Shop. Finally the HR Holden is heading off to the paint shop. In this video I will be stripping the car down to a shell and making a frame for the car to sit on while it has the body work done. Also I have to finish all the little things that I couldn’t do while the car was together.
As always thanks to my beautiful partner Anika for the video edit

Best hr Ute I’ve ever seen 😮holly wow
Cant wait to see this hr ute painted and back together it looks unreal in bare metal its a real credit to your workmanship keep the videos coming
You and me both Chris. I've looked at it so much in bare metal that I might miss it once it painted. Good thing it is going silver. Thanks again.
Amazing HR Ute
Great work . Great vid. Lot of horses going in the ol'/new girl.
Thanks 👍
Can’t wait to see it painted!
I think I'm more excited than the owner.
Absolute gem Pete, I'm a massive aussie car fan and this is the only build ive watched on your channel can't wait to see what the paint looks like on this gem. 👍
Awesome, thanks for watching🙏
TOP JOB GUYS!!💚💥👊
Thanks Glen🙏
Looks great as a shell
Yeah got to love the bare metal.

Great vids Pete and even better build 👌
Thanks 👍
Love your work, bro!!!
Thanks Andrew
Good Work, it's going to be a neat Ute.
Thanks. I have done my best and now it's up to the painter🤞
Just like a perfection robot. 🤖 👍🏻
Cheers mate
I like the way you do all the assembly before paint. I just don’t get it when you see someone drilling or welding on a painted car when it should have been done before paint.
Thanks Andrew. There's a lot of extra time involved to pre fit everything but it's worth it in the end.
Dope !
Amazing man.
Thanks Bill. I'm glad you're enjoying the vids
Fricken awesome work man & loved the background tunes too
Thanks. Have to give credit to Anika for that one.
@@ProShop1 Well then, Anika, you did a great job, Thanks.
Awesome video's...
Thanks mate
Well done on the painting frame, you’re using the think twice make once rule.. only a few people use this rule… love the attention to all details on your builds & vids.
Thanks mate. It takes a lot of time and effort but it's worth it in the end.
Massive job welding this back together. Why does the tig welds look like brazing rod? Are all the replacement panels zinc anneal not just flat plate.
Sometimes I use silicon bronze tig rods and yes a lot of the sheet metal I use is zinc anneal mainly where I don’t need to shape the steel.
What a shame the tail lights werent changed to HR wagon ones.
eh holdens and ratrods im in
Great work mate. How’s the Camaro going can’t wait for more on that one
Thanks. The Camaro has just come back from paint. I’ll do an update on that soon.
Mate the front end on that is telling me that its a hd Ute as it only has the one pair of lights compared to the 2 pairs that hrs have
They’re def HR guards and the radiator support panel has the park light holes…the trend seems to be deleting the park lights in the grill. HD and HR really only differed in placement of front park lights and shape of the guards. Identical otherwise.
How much faster is it to do fab work in this style, compared to a classic/factory spec restoration?
It depends on the car and what you want to do to it. If your car has a lot of factory parts and panels available then it could be easier to build a classic spec car. This model car doesn't have a great aftermarket range so it was easier (for me) to fabricate a lot of the bodywork myself. For me it's a lot quicker.
My car is a complete and registered HR Ute, but it’s got an unknown amount of bog in places like the sills and guards. Plus some holes around the k-frame mounts and rear leaf mounts. A bit scared if I strip it back, how much of the Ute would be left 😅
If it's a hr are you going to fit a hr grill?
It's going to be a modified HR grill
@@ProShop1 cool
How much was spent on getting the car this far?
I couldn’t tell you what the owner spent but I’ve put in close to 800 hours so far.
@@ProShop1 it shows. Thanks for answering.
Any updates on this project?
It’s coming back soon
To much Brazing in these builds not enough welding
You don’t like silicon bronze to weld with?
@@ProShop1 no its brazing not welding lol use real steel not glue I bet you charge top dollar for glue
