And thanks for mentioning the jacket, I noticed that had disappeared. Hope the FAA is watching all of these 'amateur investigation' videos.
It certainly felt off to me although I lacked the data to be entirely sure the terminal velocity of this aircraft trimmed full nose down was less than that of a human. I do think it is implausible that it would be however the thing is designed to fly and as such to covert forward motion into lift. A human in free fall is a blobby ass brick by comparison whereas the plane is flying down to the ground generating lift as it goes.

Any opinion on this event happenening exactly 50 years to the very exact day of the famous DB Cooper robbery jump ? 24/11/1971 DB Cooper. 24/11/2021 T Jacob
except unlike DB Cooper, Mr. Jacob has zero skill. Say what you will about DB Cooper but being able to safely pull off a heist, jumping from a plane thousands of feet in the air using a little known feature of the 727 to escape the aircraft whilst in flight was something else. One physical artifact that everyone seems to have missed during their analysis... his facial hair has grown longer in the video where he’s shown walking to the crash site - in comparison to the video where he’s at the controls. In addition, the shot where he’s making his way to the waterhole goes from brightly lit sunshine - to dusk, in a matter of seconds. This simply does not happen anywhere on the planet.
It was a cut, he pointed the cam on the rocks and cut the frame - appears came back later (30+ to days later) at night and cut the start very close to where he cut from (planned as he points down then cut, resumes and pans up). However, it is clear it was a cut looking at it even if you exclude the light change.
I will say if you're talking about what I think you are with the waterhole shot that can totally be achieved by just changing the exposure on your phone with, it actually looks a lot like Apple's night mode for their cameras, which artificially brightens photos, sorta like really weak night vision, you can see how muted the patterns are and how everything is sorta blurry, he just turned that off and that caused the image to darken to more like what it really was. Why he did any of that? Your guess is as good as mine, he clearly didn't think this through very well
Your drone theory makes sense. I also wondered why he was able to film the plane from above given the half a minute free fall he made before opening the chute... very interesting!
I think he had a friend operating the drone on the ridge trail. Ironically, had he gone UP from the crash/landing site, there's a very prominent trail and a set of switchbacks that he WOULD HAVE seen while he was landing. I've hiked those switchbacks many times and I actually think one of the scenes where he's whining is just a few steps off the switchbacks. I also wondered where the wet jacket went. You'd think, if you're breaking trail through brush, you'd want to keep your arms covered. Did he pack a wet jacket in with his parachute?
The view and speech he gives at 5:05 is probably 10-15ft off the ridge line and nearly directly uphill from the landing site. I think he went up to the trail walked along it and then back down to the plane. It doesn't appear that he walked directly to the plane from the landing zone. That being said, I do think he had to do some badass bushwhacking to find the plane and this was still probably a super strenuous ordeal.
I’m glad people are bringing up trails. Hurricane Deck Trail is right on the ridge line by the crash (like stone throw distance). The whole thing was so obviously staged with Bald Mountain as the destination landmark.

something else that I found very strange from the first time I watched that incident (as presented by Mentour Pilot)- that guy is, probably, a professional parachutist, wearing a chute he can reasonably control while descending. why the heck doesn't he pick a suitable drop zone where he can land without injuries but drops into some bushes? just to create more drama? and if so, he ain't in danger but creating a stunt.
I feel that he landed safely somewhere and then created some shots of him struggling in the bushes. In what universe, do you still spend energy to film yourself trying to free yourself from bushes, dont' you need both of your hands ?
@@cecilemagnier7113 that's a good observation- you're right, that's totally unbelievable that somebody jumps, in panic, out of an airplane, than lands in some bushes and, instead of getting out of there as fast as possible, starts filming how he struggles with the branches. as pointed out somewhere else, the assumed injuries vanish in the course of the video- so he possibly made this up.
@@wolfhalupka8992 he also for whatever reason chooses to free fall for like 20+ seconds instead of clearing and pulling you know like you would do if it was an emergency and you needed as much altitude as possible to find a safe landing area.
Excellent analysis. One thing maybe worth mentioning: the indirect route to Mammoth isn’t unusual on its face. There are a number of reasons a pilot might take an indirect route. They might want to use a corridor with less commercial traffic. They might plot their course to include airports where they can refuel. They might want to stop for lunch at a particular airport. I don’t think Jacob was doing any of those things, but his route choice isn’t damning evidence that he planned to crash his plane.
Outstanding video, and I’ve been following the Trevor Jacobs saga as new videos are released, so have viewed many. Yours has info new to me and also explains the continuity errors first noticed. Perhaps it’s the lighting, but his beard looks different from shot to shot. In addition to everything related with the flight, his life-or-death trek out also does not ring true in many regards. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire; he’s just lucky there wasn’t fire due to the crash, or much of Southern California could now be a charred wasteland. Justice for Taylorcraft.
One small note. Some drones do capture audio. But you're going to hear the whine of the props louder than anything else, then the rush of wind. Anything else you hear will be faint. There can be a reason you might turn on audio recording, but it's not typical. But it is possible.
This is awesome! Great job of covering all the questions I have on this debacle and pointing out a few new ones. Trevor has done a really good job of providing all the evidence needed by the investigators to throw the book at him.
all of his "i wouldnt wish this pain im going through on anyone" pity party BS is just more evidence he is completely full of it. Also you can tell he put dirt and stuff on his face and head at 8:41 its clearly not natural - whereas right before that and afterwards around 9:25 you can see he's clean again
we have the same observation -he put the plane in downward clockwise spiral. I made a video about it lol I also found his drinking river spot and final destination is Manzana schoolcamp ground just 2 miles from the crash/impact site. You can match the mountains in his sunset shot to determine the direction.
The water bottle he holds up looks suspiciously like the same water bottle strapped into the passenger seat while flying. He already drank all of the potable water in it.
that plane-from-above really looked like taken by a stabilized drone- so he had assistance in that, and that stunt was clearly premeditated. the autorities really have some nice questions to ask that dude.
I agree. He had help. That's why it was so important for him to open the door and look straight down to know he was above the spot where his buddies were waiting with the drone, the same buddies who would be 'farmers coming to his rescue' later, without anything other than their shoes appearing on camera.
Some people claim that he flew to the crash site the day before. It might be that the drone footage was filmed them. That would also explain why the (allegedly un-manned) plane is seen to exit a turn, and then fly off straight. There is also some other indicators that the footage wasn't all taken the same day.
The FAA could find out when he was scheduled to fly, and if he went for a second jump when he did that. The FAA will take his pilots license away, and hopefully he does jail time for this stunt
RUclips should ban people who abuse the platform in this fashion. If he did this entire stunt for views, he and any ip address he ever owns should be banned from uploading. What's next? It kind of reminds me of Logan Paul's video, where he made a joke out of someone who committed suicide. He showed that without a shadow of doubt, he is not concerned with anyone's safety.
He has a lot more stubble on his face when he crashed into the brush than he has on his face when he's walking towards the crash. Definitely wasn't filmed in one day unless he brought his shaving kit to clean up for the next scene.
All the crash site video is staged. The front of the plane is. Missing, and he shows himself “fighting “ his way out of the brush, with his jacket gone, but the chute harness still on. Great analysis of the timeline.
The trajectory of the “falling” plane and the camera angles of its “demise” NEVER made sense to me! TX! I never thought he would include mooore evidence a drone! And now? accomplices! The 3 Stooges plot thickens....
3:58 the plane clearly is under control as it comes out of the right bank and straightens up. Thats really unlikely to happen if there is nobody in the plane as they are not stable on this axis.
Great analysis video. You raise a lot of valid points! I watch Air Crash Investigation pretty fervently and one thing that sticks out to me is the NTSB's level of scrutiny and attention to detail during investigations. I think it speaks to the arrogance and stupidity of Mr. Jacob to post video footage like his which is highly suspect at best, and comically fraudulent upon review. Glad to see the FAA took away his pilot’s license!
Well done Geoff. A few thing I noticed that others might want to pursue. 1 - I think the plane's wing tank may be filled with water. You can see spray on the last frame before it goes black. This would make sense because both wings were removed but the fuel line was not reconnected (right wing) and the pitot line appears not to be connected on the left wing. The wings would have been removed for transport from Lincoln. 2 - At ruclips.net/video/vbYszLNZxhM/видео.html you can see on his left thigh a device with a bright blue light. Any idea what it is? 3 - At the crash seen ruclips.net/video/vbYszLNZxhM/видео.html he says "thankyou God, thankyou universe" it is 2 takes cut together on the word "higher power". Obviously was not happy with take 1. 4 - At ruclips.net/video/vbYszLNZxhM/видео.html I believe that is also 2 takes where the exposure suddenly goes much darker you can see the edit because the framing is wider in the 2nd, darker shot. 5 - I wondered about the "farmer" as well. Judging by his stance and clothes and voice, it did not fit. I tried to see if I could match the farmer's voice with anyone on his other videos but ran out of time.
Thanks for the ideas. It does look like something explodes in the last frame before it goes dark. I have no idea what the blue light thing is, but noticed that previously if anyone else does, would be great to hear what you think it is. I think it is a single take, but he punches in the video. I suspect from seeing his instagram photo with orange bag in front of the plane that this was done to hide something in view in that sequence. The much darker change is likely due to changing the iso of the camera. That being said, faffing around with camera settings is not one somebody dying of thirst is probably going to do.
2 - I just watched this a few times. It sounds to me like there is a cut in the video, but not the audio. Right when he says "Thank you (clip) higher power". Either that (clip) is where he cut out a long pause between 'you' and 'higher' to make it *sound* right at the expense of a jump in the video, or...?
watch the full video, on his way to spread the ashes in the car, he talks about having poison oak, and cuts to a scene where he has a beard and rashes on arms and neck, then back to the car, no rash on neck, then, to spread ashes on paraglider, no rash on neck or on his arm when he lifts the baggy, and no beard
Absolutely correct. Why trim the nose down excesively to the point you have to struggle to keep the nose for best glide... why he didn't attempt to do emergency procedures if later on he went free falling loosing tons of altitude? then he went freefalling for such a long time, there was no way he would end up above the plane and see it crashing
If you are abandoning a plane, you would want to get it trimmed down as much as possible so it didn't glide about 15-20 miles. It's my understanding that the procedure is ignition off, fuel off, trim down, then bail out.
The orange bag was planted in the ravine that he slid down after he went to the crash site. It’s in the top left corner right after he slides down and right before a cut. Idk the time stamp. But I believe the green duffel bag he’s wearing later was in the orange bag. Also, check out the can directly behind him when he comes up from drinking water. At one point there’s a reflection off of it.
at 7:28 in this video, does that bush not look like it's painted yellow? You know, like a marker for where to come back later and say on film that you've spotted the plane?
The camera tailview looks off, since the fuselage's upper and lower edges appear to be always parallel. The frame must have looked narrower close to the tail area. A lens issue? Not sure...
@@1982MCI I would say DEFINITELY not claiming on insurance. Even if he was insured, removing the wreckage and disposing of it before anyone has a chance to examine it pretty much ruins any chance of a claim!
Minor correction but 23 seconds of freefall isn't 4600ft, this is only the case when your are at terminal velocity (5 seconds is close to 1000ft). That's not the case here because he's starting with minimal vertical velocity, instead it's probably 2500-3500 ft.
I think a fire on the ground from the plane is why he has a thing of water so it would explode and help output a fire and then he had a fire extinguisher on him as well so I think a big fire was a big concern because as we have seen people letting off fire crackers at party's that have caused huge fires and that brings more scrutiny from police and fire investigation.
I don't know if this has already been posted, but this is copied from Wikipedia: "In April 2022, the FAA determined that he had indeed abandoned the aircraft solely to film the crash. The FAA cited his opening of the cabin door prior to the purported engine failure; the lack of any attempt to execute an emergency landing, contact air traffic control, or restart the engine; and his personal unsupervised recovery of the onboard cameras and the aircraft wreckage, which he allegedly disposed of. The FAA revoked his private pilot certificate and ruled that he will not be permitted to apply for a new certificate for one year, stating that "your flight … [was] careless or reckless so as to endanger life or property of another" "
The orange thing on his shoulder looks like a spot tracker for remote gps tracking. That is where you wear them to have 'line of sight' with satalites. They are orange and black
some people actually saw the gun he has in his holster on his chest while walking out. also he complain about the danger of bears soon after.... very suspicious.
I made a path and then exported a kml file. This gives lat, long and elevation. I then put it into excel and did the math of steps from 10,000ft to 2,700 where the crash site was for the elevation and then put back into the KML file and opened it with Google earth. Total PITA, but it works.
A side note, I'm a skydiver. If the pilot told me the plane was crashing, I don't think my exit would be so textbook. Also, don't think the pilot would be like hey we're crashing. Make sure someone grabs the go pro. Last, can't think of why I would walk around with my harness. They aren't super comfortable
You left out that I f'd my family, friends, the memory of my baggie buddie, my sponsors, the people living around the area, and the legacy of whoever taught me how to crash. Trevor.
At 7:55, going frame by frame, something black is flying above and behind him. When it comes into frame, it's to the right of his head moving left. It makes a really quick 180 turn and flies back out of frame. It's all in that 1 second of video. I don't have the best monitor so I can't make out what it is exactly. A bug? Bird? Drone? A fast buzzard circling him? lol I can't tell. You might need to back the video up a second or two. It's hard to stop it in time to see it using the time stamp here.
After he pretended to drink from the stream, it looks like what might be a house on the hill behind him, maybe Google Earth can see if that's the case.
Excellent video and analysis....one note @9:18 when you are live and something is steep is it not way steeper than it looks---But video makes it look less steep. That is something said to critics of steep video after the fact--like when they are watching next to you and you are commenting. Blair Witch Project for 2022.
Finally someone mentiones the bulge under his jacket. (stomach area). -But I had not❗seen that there is liquid on his jacket when he's climbing out of the brush he landed in. Very cool ! Thanks for showing that. Cheers all ❗ K from 🇮🇸
The footage you attribute to a drone was shot by Trevor same day. Previous footage matches exactly. The footage was stabilized in post and cropped for that reason. I ran the angles of shadows and sun (34.3°) for dozens of frames and they all ran within
The time of day of all of the plane photos and bail out sequence is ~10am. This is also consistent with the crash report. I'm working on another video to do a time line. I still think is was almost certainly shot from a drone although can't be 100% positive. You can triangulate the camera location and have a pretty good idea of the altitude using the parallax of various features in the video. He would need to have opened his chute and immediate flown straight to that point which is into the mountains over the gnarly canyon just to the right of where he eventually lands. Even if he flew straights there his altitude would have been probably too low. The plane is between ~3500ft at the first point up the river valley and hits the ground at ~2500ft. To have the plane below him at ~4900-5300ft where the "drone" footage comes from is also about 4000-4500 horizontal feet from where he opened the chute. Using the best guestimate from others and the video, his flight altitude is 9000-10,000 ft. There are between 23-25 second of freefall (there is one cut that makes this precision impossible) that means has lost 3800-4200ft. Best case scenario is that he has ~6000ft altitude. So in losing ~1000ft of altitude he need to go 4000ft horizontally. Glide ratio of his rig is way below that and all of the flying he does is down and back up the river valley, he never flies into the mountains toward the plane. The only time we ever see him flying in the direction is immediately before he lands.
@@geoffharris1898 Everything is at 10am? I thought you said in your video that two parts of the parachute sequence were hours apart, based on shadows….
@@luomoalto I spent some time further analyzing the early footage at take off and lining up landmarks, it is a bit tricky as the Gopro on superview stretches the lateral portion of the images and gives a modest fisheye effect. Had to account for that. I now think he took off around 9:20-9:30, jumped out of the plane and the crash sequence of the plane are 10am +/- 15 min and then the landing in the bushes is still between 11:30 and noon. Have taken almost every shot with the sun in it and done triangulation to determine the time. Working on another video with the time line broadly for the whole sequence and for the bail to crash as there is no way he could have been aloft for long enough to figure out where the plane was going and then land near it.
Great video, and I think your speculations are spot on, but I find it hilarious that after knowing someone's guilt, everyone acts like EVRYTHING is some form of evidence. Like the go pro being on the plane? That's cool as fuck, even if he's not crashing the plane.
The collective data that RUclipsrs have gathered has made the NTSB and FAA jobs so easy, including any prosecuting attorney, simply by just watching the pertinent RUclips threads. Their job is done. The drone footage I hadn’t seen others point out yet from the ones I watched. Also on this thread, VLNOW points out this incident of Trevor’s is same date of D.B. Coopers, 11/24, 1971 vs 2021, exactly 50 years apart which may have him and his friends having a good laugh over that. Doubt that is a coincidence. If Trevor and his accomplishes don’t receive some serious repercussions over this, a lot in the aviation community are going to feel like justice wasn’t served. Surely, he should at least lose his pilots license, and never ever be allowed to fly again. But that’s just for starters.

The amount of flak this muppet is taking is beyond impressive. Well deserved.
Muppet 🤣. Which muppet is he though? 🤣
Damn you nailed it👍 I missed all those things you pointed out.
The faa will question the chopper pilot.
The trajectory of the “falling” plane and the camera angles of its “demise” NEVER made sense to me!
TX! I never thought he would include mooore evidence a drone! And now? accomplices!
The 3 Stooges plot thickens....
Facial hair in cockpit looks different compared to hike out?
Great video geoff. Some interesting things you pointed out thAt I haven't seen yet. Thank you.
BROTHER,,,, EXCELLENT, SHARP, CONCISE ANALYSIS. A MASTERCLASS.
THANK YOU.
LoL. I posted 2 videos (each camera) about the water in wing 2 days ago.
Funny he does not show the one in the back of the plane recording his instruments.... Not to mention the fuel line valve just hanging there
watch the full video, on his way to spread the ashes in the car, he talks about having poison oak, and cuts to a scene where he has a beard and rashes on arms and neck, then back to the car, no rash on neck, then, to spread ashes on paraglider, no rash on neck or on his arm when he lifts the baggy, and no beard
Jacob is the Jesse Smollett of aviation.
I think that orange bag is what all the camera equipment came in. I was thinking about the light as well
I'm sure there are easier ways to determine if the video was filmed over 2 days but maybe ENF signals could be used if he's close to the grid.
2:26 is it the water bottle inside the jacket?
My left ear loved this. Seriously, why is no one mentioning that the audio needs to be duplicated to the other channel!?
Absolutely correct. Why trim the nose down excesively to the point you have to struggle to keep the nose for best glide... why he didn't attempt to do emergency procedures if later on he went free falling loosing tons of altitude? then he went freefalling for such a long time, there was no way he would end up above the plane and see it crashing
If you are abandoning a plane, you would want to get it trimmed down as much as possible so it didn't glide about 15-20 miles. It's my understanding that the procedure is ignition off, fuel off, trim down, then bail out.
he needs to repost the video, directors cut, and when the farm boys get out of the car, they say, boy, you have a pretty mouth
LOL 🤣
“Squeal like a RUclips influencer!”
Great catch! I'm pretty sure he's toast at this point. Unless he and his rich family can pay off enough people.
At one point there’s a reflection off of it.
drinking scene jug is at 10:08 on this video, good find! you're the first person to see that I think.
@@kirkriley164 thanks! I wanted to make a video but haven’t been able to.
at 7:28 in this video, does that bush not look like it's painted yellow? You know, like a marker for where to come back later and say on film that you've spotted the plane?
Between this video and a few others, there has to be 30-40+ total inconsistencies. Just crazy.
The camera tailview looks off, since the fuselage's upper and lower edges appear to be always parallel. The frame must have looked narrower close to the tail area. A lens issue? Not sure...
Ha! Super clever, it must have cost a fortune to stage the whole thing though
Especially if you include the lawyers fees he’ll need to keep him out of jail!
@@john8451 and an airplane that your probly not claiming on insurance
@@1982MCI I would say DEFINITELY not claiming on insurance. Even if he was insured, removing the wreckage and disposing of it before anyone has a chance to examine it pretty much ruins any chance of a claim!
What’s that box at 7:19? Battery pack? Drone remote?
Looks kind of distinctive, someone might recognize it. Maybe add a zoomed in shot of it.
Would love to know what it is and the orange thing on his shoulder. Clearly not related to the parachute.

I think the orange could be the inside of his jacket, it's got orange hood strings on it so the inner lining is probably also orange.
I looked into this. It's a Nike Jacket. Pretty sure it isn't orange inside.
@@geoffharris1898 nice
Minor correction but 23 seconds of freefall isn't 4600ft, this is only the case when your are at terminal velocity (5 seconds is close to 1000ft). That's not the case here because he's starting with minimal vertical velocity, instead it's probably 2500-3500 ft.
could the orange thing on his shoulder be an autel drone?
It’s very on
That trip
I don’t know
I think a fire on the ground from the plane is why he has a thing of water so it would explode and help output a fire and then he had a fire extinguisher on him as well so I think a big fire was a big concern because as we have seen people letting off fire crackers at party's that have caused huge fires and that brings more scrutiny from police and fire investigation.
Some how
Great video. Well done !!
I don't know if this has already been posted, but this is copied from Wikipedia:
"In April 2022, the FAA determined that he had indeed abandoned the aircraft solely to film the crash. The FAA revoked his private pilot certificate and ruled that he will not be permitted to apply for a new certificate for one year, stating that "your flight … [was] careless or reckless so as to endanger life or property of another" "
The orange thing on his shoulder looks like a spot tracker for remote gps
tracking. That is where you wear them to have 'line of sight' with satalites. They are orange and black
He treks to the wreckage so that they have an exact GPS Coordinates to send the helecopter.
some people actually saw the gun he has in his holster on his chest while walking out. also he complain about the danger of bears soon after....
very suspicious.
very great and detailed video
I can't decide but a day later his Trevor wiskas would have grown 0.25mm longer??
What do you think ??
That other thing is the holster for the Glock that's visible in some of the shots.
how do you create 3D flight paths in google earth! awesome i've never used that
I made a path and then exported a kml file. This gives lat, long and elevation. I then put it into excel and did the math of steps from 10,000ft to 2,700 where the crash site was for the elevation and then put back into the KML file and opened it with Google earth. Total PITA, but it works.
Orange thing ? Spot GPS locator
The unidentified article on his chest just after he landed looks like a holster and slide from a handgun to me.
Drones do capture audio if they’re a skeleton drone with a 3rd party camera attached
Top work
You left out that I f'd my family, friends, the memory of my baggie buddie, my sponsors, the people living around the area, and the legacy of whoever taught me how to crash.
WELL SPOTTED - it looks like a drone. Pause the video then use < and > on the keyboard to step through
Very thorough
I really do wonder which survival movie he was thinking of when he put this all together. The overdramatization feels familiar...
Who else noticed the plane rolled to the left and pulled its self up from input.
I know about parachute
Safety orange is possibly so he can be located and or not shot by hunters
After he pretended to drink from the stream, it looks like what might be a house on the hill behind him, maybe Google Earth can see if that's the case.
Great analysis!
Even his elbow cut is already starting to scab over. God he's annoying.
Cheers all ❗

The water bottle shown in the "trek out" is the exact same brand of bottle he had sitting on the passenger's seat with him inside the plane.
The footage you attribute to a drone was shot by Trevor same day. Previous footage matches exactly. The footage was stabilized in post and cropped for that reason.
I ran the angles of shadows and sun (34.3°) for dozens of frames and they all ran within
If not a drone then how was it shot? Which previous footage are you referring to?
Good observations!

Great video, and I think your speculations are spot on, but I find it hilarious that after knowing someone's guilt, everyone acts like EVRYTHING is some form of evidence. Like the go pro being on the plane? That's cool as fuck, even if he's not crashing the plane.
Awesome job
Any update?
Good analysis.
