Years later, when I heard the X3 soundtrack, I noticed that the tracks sounded A LOT different than they did on the Game Boy Color. And now I'm finally realizing that it's because the Xtreme 2 tracks were based on THESE tracks, NOT the SNES versions!

    This is how I was first introduced to X3's OST, with the Anniversary Collection on the GC, and having been able to play nothing but the SNES version makes me realize how much better this version is. I'm a metal head, but goddamn does the SNES version drone on and on, but this right here is so dynamic, the only thing that could benefit this version is a little bit of the attack from the electric guitar on some parts, but not the god awful guitar from the SNES X3, but the good one from X1.

    • @Pan_Z
      @Pan_Z 3 года назад +14

      Problem with this version is it doesn't match the gritty tone of X3. Silver lining: it's not painful to listen to like the SNES version was sometimes. Better arrangements. More diverse and dynamic instrumentation

    • @GTA2SWcity
      @GTA2SWcity 3 года назад +17

      I'm going to say it depends on the track. Some of these are better, some of the SNES tracks are better. I say this being myself partial towards the capcom C4 soundfont for snes so I do concede some do drone on.
      I like the boss intro for both equally for differing reasons. I like this version because of scenes like, say Robocop busting down the giant door to that crack manufacturing building in the first movie. I like the snes version because not only is it a good intro but it could also fit for a critical/ berserker finish or playing chicken with two futuristic automobiles.

    • @rageinternet9391
      @rageinternet9391 5 лет назад +4

      Well, I'm not gonna lie in the ps1 most versions here are pretty good like blizzard buffalo and gravity beetle and toxic seahorse then there's a few that seem to quiet (crush crawfish), out of beat (intro stage), many instruments are not fitting to the stage (like doppler stage and toxic seahorse which i like in its own right) plus people don't like the x3 soundtrack anyway (except from me i love me some megaman x music metal or not) so i dont know where you're getting that "typical fans" from. Anyway I think that the best way to listen to the versions is them mashed up for that ps1 needs more bass and snes needs more stood out instruments.

    I can see why some people might dislike some of these songs and thus prefer the SNES version, but at the same time I REALLY don't like some of the SNES tracks compared to their PS1 versions. *cough Blizzard Buffalo cough*
    At any rate, I find the PS1 tracks passable at worst, not "total crap" like many people seem to insinuate. Put that together with the fact that we get cutscenes in this version, and overall I prefer the disc version of this game.

    eh still not the full ost if its missing the intro and ending music exclusive to the psx/ps1 and saturn versions dont know about the pc port cuz im pretty sure mega man x was never on pc to begin with i do know that mega man x1 had a dos prototype that can be played on an online emulator if u happened to find one with it which is kinda rare as well cuz not many emulators have the dos prototype only one i know that has the dos version of mega man x is retrogames which is probably outdated since there is no playable saturn/psx version of x3 on either version of the emulators and yes there is 2 different retrogames online emulators but yea there is 2 songs missing in the ost the intro and the ending songs which i believe the japanese psx or saturn version has a different intro song too and possibly an ending as well which the intro is actually pretty popular compared to the american version

    After listening to this album, I found that this OST suits more than the SNES ost. The SNES had more guitars instruments all over. With this, there's more variety. I'm not a music expert, but this is no contest.

    Megaman X legacy collection should've used this ost. I needed to say it.

    I've been looking into a way to replace the SNES music that came with the latest MMX collection on PC with this musical version, but according to a lot of people, it's impossible to do so.

    I love how the Mega Man X saga uses the SNES sound chip, but I didn't like it too much the Mega Man X3 ost, most of the tunes sounded like disorganized and unrecognizable noise, but this version makes those tunes make sense

    I have played both the SNES and the PSX versions of Mega Man X3, for some reason I find the music from the PSX far superior than the SNES version.

    Some songs i like more in SNES, some songs i more like in PS1. Some songs are just plain different. Personally, i heavily prefer Intro Stage here, but heavily prefer Doppler 1 from SNES.

    the inferior version of this OST
    edit: to be clear, the reason why I say this is inferior, when I was younger I got the X collection on gamecube, it had the normal SNES OST up until X3 when it had this, and it made no sense.

    Man this so differs from the SNES version, but it's still awesome.
    The Super NES is superior, but i give my props to Sega for giving this a shot. Sega sometimes is overlooked for some things, but not on this.
    Too bad they weren't picked for anymore X games other than this and X4, yet.....they left their mark.

    I mean this OST is pretty cool and epic but the lack of the chaotic vibe makes the soundtrack a bit weird. Like the intro stage theme here doesn't fit the enviroment at all, like if you're on a peacefull promenade and not on a serious mission. The rest of the tracks could've sounded better if there were other instruments used and not a friggin cheap yamaha-sounding org lmao
