I agree, traditional Chinese gardens encourage the visitor to explore. Traditional Japanese gardens encourage the visitor to sit down and meditate on a beautiful scene. Chinese gardens are more my cup of tea (and a great place to enjoy a cup of high quality tea).
I've enjoyed all your vlogs Nick. I hope to return to China again soon and do parts of your journey. My name is Nick too. Take care and keep up the exploring.
Nick...I loved the gardens. The designer's put a lot of thought into the gardens. I could see that they had to think about what they hoped to achieve. I wish people with children would teach their children to be quiet. Especially, in libraries and gardens❣️ I too, loved the last garden. I could feel the peacefulness. Thank you for sharing China with us. ❤️🙏❤️
@@nickinchina2552 You might need to make video about food tasting in a big city and title it "They lied to you about China". or "This is not BANNED!" to draw some attention. lol.
Thx for sharing. I felt a little flat after my short day visit (from Shanghai), failing into the trap of going to the not-so Humble Administrator's garden, but was put off by the teeming crowds, so a lot of time wasted. In all, I was disappointed as the whole place was just one tourist trap, even the canals were not all that well maintained. Shades of Italy's roman cities but at least their ancient monuments are better kept.
Yeh i avoided the famous gardens, i figured they wouldn't be what i was looking for. I think in China, you have to dig a little deeper for the cool historical sites
These famous southern China gardens are lucky survivors of centuries of turmoil. They share a common background: all were built by very rich traders or retired officials, who did not allow their wealth and fame to spoil their refined scholarly sensibilities. These gardens were designed by masters, tailored to the owner's stature, high-brow taste and need for privacy. They were compositions of all 5 elements, creating order out of chaos. These gardens invite contemplation of nature and reflection of life. Can't think of many parallels in gardens elsewhere in the world.
Thank You
Welcome as always!

Actually quite surprised there isnt a little place where you can buy a cup of tea in these gardens - that would be great!
In chinese sayings, Suzou is one of two Heavens on earth.
It is a very attractive city. Huge lakes, canals, white washed buildings...what is not to like!
Simply stunning, imagine living in a place like that, so incredible. thank you for your videos Nick.

Hi Nick! Glad you are enjoying the videos. Plenty of new places to travel in China - i will be on the road again in a couple of weeks - can't wait!
I loved our visit to Suzhou, and the gardens are beautiful. Thanks for showing some gardens we did not get a chance to see. Cheers from Australia.
That is my pleasure! I hope i can go back some day

Gardens in European stately homes are also kind of amazing, but very very different!
i wish i were a cat living in one of these gardens
Me too! What a life! hahah
It was not my cup of tea, but it was excellent. Might have to review my places to visit
Gardens are also not too high on my list of places to visit. But...i'm glad I did - These gardens in Suzhou are out of this world
我很喜欢苏州园林,但没去过69个。你准备都逛完?
我也特别喜欢苏州!
Why not bring your mum to visit then, Nick?
I will! The next time my parents come out here
