Your walking tours evoke a feeling of peace and wonder. I think this visit to Confucius' birthplace was special because Chinese society is really rooted in Confucian thought. I don't think the stuff about filial piety and ancestor worship really encapsulates Confucianism, however: ancestor worship was long established before Confucius was born, and filial piety may be understood as a sort of corollary to that. I think what encapsulates Confucianism is the emphasis on decency, humanity and compassion - ren - and creating the means to instill these virtues in the leaders and rulers so they serve as examples for all. This then begs the question: how do you create such leaders? Through study of the classics and self-reflection. This is the origin of the emphasis on learning and scholarship in Chinese society. In this way, governance would not require explicit laws and codes; Confucius felt that hard-and-fast rules would only cause people to evade them. "If the people are governed by rules, laws and codes, the people will obey, but they will have no sense of shame. But if the people are governed by the example of superior men filled with the spirit of humanity, they will by their own accord fall in line, and moreover become good." This then led to China's famed meritocracy and civil service examination system for selecting leaders, based on their mastery of the classics. Of course, one's knowledge of literature or songs does not make one a competent governor, but the key is that by becoming a learned, thoughtful man, one will have what it takes to rule over others with compassion and decency. And anyone could become such a person. For China, this started with Confucius.
Many people do not equate modern China with decency, humanity and compassion. Modern China encapsulates greed, avarice, deceipt, fraud, lies and rigid censorship and state control with Party Chairman Xi as leader for life like the emperors of old. Where is the meritocracy in that?

I have read, repeatedly the Analects, Dao and understand Bhuddist thought the three directions are separate but together are humanity. Peace.
There are hundreds of trees planted by his disciples that are over 2500 years old still alive inside the temple. This is probably the most concentration place of living old trees in the world.
Korean Confucian once criticized their people from learning how to write in Hangul. It is only suitable for the lowly class people and women. That is why all texts in Korea were officially written in Hanja(Chinese) until mid 20th century. North Korea started using Hangul after June 1949 South Korean primary schools ceased the teaching of Hanja in elementary schools in the 1970s, although they are still taught as part of the mandatory curriculum in grade 6 So Korea's written characters have a very short history of about 60 years history. Just look at most old photographs in the early 20th century Korea, you see all in Chinese characters(Hanja). Funny thing is that despite adopting Confucianism from China, the Koreans felt painfully playing second fiddle to most Chinese invented things. So began their crazy claims to all thing Chinese.
The Vietnamese are just like Koreans. Their claims are that the rice cultivation and the Chinese Lunar New Year were invented by the Vietnamese. Their claims are even crazier saying that south of Yangtze River is their ancestor’s land/ country called Wenlang or Van Lang in Vietnamese language. That is how they fabricated the nonsense story.
Chinese philosophy is often dismissed as just social ethics and political theory. It's true that Confucius was very grounded and more interested in man and society than metaphysics. But Chinese philosophy is not just Confucianism, but even among Confucian philosophers there was interest in meyaphysical musings. Daoism, of course, was steeped in metaphysics and asked as many questions as thise in the west.

When exiting from the mansion complex, turn left instead of right (that will lead you past the garden). You'll find a small museum housing Kong Clan's old stele collection, among which are some of the most ancient and significant pieces in the history of Chinese calligraphy.
I agree with you that Confucius probably didn't like the idea of his descendants living in the Kong Family Mansion (presumably government-sponsored) and collecting taxes from the locals. Fortunately, the Mansion seems to be not luxurious at all, and I felt a little relieved. At least the descendants of Confucius still to certain extent obey the teachings of their ancestor and live a fairly simple life.
Confucius had a huge impact on shaping Chinese culture. People call him the teacher of all generations, and he deeply influenced the thinking and lifestyle of people in this land. Maybe in the Western world, Qufu Confucius Temple is similar to the Parthenon or the Academy of Athens (although I don’t know much about it😂😂😂)
