Another wonderful episode! Every time NICK encounters a loud speaker in a park, it always attracts your complaints. I have heard it in your videos more than once. 😂😂😂😂Hahahaha, I agree with you on this point. There is a Daming Temple in Yangzhou, which was the lecture venue of the famous Tang Dynasty monk Jianzhen. He later went to Japan. Today, the Toshodaiji Temple in Nara, Japan has a lot of Tang Dynasty architectural elements. It's a pity that you missed it. I personally like the style of Tang Dynasty architecture very much.
Love it! It's my hometown! Once I was on the Five Pavilion Bridge, there was a guy blasting off with his music player. I just patted on his shoulder, and turned the volume nob to the minimum. But my old mom got upset and said I should mind my own business😁 It might take a couple generations.
Thanks for the great video again. About the only thing we know about Yangzhou is Yangzhou Fried Rice, so it's wonderful to be able to learn more about Yangzhou from your video. Thanks for sharing! 😄😃😀
About Puhaddin Garden, it his tomb also there? I think I visited the place and saw the tomb, which engendered an indescribable emotion--someone buried in a foreign country for several hundred years, forever.
His tomb is there, yes. The oldest known grave of a European person in China is also in YZ apparantly...an Italian lady...which makes it the oldest Catholic artifact in China
He thought of Yangzhou as his second home and wanted to die there. Maybe it’s not so sad. He preached Islam along the grand canal. There were five mosques in different cities under his name. When he knew his time was near, he asked to be back to yz. The burial ground is said to be the place of his boat arrival, he expired on the journey.
Hello my name is Matouš Střelec and I will be in Beijing from September to February as an exchange student at CAFA (central academy of fine arts). I started learning mandarin and I wantedtravel around china with trains.. for example to Chengde, Datong and so on.. could I contact you and ask you some tips about the traveling? How to buy the tickes for the railways and so on? I am a bit scared that I will be lost and I want to use the chance of being in china to travel a lot.
Just came back from Xi'An. No doubt China has many ancient architects and history, but it is hard for me to reckon with the bustling fun-seeking crowds and over commercialised old town 😢and with so many people dressing up in traditional clothes to post for social media. I long for that quietness where I can sit down or stroll down quietly to soak in the sense of history. I can accept crowds of people who want to visit well known places to enjoy for what it is but couldn't accept that fun seeking noisy vibe, no offense❤ In the end I felt quite tired and find my hotel room a more welcoming solace 😊
The main tourist spots im central Xi'an are sooo busy now. Best to get out of the city. To the south you have places like Xiangji Temple, Huayan Temple etc. Good old historical places
@nickinchina2552 Thanks for the recommendation. However I did enjoy strolling along the round-city wall garden park, which is situated directly below and along the city wall, with the moat running along it. I found a few locals strolling or exercising along the way, quite relaxing and calm with some scene of fighting ducks and dancing willows when the wind blew - that was a surprise find!
What I don't like about China is loud speaker, I agree with you. Otherwise, there are so many beautiful places.

Loud speakers are my sworn enemy hahah! Glad you enjoyed the video!

Maybe it’s not generational. The fact that this channel has low subscribers might indicate that people might like busy and noisy more.
I had a great time in your hometown! Really nice vibe in the old alleyways!
Yangzhou has a history more than 2000 years

It's a lovely place! But yeh, i think today when most people hear 'Yangzhou' the first thought is...'fried rice' haha
Fantastic walking with you in these places, and the 塔 count is growing!
This was a nice one. I wonder why it was decided to put a Tibetan style stupa in this part of China.
Over the next few videos the 塔 count will make a huge jump - be prepared!

@@nickinchina2552maybe not eating but just a picture of what it looks like.
揚州🥰at first sight. Also the setting of 紅樓夢 if I remember correctly.
Not sure, but likely. Lots of lovely old buildings to use for a set!

yang zhou fried rice!!!
You like tofu more than marshmallows? You won't get rich.
Interesting
扬州八怪, 扬州炒饭, 扬州瘦马, (and 扬州十日 , which is not pleasant).
The 扬州十日 is definitely not pleasant, but a very important part of Yangzhou history
