Fuji 23mm F2.... The Little Beast!!

- This video is about the 23mm F2 by Fujifilm. It's full frame equivalent is 35mm, which was my favorite lens when I was using Canon full frame. This 23mm is great for just about everything. I will be getting the 23mm f1.4 at some point because the focal length is great and the 1.4 aperture allows so much more blurry bokehlicious bokeh (blurry backgrounds) for portraits. Other than the bokeh difference, this 23mm F2 is crazy sharp and crazy awesome!! Great for street, landscapes and architecture; Great for video as well and on a gimbal. Don't take my word for it. Borrow or rent one and see for yourself. Than buy one;)

The f2 version of the 23mm is amazing when you know it's limits ! I like what you're doing with the channel sir ! Nice production value .
Nice review, Jason. I like your sense of humor & your personality. I have the 23mm, 35mm, & 50mm f2’s & enjoy using all of them. Small, light, & unobtrusive. Perfect for a day of shooting!😊
Don’t stop making videos bro. One of my favorite channels.
Finally coming in the mail. I plan on blowing people's minds with it.
Lens hood and cap...
When transporting camera/lens combo, remove the hood, install the cap directly on the lens, and then reinstall the hood. This prevents the cap from accidentally falling off when one of the squeeze tabs inadvertently hit something while carrying camera.
This happened all the time with me until I learned to put the cap under the hood during transport.
Great!!
I feel like this focal length is more about environmental portraiture which means you kind of don't mind about less bokeh. Need the bokeh then you grab the 35 f/1.4 and take a step or two back. I guess I am leaning toward this lens because of the size (meaning will want to take it out more) and the WR.
I personnaly don't like bokeh
great video review and shots,, very curious about the 23 f2 as a travel lens as a cheaper option to the 100v. I own a fuji xt2 and the 23 1.4 I just want something more compact and to carry just one lens, curious at the 1:34 time mark in the video the photo with both friends, was that shot at f2? I hear wide open up close the image can get soft on this lens.
Thank you! Nice info and you made me laugh :D
Great little lens. The good thing is WR, weathersealing. For my taste, it does have too much vignette@F2..love the 23/1.4 R Fujinon, it's really a true character lens, love it to bits.
Hey man what you think bout the xf27? I have the xs20 and a 16mm 2.8 and that is great for talking head but not what I am wanting in street. I was debating between xf23 2, xf35 2, or xf27 2.8.
My 16 is not great for night shots in when there is little light in the country side of texas. Only reason why I am not certain on the 2.8 fstop. I know this was length but trying to give context.
Whats your thoughts?
Hey! what rayban eyes glasees reference do you use?
👍
Know i want one for my XT1
There is a 1.4 viltrox lens for fuji check it
I would prefer the 23mm f2 rather than 23mm 1.4 purely on financial grounds.
23mm in X100 V is much better than this 23mm. I wonder why
I like this lens but the close focus performance is the worst I've ever seen on any first party prime since the 70's and I find it confusing you actually like it for that
It's one of the best Fuji lenses and it's cheap.
Too bad this lens is very soft at close focusing distance. The X100V has a newly designed 23mmf/2 and it solved that issue.
The 23 1.4 blows all other out of water. Haven’t checked the one on V though.
It is a little soft. It’s dreamy looking when close. I’d use the 16 1.4 for more close shots with a shallow depth of field. I love that lens!!:)
@@SiddhantParkar I actually picked up the 23 1.4 by Viltrox. It is amazing, but the purple fringing when backlit with bright sun is pretty back. I have to get me the Fuji version.....but......$899:(
Haha! Maybe one day!
@@jasonberkmanphotography8672 the Fuji 23 1.4 is like a dream. I got it quite cheap. I wonder how the Tokina is going to turn out to be
Yeah, Fuji is not really for close distance shooting in general.
You said if you love portraits, go for 23mm f1.4 but for portraits face looks better at 35mm length than 23. Subtle difference but 35 is ideal. No slightest of unnatural angle. 35mm 1.4 is better for that.
23mm lens *is* 35mm on fujifilm due to crop factor.
@@ZeroDean Hmm. I just said that because 23 mm is wider to 35 mm and can have little more subtle distortion/deformation of face... i guess
@@twocupsstudio Depends. Lens distortion is kind of a myth. See ruclips.net/video/kpRqgPDdCVc/видео.html
You CAN take your hat off.
You like real bokeh, then just try the sigma 105 f1.4 for full frame cameras….that is bokeh.
Only slightly annoying. Sorry....
