I just want to let you know how much I appreciate you and all the wonderful time spent with you. Being retired is not what I thought it would be. It is lonely. Your beautiful smiling face and cooking fun is such a happy time. I really appreciate you! 💕
Hi Kathy - I'm sad to hear that you're lonely. I hope you get a chance to meet some great people. Volunteering is one easy way, and so rewarding. Enjoy your day!
Kathy, I feel the same about retirement, I am lonely and it makes me sad. When I mention that to son he tells me to check into assisted living. I think I will look for something part time so wish me luck I am 73. I really enjoy this young woman's vlog though makes me want to cook.😊
I agree with you❤. I am 52 and retired due to disability, have Muktiple Sclerosis and severe arthritis. It is so lonely as my kids are grown as well, but still live at home. Becky I love seeing g your upload when I turn on my TV. It's like having a best friend. My family makes fun of me because I talk about my friend Becky all the time!!! 😂
Would agree with you retirement is very lonesome so I got a little job doing shopping for a couple of elderly people it is so great MARGARET LYNCH SOUTHERN IRELAND
Hi Becky! Just a little information on kombucha starter - what you're referring to as the SCOBY is actually the pellicle (which is a byproduct from the fermentation process - it's mostly made of cellulose). The pellicle is not needed to brew kombucha. The SCOBY is the starter tea. You can throw away/compost pellicles and get great fermentation by just using starter tea from the previous batch. I say all this to prevent new brewers from thinking they need a pellicle when in reality, they need starter tea :) Thanks for all of your amazing content, you are such a wonderful resource for everyone on RUclips.
So, Shannon, you’re saying that the SCOBY isn’t what is necessary for starting your own kombucha but the actual kombucha? I had someone offer me a SCOBY to start my own but when I asked if she used pineapple juice because it makes me anaphylactic she said she did. So I didn’t take the SCOBY. I’d love it if all I need is some kombucha. That’s so much easier to obtain!
Thank you for inviting us in. I have realized that I've become emotionally invested in you in a maternal way. Your successes and growth as a gardener warms my heart. You seem like such a sweet soul. I know your mom is so proud. Best of luck with all your endeavors! You make it look easy, like you've been doing it all for decades. ❤
Watching you is the highlight of my day! I have learned so much from you and I am 82 yrs old! I have tried so many new things because of you! I raise my own veggies and can and dehydrate all I can! Thank you for being there for us!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Becky i want to thank you and your mom for upgrading me in the kitchen. Like most i was stuck doing the same bland recipes ( pasted down) and everyone in my family does them. Just by watching a few of your videos and stepping out of my comfort zone i have introduced new flavors and new favorites.. including the berry cake. Just know you are making a huge difference with your channel. You have even inspired me to start a garden and build my own grocery store and freezer prep. Things my grandma did before she passed but i didn't keep up on..but i see why it was important.
@@leighdegenhardt485 I can relate to that as well. But I am willing to watch Becky and learn now and apply what I'm learning in my life now to be able to pass that wisdom and knowledge on. Maybe you can too.
I am passing as much of my knowledge as I can to my niece. She is 35 and at 72 I know I may not have much time left to do so. I bought her a good recipe book that has loose leaf fillers in it and gave her all my favorite recipes. I will continue sending her more recipes and I have given her Becky's info and that if Jen Chapin, Frugal Fit Mom's, Roots and Refuge Farm. She recently lost her husband and right now sees no point but I'm hoping the recipes will somehow be a comfort to her one day.
I'm so sorry for her loss, sending my prayers and condolences. 72 is young what you mean...you have time as long as you have the will....and yes pass it all on....to everybody. Please let her know that she is loved and needed and she has purpose.
😂😂 was thinking the same. Was thinking they are going to come visit to see how the garden turns out hoping Becky will send them home with goodies! You are so sweet Becky
You don't have to buy filtered water, if you have chlorine in your tap water. Just let the water sit in the fridge for 24 hours. If you need it faster, just leave it at room temperature overnight. The warmer the environment, the faster the chlorine will evaporate. I have used this method on several fermentation projects and it works perfectly. ❤️
@ That is a great option too! My sister in law prefers filtering her water with a sink filter and I know she loves it. I like evaporate because I haven't had to buy anything specialized to do it. I in general don't like to have too many single job tools in my kitchen- but having a water filter pitcher would definitely be time saving.
Год назад+10
@@anastasiaharris9125 I keep my filter pitcher in the fridge so I always have clean cold water for cooking, drink mixes (I like making my own lemonade, tea, etc.), or whatever I need clean drinking water for. I rent, so there's no way to install a more permanent system here. 🙂
False... in most cases it's chloramine...not chlorine( smells similar) it will never evaporate out... butn1/4 tsp of vitamin c powder will break the chemical bonds and allow it to break down...
For the crockpot, my fav is Rouladen! It’s a German meat dish. Long thin strips of beef, rolled up with bacon, mustard and pickles. The crockpot moisture that you mentioned makes a delicious gravy. Serve with some potatoes and a cabbage salad. Hmmm mmmm good 😍😍
Crock pot stuffed peppers Crockpot stuffed bell peppers stuffed with Mexican style seasoned ground beef, rice, black beans and queso blanco, then cooked low and slow in a slow cooker. Super easy! Ingredients: • 10 colorful bell peppers • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 1 jalapeno pepper chopped • 1 small white onion chopped • 2 cloves garlic chopped • 1 pound ground beef • 2 cups cooked white rice • 15- ounce can black beans • 15- ounce can crushed tomatoes • 1 cup frozen corn • 1 cup shredded queso blanco or Monterrey Jack cheese • 3 tablespoons favorite taco seasoning • Salt and Pepper to taste FOR TOPPING • Chopped cilantro • Diced avocado • Mexican crema or sour cream • Favorite hot sauce for serving Directions: • Slice the tops from the bell peppers and core out the insides. Set them into a crock pot or slow cooker. You may need 2 slow cookers. • Heat the oil in a small pan to medium heat and add the onion and jalapeno pepper. Cook about 5 minutes to soften. • Add the garlic and cook another minute, stirring. • Add the ground beef and cook about 5 minutes to brown it. You don’t need to cook it all the way through, as it will finish in the crock pot. • Add the mixture to a large bowl and cool. • To the bowl, add the rice, black beans, crushed tomatoes, corn, shredded cheese and taco seasoning. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix it together with a wooden spoon. • Spoon the stuffing into each bell pepper. • Add about a half inch of water to the bottom of the crock pot or slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours on low, or 2-3 hours on high, or until everything is cooked through and the peppers have softened to your preference. • Serve with cilantro and crema over the top, and your favorite hot sauce. Enjoy!
Becky, for chives, I find that using scissors vs. a knife provides a more consistent cut on them. I use scissors in a LOT of different scenarios but chives is a 100% always choice. Thanks for sharing your day with us.

One of my favorite crock pot recopies is just a pork roast with a little bit of water or apple juice and then some taco seasoning. Once it is cooked (about 8 hours on low), you can shred the meat for tacos or quesadillas or Mexican pizzas or whatever. So good. It is great since you have the meat ready to eat for the next few days.
I have made meatloafs in my crockpot in the warm and hot months when the menfolk were begging for meatloaf and I didn't want to heat up the house. It worked perfectly! They loved it. I just used a spray oil and let it get really hot before I placed it in there. Cooked it for about 4 hours, topped it with catsup and worchesterchire sauce and mustard mix. Sometimes, if I have it, I top it also with crumbled bacon.
One of my favorite crock pot recipes is Mongolian beef! You need: 1lb1/2 flank or skirt steak 1/4 cornstarch 2tbls olive oil 2-3 garlic cloves minced 1/2 cup soy sauce 1 cup water 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 cup of grated carrots. Green onions for garnish if you have it. Cut the beef thinly against the grain and coat with the corn starch. Set aside Mix remaining ingredients in crock pot and then add the beef making sure that it's coated in the sauce. Cook on low ~4 hours. I typically eat it over rice. Sometimes I'll also add broccoli, cauliflower, or sweet bell peppers in slices in the last half hour of cooking to get soft and yummy in the sauce as well. Hope you enjoy!
I appreciate your channel! Here's a favorite of mine... Beef stew Combine in crock pot: 2lb beef roast cubed 2 cups sliced carrots 2 cups diced potatoes 1 medium onion sliced Sprinkle with: 2 teaspoons quick cooking tapioca Salt Pepper Pour over: 8oz tomato sauce 1 cup water Cover cook on low 8 hours. One hour before cooking time ends add: 1-1/2 cups frozen peas
Cut the edges of the pastry after the first lamination. The reason it doesn’t puff is that the butter layer does not go all the way to the edges at first, sometimes you can actually feel where the butter stops. You can incorporate the cut piece of dough into the center of the dough during the next fold.
I make kombucha. I use both green tea and black tea. I brew mine on the kitchen counter and leave it on the counter for another 2 or 3 days for the second ferment. I love to flavour mine in the second ferment with elderberry or raspberry. I share with a friend and she adds ginger to the second ferment. Love your permanent brewing pot!
OMG, every time I watch you cook or bake I learn one or more tips that make so much sense! Love how you explain. Such a great teacher! I do remember it when I see you do it! Merci !!! And then of course, I am dreaming of your homestead! It's going to be amazing! So beautiful!
Crock pot recipes I use 1) Pork ribs, add a little water, couple bay leaves, sliced onion and pour bbq sauce on them. Let it go for several hours, I usually do 5-8 on low and then you can broil the ribs a few min at the end for crisp top with more sauce. They fall off the bone, just excellent every time. 2) Swiss steak. Sear round steaks seasoned with salt and pepper, transfer to crock and add in 2 cans diced tomatoes, 3-4 diced garlic cloves, sliced onion and again cook for 5+ hours…serve over rice or potatoes. Absolute go to recipes for me. Easy and delicious EVERY.TIME. Thanks for your inspiration, love watching!
I think you are awesome! You always inspire me. I first found you because i wanted to make homemade pasta and you came up in my search saying I am making pasta for a year! I have been hooked ever since!
Becky, will you make a video showing how you prep them reheat dinner when you prep it early? Or how you reheat leftovers? I love this idea of making dinner earlier in the day so you have that family time, but I always feel like the food is best straight out of the oven.
Becky a lot of times I make dinner ahead on the stove but keep it warm in the Crock Pot so I don’t have to worry about dinner at the end of the day. I will make soups and spaghetti sauce things like that then I just keep the CP on warm. It works great.
Honestly, I have switched over to the instant pot now. It cooks so much faster than the crock pot. Even my black eyed peas or carne guisada ( Mexican beef stew) get made in the instant pot now.
Agreed. Every slow cooker recipe can be converted to the Instant Pot and uses 1/10th of the time. I previously used a slow cooker all the time but since buying my Instant Pot, I don't use the slow cooker except for two things... 1) Corned beef was fantastic. The slow gentle heat really kept it tender. 2) Party warmer. Great for keeping chili or nacho cheese warm at a party. ... That's it. Otherwise the Instant Pot always wins. It's quicker and has a better result.
I have to admit I went from the slow cooker to the instant pot. I used the instant pot for 5 years. I'm now using my slow cooker again. The flavors are honestly better in the slow cooker, just me and my family's opinion. I still use the instant pot for certain things though.
I find that my food takes 4 times the amount of flavour to cook in the insta pot vs slow cooker. (Apart from salt!) I mean herbs or garlic and spices. Any tips on better flavour? everything tastes the same or very similar but totally different recipes 😢
So happy you are doing kombucha again Becky! I just restarted mine today. I fed the scoby all winter and today I pulled out five beautiful scobies!!! Good luck on yours!
I planted several, annuals in flower planters this past week, nasturtium first time. Also seedling from a local homestead planted 5 beef steak 🍅4 Rio Grande Roma,2 Cherry 🍅3Roma in my balcony garden yesterday. Excited to see how my soil is, been composting in galvanized tub on my balcony.
Wrap a few washed whole potatoes in tin foil, place on the bottom of the crockpot. Place protein of choice seasoned to your liking and there you have “baked potatoes” and tender meat for your meal. Corn on the cob or sweet potatoes can be used in place of the potatoes. This was a game changer for me when I found it. Also crockpot liners (like a boil in bag) changed the dishwashing game 🎉 I was celebrating when a coworker of my husbands told me about them
Great tip regarding pastry at bottom of bowl. I’ve always done the opposite.(83 years old). You wonderful young RUclipsrs , are the best. There is nothing like hand made pie crust.❤ I used a hand towel to get the pastry in a ball. Don’t cook anymore except healthy vegetables, under cooked and salmon, rare. My tummy loves me.😂
Becky here in Australia we love lamb shanks in the slow cooker. 6 hours on low. Base of celery onion and carrots, can of diced tomato, 2 table spoon tomato paste. Sun dried tomatoes, olives 1/2 water and beef stock cube or stock/ or red wine, mushroom., garlic basil and parsley and S & P. I put cut potatoes in but others serve with mashed potato and green beans. So yummy. Meat falls off the bone.
When I make Danishes I blind bake them to just near done, I then add my topping that way the pastry is fully baked and the toppings do not dry out or burn.
@@cynthiacook7768 once it has ice water in it. It becomes perfectly balanced and you don’t need a lot of pressure to flatten the dough. Make sure yours has the rubber gaskets on it. If not, you can find something that will work at a hardware store.
I make shredded chicken in the crockpot. Add chicken breasts, spices of your choice, topped with stir fry vegetables and let it go. 4 on high, about 8 on low. Shred the chicken stir back in the sauce it created. We put it in wraps. It was delicious. I also saw a tip if you don't want your food to be "soggy" and brown a bit, you must put papertowels between the crockpot and the lid to absorb the steam forming. Hope you find your crockpot signature dish as well😊
My favorite crockpot recipe is French dip sandwich, put a frozen 3lb chuck roast in with 1/2 cup soy sauce 2cups water 1tsp rosemary thyme and garlic powder and 1bay leaf. Shred the meat serve on toasted ciabatta rolls with a slice of cheese. Leftovers meat can be used to tacos or quesadillas. This is soooo Good!
I started making Kombucha 6 months ago and love it! After paying over $5 for a bottle at the airport I started researching it. I would love to see how you make it in the crock in another episode....that looks very interesting!
When I was younger my local grocery store used to bake cream cheese inside a croissant... it was AMAZING! The natural sweetness of the cheese comes out and it's slightly tart, but sweet but not too sweet - just perfect.
I love how it feels like we are actually in ur kitchen with you, like when you took a quiet moment to eat lunch and you said it was nice to have us there as company. Keep being you, bye friend x
4:52 if you gently scatter butter onto piece of wax paper, sprinkle with flour, and then cover with an inverted baking sheet you’ve had in the freezer it’s even easier to make
Beef stroganoff is delicious in a crockpot, add sour cream at the last 10 minutes. Beef stew is great in a crockpot, also Bavarian meatballs and Swedish meatballs or really any meatballs. Also ribs are great in a crockpot, cook them 8 hours on low in just a dry rub with a little bit of bbq sauce. Finish in the broiler for 5-7 min to get a caramelized top. My favorite go to is just chicken breasts with some broth and a can of cream of mushroom and some dry ranch seasoning. That’s so simple and makes a delicious gravy, would also work with pork or beef 😊 Happy cooking!
I make slow cooker beef and pork roasts all pretty much the exact same way and it turns out perfect and super flavorful every time. - I never sear the outside of my roasts, I just don’t want to take the time or make the mess. I don’t find it makes a difference. - I line my slow cooker crock in onion slices to a create a barrier between the meat and the ceramic. - I create a paste of spices, herbs, salt and pepper, mustard and Worcestershire sauce and rub it all over the meat before putting it in the crock. You can use whatever seasonings you like, but go pretty heavy on the salt to flavor the whole roast. My go-to blend is salt, pepper, granulated garlic, onion powder, and thyme, mixed with Worcestershire and any type of mustard. You can add brown sugar and liquid smoke for a bbq flavor. Just be sure to throughly coat the meat and get it in all the nooks and crannies. - I never add liquid to the crock- the onions and the meat let off plenty of juices as it cooks, you’ll be surprised how much is in there when the roast is done! - I like to turn the cooker on high for the first couple hours to get it up to temperature faster, then low for the last 5-6 hours. For a big roast it will save you lots of cooking time. - when the roast is done, the left over liquid is super concentrated. I like to strain it and then dilute it to taste before making gravy or pouring it over the meat. By changing up the seasoning paste I can use this exact same method for sooooo many different cuts of meat. I hope you try this technique, you’ll love it!!
One of my favorite crock pot recipes is honey garlic chicken (you can you any cut of the chicken too)! It was a recipe I found on Pinterest and is great when I need a quick and easy meal! I can't wait to make those cream cheese Danish's! thanks for sharing this part of your life with us and taking us along!
My favorite crockpot recipe is a browned beef roast with a stick of real butter set on top, a packet of ranch dressing, packet of au jus, and about 5 peppercinis. On low about 8 hrs. Makes just enough juice to drizzle on the meat.
Been a while since I’ve watch a video but good to see you’re doing well Becky!!! Praying for blessings on you, your husband and your little precious baby boy!!
I have sooooo many crockpot recipes I use constantly. I have a print out on my fridge so I can quickly glance at the “recipe” (I measure nothing lol). If you have something specific you don’t want watery in the crockpot you can put paper towels or a rag pinned under the lid to trap the condensation.
Hey Becky! I am a HUGE fan of my slow cooker! Any soup recipe I have ever tried has turned out wonderful in there or an instant pot, but slow cooker is better for more tender meat and the flavors marrying a bit more thoroughly. We love soups in my house, and I have dozens of different types of soup recipes, and all turn out perfect with no baby sitting it all day. Roasts and stews turn out wonderful in there also. Another family favorite is chicken pot pie in the slow cooker, you essentially make the filling in the slow cooker, and for the last bit, break up biscuit pieces over the top and let it cook until they are cooked through and serve. Great for when you want pot pie but don't want to make pot pie. Lasagna in the slow cooker also turns out great! You put in all the stuff you normally would with a good layer of olive oil and sauce at the bottom, and if it doesn't turn out in perfect lasagna layers no one can really tell because it is coming out of a slow cooker! Many casserole recipes can work in the slow cooker if you cook low and slow too. Ribs turn out so tender in the slow cooker!! If you have a larger slow cooker, they are also great for making up big batches of things and freezing half so you have more for later. Since you are more of an audio or video person rather than reading, just search slow cooker recipes on youtube and hundreds of options will pop up. Most post their recipe along with the video too so you can print it out. With your busy summer of gardening ahead with a baby, a slow cooker is a great way to have a worry free dinner ready with the option to make extra for leftovers or freezer meals and it really doesn't heat up your house! As always love your videos!
Hi Becky, here's a real easy crockpot meal sweat and sour with your choice of meat. All you need is a large bottle or two small bottles of Russian dressing one jar of apricot preserves a packet of Lipton onion soup to taste mix well and add meat of your choice. Cook on low for about 6 hours or on high for 3 hours or until meat is tender. Serve with rice.
I make a chuck roast in my crock pot ,pat it dry salt and pepper ,sprinkle with season salt ,garlic powder, slice a small onion throw on top .half way through I put in a beef bouillon cube to the juices .my husband and I love it .when it's done I put juices in a pan take a little hot water and a tea spoon of flour and make a gravy . Left overs are delicious .I make an open faced sandwich the next day or you can make taco or faitia
Great vlog & how to’s! I do the same with my kombucha so I don’t have to wait until the tea cools! If you’re making other ferments, such as milk kefir, keep them quite aways apart so the ferments don’t mix through the air. Those Danishes look so yummy! Blessings to all🤗💜🇨🇦
We pushed all weekend to get our deer fence up for our garden to get things planted. I already have blooms on our tomatoes in pots. We so need to get them planted this week. We moved our chickens out to their new coop today and hope to finish the deer fence tonight as that is our 2ndary fence other than the predator fence around their coop since our camera has picked up fox, coyote and skunk passing thru our property. Excited to try this rough pastry recipe. Love how comfortable you are with dough any kind of dough. I find it relaxing to take a break and watching your videos! My pioneer woman crock pot lid has a steam hole in it to help reduce the watery effect of slow cooking. At first I questioned the hole but find it in fact helps reduce the water effect.
My crockpot. I’m mainly using it to cook bigger batches of chicken down overnight and deboning it the next morning. Not only do I have shredded chicken for the freezer/freeze dryer I have a thick rich bone broth that I can strain and do the same with. I have fibromyalgia and having this cook overnight, then letting it cool, then shredding then packaging or freeze drying. It’s all in steps which makes it easier for me to get done in two days instead of pushing my pain limits. Thanks for the kombucha videos, I’m going now to check out the one suggested. Many blessings to you and yours.
Beans..basically chili. Overnight soak 1/2 bag red beans, rinse and place beans in crockpot. Brown beaf, pork, turkey, whatever you like with onion and garlic. Good amount of Spices that you like. Can diced tomatoes. Broth, you choose. Cook on low 6 hours, check for doneness. Cornbread on the side, top with bacon and sour cream, chives. if you choose. delicious!
I had leftover mashed potatoes and they were a bit chunky. Used those to make loaded potato soup this weekend. So yummy and like you said, so quick and easy. The blueberry danish looks amazing. And I have almost 4 gallons of blueberries in the freezer from last summer. Need to try my hand at blueberry jam. Thanks for the inspiration.
12:40 pm. I've been making your sour cream banana bread and my husband and I are loving it. I have some packages of shredded zucchini in my freezer and thought it would be great in that recipe, just substitute the zucchini for the bananas, or anything else, the sky's the limit!!
We as a family go to my parents every Sunday for dinner after church. Most of the time, it's from a crockpot. Taco meat, spaghetti sauce, soup, roast, you name it. Sometimes it's cooked and then transferred to the crockpot just for convenience.
A crockpot hack....cover the top of your crockpot with a layer or 2 of paper towels then put the lid on. The condensation goes to the paper towels an do not back down in to pot. Only use the in recipes that you don't want to get watered down. Meat needs the additional water.
For crockpot recipes. I just saw someone online mentioned putting a towel in between the lid and the crockpot. The moisture will get absorbed. I haven't tried it, but sounds like an ok idea.
Great recipe for the crock pot (slow cooker here in the uk) is cola ham. I use a gammon ham joint but normal ham is fine, slow cook it in 2 litres of full fat coke for 6 hours on low with whole spices (e.g, cinnamon, cloves, cardamon, bay leaves) and a chopped onion (with the skin). Can eat it straight from cooking (once cooled) or i finish in the oven by taking of some of the fat layer and brushing honey and mustard over it. Its a really good addition to a buffet or for a main meat dish for a meal. The usually salty meat has a lovely sweet flavour from the coke and is lovely and tender.
A tip for the crockpot is put a towel over the top before you put the lid on so all the condensation doesn’t fall back into your meal and it won’t be so watery.
I have a great crock pot recipe for pork chops and sauerkraut. It has red potatoes, onions and apples. It’s basically a whole dinner in a pot and all we add is a nice green salad. Been making this for years.
@@laurenmusial3750 recipe you requested: Pork and Sauerkraut 4 large red potatoes about 1 1/2 lbs cut in half Sauerkraut (32 oz) drained 1 large onion chunked 1 large Granny Smith apple pealed and cored, coarsely chopped 2 tbsp brown sugar 1 tsp caraway seeds 1 tsp garlic minced 1/2 tsp pepper One 2 1/2 pond boneless pork loin Place potatoes in bottom of crock pot. Mix all other ingredients except pork. Put half on potatoes. Add pork, top with remaining sauerkraut mixture. Cover and cook on high for 8 hours or until pork is tender. This recipe is very forgiving and you can adjust to your taste. We like having extra apples. Enjoy!
Scalloped potatoes adjust how much you need. 6 sliced potatoes, 2 sliced turnips, 2 medium yellow onions, 1lb turkey ham (or plain ham), 2 cans of cream soup, 1/2 cup of whole milk, Alternating layers, bottom w/ potatoes & top w/potatoes & ham. Pour soup & milk over top. Cook on medium until potatoes are tender or about 4 hours.
Crockpot Pulled Pork (customizable flavor profile, super flexible main protein; great for sandwiches, to top baked potatoes/sweet potatoes, nachos, tacos, rice, pasta, just to name a few!): 3 lb boneless pork butt (shoulder), 2 TBSP desired seasoning blend (herb+garlic+salt is my go-to), 1/2 cup desired sauce (BBQ, enchilada, or teriyaki work great to name a few, but options are endless), 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup chicken broth. First rub pork with seasoning blend and place in cooker. Then mix sauce with vinegar and broth, then pour over pork. Cover and cook low 8-10 hours. Shred then mix with juices, and voila! I serve with a carb and a veggie. This makes a bit of leftovers at my house, so I freeze a portion for later use and refrigerate the rest for lunch the next day. We love this about once a month to break up the chicken-beef-chicken-beef rut we often find ourselves stuck in ;)

Hi Becky, I would enjoy watching a vid of your inventory organization from the computer. If I remember correctly you do a spreadsheet? I would like to see how you go through your spreadsheet :)
YuuuuuM! My nana made a classic French butter puff pastry and I have never tasted anything as divine as it. Laminating took her hours. This paid off with layers upon layers. Her recipe was the FULL pastry recipe, e.g. equal parts flour and butter. I have never made it, my mum has but my nana's has left an imprint. I would bake little miniature squares to fill with her home made jam and cream. Yumma! I think I will give it a try. P.S you could see the cold butter layers. That's what I liked about your pie crust recipe.
The soup looks delish especially since we r getting snow! It's almost May 1st ugh. I made instant soup in jars , made that in small batches so just enough soup for a day or two instead of tons!!
I think you can store the scoby at room temp as long as you feed it w fresh sweet tea every few weeks - if you didn't do that, that could be why it died and then molded, not necessarily the temp in your pantry. You can also store a scoby in the fridge and it won't run out of fuel as fast. This reminded me that I have mine in the fridge & I really need to check on it! Maybe I'll get a new batch going too if I didn't kill mine 😊 The soup & danishes look amazing! Happy cooking!
I make A LOT of crock pot meals and while I don't have a single recipe to share, I do have a couple of general hints. #1-any time you are cooking meat with any connective tissue or bones, ALWAYS add a tablespoon or so of either ACV or lemon juice. It's not enough to taste, but the difference it makes in the texture of your broth (umami) is unrivaled. #2-be careful not to overcook meat (especially poultry) as it will get dry & mealy and gross. #3-make sure you are choosing cuts of meat that are appropriate for braising-those that need long slow cooks. No need to waste higher cost cuts when usually the cheaper cuts will actually be better anyway. #4-don't skip on the seasoning/flavorings-since you're using a water filled cooking method, it's easy to end up with your seasoning getting watered down and then you can't taste anything but bland boring meat.
I would love to see a video on your favorites new and old especially the surprises along the way that knocked your socks off. I love that you “cook” and not just put in a bag of this or a box of that and call it homemade.
place a kitchen towel over the top of your crock and let it hang over the sides then place your lid on top to keep your food from being soggy. but make sure you put enough liquid in so it doesnt burn. my favorite recipe is cube steak with gravy. 1 family pack of cube steak, 1 pkt of onion soup mix, a jar of brown beef gravy, sliced mushrooms (optional), flour, salt and pepper and garlic powder to taste. little bit of oil. put flour in dish, add salt, pepper and garlic and combine. dredge steak in flour and add to preheated pan on stove with oil to just brown the meat on both sides. your not wanting to cook it through, your just basically searing it with the flour mixture on it. Once seared, add it to your crock. repeat till all your meat is dredged, seared and in crock, add the rest of your ingredients to the pot and cook 4 hr on high. eat with mashed potatoes and a veggie. I also make yeast rolls with this, I put butter and sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, a tad of sea salt and parsley on top before baking.
Your expression and your eyes when something is SO GOOD is priceless. Love and need to try at making puff pastry. You are so passionate about everything you do it shows. Every day I check and look forward to your vlogs. You are the very best, and may I say funny too. 😂 a BIG THANK YOU.
15:29 I so share your frustration when trying to find a bottle of plain kombucha. I finally said what the heck - I’ll just try a flavored one. I think I ended up using GT’s Trilogy, and luckily it worked fine.
Shaved bacon ends can be bought in Amish bulk stores and l cook them in the crockpot. On high 5 hours or until crispy !...strain thru a sifter to separate Grease...save bacon Grease to cook with...store bacon crumbles in freezer for soups and salads 😊
Hey I have a chili crockpot recipe! It’s also a budget recipe. I’m sure you can adjust to fit😊 first turn on crockpot to HIGH. Then it’s 2 pounds ground beef browned with lots of chili powder and cumin to taste( my family likes a lot), salt and pepper add that to pot, add a whole large head of garlic chopped fine, one large yellow onion, I go one of two ways here either 2 lbs of fresh ‘berry’ (the really small cherry tomatoes) tomatoes or 5-7 cans (8 oz) of your favorite dicrd tomatoes, for every two cans of tomatoes use at least one 8oz can of beans of your choice, drain half thr liquid from your beans ,and more chili, cumin, salt, and pepper. Keep this on HIGH till the edges bubble and keep bubbling even after stirring well. This should take a few hours. Let it go like this for 3ish hours. Season to taste along the way keep in mind quite a bit of water will evaporate and the spices will get stronger slowly. I add in hour to two hour increments. Then turn to low for at least another 5 hours. You can go longer if you want but this is how I’ve had non watery chili for years in a crockpot.
Wow .... You are one amazing family !! Beautiful homestead brilliant supportive extended family. Loving environment for your gorgeous little one to grow up and share your ethos. Thank you for posting and sharing all your hard work with us. From UK
CROCK POT i always make beef dip sandwhiches. chuck roast with all the seasonings and stock for low 8 hours. make those homemade french breads you been making. toast in oven. top with shredded meat and choice of cheese and back in the oven for a bit to melt. sooooo quick and easy. Dip the sandwhiches in the juice!
Wow! Great job on the puff pastry! I never knew how to get those layers, def will try this one! Thanks for another great video Becky! I appreciate you and all your efforts to provide such great content for us!
2 large chicken breasts, seasoned with salt pepper and whatever Mexican seasonings you like, and your favorite salsa (just enough to cover) cook on slow 4-6 hours. Shred for tacos or serve in burrito bowls. You can add corn and already cooked beans in the last hour if you like.
Becky, my dear friend, thank you for being so genuine. It is so appreciated. And where can I find the kitchen apron that you always use now? I would love to get a couple. Thanks
Hi Becky, I love watching you, when using your crock pot put a clean towel over the top and then put the lid on. Towel will absorb the moisture and keep recipe from getting to wet. I also use less broth then most recipe call for can add more later is you want something thinner.
I’m retired also and I love watching her! ❤
Would agree with you retirement is very lonesome so I got a little job doing shopping for a couple of elderly people it is so great

Becky, a tip for keeping your shredded butter even colder; chill your metal bowl ahead of putting the shredded butter in it.
Good for you Toni! I know I wish i had learned more from my g'parents and my dad and mom bc once they are gone that knowledge is as well!
Does anyone else think those landscapers are never going to finish… cause they will miss the treats
😂😂 was thinking the same. Was thinking they are going to come visit to see how the garden turns out hoping Becky will send them home with goodies! You are so sweet Becky
Hahaha! Good one!
@@karenmomoftwins8847 that’s what I was going to say. 😆😆😆 I’m sure they’re SO grateful for the treats!!
Makes me.wish I was Becky's landscapers for sure
Yeah! ❤😂 they are going to be quite spoiled after this project.
To be clear, you need an open container or jug to hold the water while it's evaporating.
@@anastasiaharris9125 I keep my filter pitcher in the fridge so I always have clean cold water for cooking, drink mixes (I like making my own lemonade, tea, etc.), or whatever I need clean drinking water for. I rent, so there's no way to install a more permanent system here. 🙂
does boiling it or putting it thru a britta water filter do the same thing?
False... in most cases it's chloramine...not chlorine( smells similar) it will never evaporate out... butn1/4 tsp of vitamin c powder will break the chemical bonds and allow it to break down...
Thank you for posting the real recipe links. It’s very cool that you’re giving recipe creators credit/acknowledgement that they work very hard for.
For the crockpot, my fav is Rouladen! It’s a German meat dish. Long thin strips of beef, rolled up with bacon, mustard and pickles. The crockpot moisture that you mentioned makes a delicious gravy. Serve with some potatoes and a cabbage salad. Hmmm mmmm good 😍😍
Crock pot stuffed peppers
Crockpot stuffed bell peppers stuffed with Mexican style seasoned ground beef, rice, black beans and queso blanco, then cooked low and slow in a slow cooker. Super easy!
Ingredients:
• 10 colorful bell peppers
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 jalapeno pepper chopped
• 1 small white onion chopped
• 2 cloves garlic chopped
• 1 pound ground beef
• 2 cups cooked white rice
• 15- ounce can black beans
• 15- ounce can crushed tomatoes
• 1 cup frozen corn
• 1 cup shredded queso blanco or Monterrey Jack cheese
• 3 tablespoons favorite taco seasoning
• Salt and Pepper to taste
FOR TOPPING
• Chopped cilantro
• Diced avocado
• Mexican crema or sour cream
• Favorite hot sauce for serving
Directions:
• Slice the tops from the bell peppers and core out the insides.
Enjoy!
This sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Becky, for chives, I find that using scissors vs. a knife provides a more consistent cut on them. I use scissors in a LOT of different scenarios but chives is a 100% always choice. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
Will the chives grow back after you cut them?
“Growing back” is one great thing about chives. They are terrific. Just keep them them on the shelf and keep them growing.
I love that pantry and the huge deep freezer. Girl, you stay ready!

Yummy that sounds amazing! Thank you for this idea I am going to make this one night this week thank you again!
Sounds lovely, i was looking for a recipe like this, thank you.
Such a great way to have shredded pork. Pulled pork with bbq sauce is always good too
Becky, did you ever get your furniture for your sun room?
I have made meatloafs in my crockpot in the warm and hot months when the menfolk were begging for meatloaf and I didn't want to heat up the house. It worked perfectly! They loved it. I just used a spray oil and let it get really hot before I placed it in there. Cooked it for about 4 hours, topped it with catsup and worchesterchire sauce and mustard mix. Sometimes, if I have it, I top it also with crumbled bacon.
One of my favorite crock pot recipes is Mongolian beef! You need:
1lb1/2 flank or skirt steak
1/4 cornstarch
2tbls olive oil
2-3 garlic cloves minced
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 cup water
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup of grated carrots.
Green onions for garnish if you have it.
Cut the beef thinly against the grain and coat with the corn starch. Set aside
Mix remaining ingredients in crock pot and then add the beef making sure that it's coated in the sauce.
Beef stew
Combine in crock pot:
2lb beef roast cubed
2 cups sliced carrots
2 cups diced potatoes
1 medium onion sliced
Sprinkle with:
2 teaspoons quick cooking tapioca
Salt
Pepper
Pour over:
8oz tomato sauce
1 cup water
Cover cook on low 8 hours. One hour before cooking time ends add:
1-1/2 cups frozen peas
Thank you so much friend for sharing these amazing recipes! I love working with puff pastry and I enjoy your vlogs. 😊
Cut the edges of the pastry after the first lamination. The reason it doesn’t puff is that the butter layer does not go all the way to the edges at first, sometimes you can actually feel where the butter stops. You can incorporate the cut piece of dough into the center of the dough during the next fold.
Wow, what a great piece of information to have. I've stopped trying because I couldn't get my puff pastry to puff. This is so helpful.
Becky I really enjoy watching you taste your food, you talk with your eyes.(wonderful) The danish looked so good.❤️
I think you are awesome!
A family favorite here is diced potatoes on the bottom, then sliced polish sausage, covered with a layer of sauer kraut. Easy and delicious.
Do you use fresh or smoked Polish?
@@laurieschmidtke7497 smoked kielbasa 😊
Agree. I have never really loved the flavors the crock pot gives. The instant pots flavors are even better than the oven/stove. I'm obsessed
I use an Instant Pot almost daily. Most CrockPot recipes can be adapted.
Lamb shanks are the best part of winter, I use port instead of red wine in mine, and reduce the sauce at the end to make it thick and glossy
When I make Danishes I blind bake them to just near done, I then add my topping that way the pastry is fully baked and the toppings do not dry out or burn.
My grandmother had a glass rolling pin she filled up with ice water when she used it. It was only used for pastry.
I bought one at a garage sale. I collect rolling pens. I never knew that was for ice water. Thanks for information!
@@cynthiacook7768 once it has ice water in it. It becomes perfectly balanced and you don’t need a lot of pressure to flatten the dough. Make sure yours has the rubber gaskets on it. If not, you can find something that will work at a hardware store.
@@tennagrover6140 Thanks!
Becky you look so refreshed and happy. Thank you for helping me develop different skills in my kitchen and my garden. Much love
I love the way you explain why do you have to do certain things in certain ways and what happens if you don’t do it right
I love how it feels like we are actually in ur kitchen with you, like when you took a quiet moment to eat lunch and you said it was nice to have us there as company. Keep being you, bye friend x
4:52 if you gently scatter butter onto piece of wax paper, sprinkle with flour, and then cover with an inverted baking sheet you’ve had in the freezer it’s even easier to make
When you cook bacon, pour bacon grease in an ice cube tray. You can freeze them and pull out anytime you need some extra flavor.
I love that you can hear the flaky crisp in the danish when she took a bite!
If you take your bowl that you're mixing that pastry with and set it on a bowl of ice it will keep it colder and your butter will not melt fast
I make honey, garlic chicken or tenderloin as well in the pot, and it's ah-mazing
@@tinanelson1128 OOh a tenderloin would be delicious!!
My favorite crockpot recipe is a browned beef roast with a stick of real butter set on top, a packet of ranch dressing, packet of au jus, and about 5 peppercinis. On low about 8 hrs. Makes just enough juice to drizzle on the meat.
I use the whole jar of peppercinis including all the juice!!! Love all the nice gravy!
I make this also! Cut the roast up and make hoagie buns with provolone. Italian beef sandwiches! Yummy crock pots are not just for soups and such.
Been a while since I’ve watch a video but good to see you’re doing well Becky!!! Praying for blessings on you, your husband and your little precious baby boy!!
Fold over the pastry on top of the filling, really nice presentation
My favorite crock pot recipe is a Mississippi pot roast. There are lots of recipes online and I just usually pull one up.
I have one saved! I will try it!
My favorite way of using a roast that is less expensive. It always turns out tender and juicy.
My daughter loves the Mississippi pot roast. (She's a first time mom and this recipe is so easy!) Mashed potatoes on the side!
Oh my. That puff pastry is a serious labor of love, although you make it look easy. You’re a great teacher. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
I love this idea. Do you fill the whole crockpot with water and put the chicken in? Or do you let the chicken create it's own juices?
@@kaesmomFitz just chicken. Nothing else
Becky those danishes look absolutely delicious, I am going to give it a shot! Thank you again for sharing another great recipe with us
You always make things look so easy Becky!
I use my crockpot for almost everything. I love the smell of the long cooking process vs the instant pot.
Can you please share your exact recipe Marilyn? Thank you.
@@laurenmusial3750 recipe you requested:
Pork and Sauerkraut
4 large red potatoes about 1 1/2 lbs cut in half
Sauerkraut (32 oz) drained
1 large onion chunked
1 large Granny Smith apple pealed and cored, coarsely chopped
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp caraway seeds
1 tsp garlic minced
1/2 tsp pepper
One 2 1/2 pond boneless pork loin
Place potatoes in bottom of crock pot. Mix all other ingredients except pork. Put half on potatoes. Add pork, top with remaining sauerkraut mixture. Cover and cook on high for 8 hours or until pork is tender.
This recipe is very forgiving and you can adjust to your taste. We like having extra apples.
Enjoy!
@@marilynprietto1162 thank you so much. I can't wait to try it!
I think that dough, thinly rolled and baked in muffin pan with a filling of your choice would be perfect for parties:)))

I love making Mississippi pot roast in the crock pot but I also add potato, onion and carrots to mine. Those danish's look scrumptious!
Maybe I'll get a new batch going too if I didn't kill mine 😊
The soup & danishes look amazing! Happy cooking!
I can hear that little bit of crunch when you bite into the puff pastry. Yum!!

Girl you derserve a fresh cup of coffee!!! It will go great with that blueberry pastry. Yummmmy
I use a spray bottle when making crust. It works great in adding water to pastry
Becky, my dear friend, thank you for being so genuine. It is so appreciated. And where can I find the kitchen apron that you always use now? I would love to get a couple. Thanks
Me too, curious...
What if you drizzled a little bit of frosting glaze on your danish? Bet that would be too yummy.
Hi Becky, I love watching you, when using your crock pot put a clean towel over the top and then put the lid on. Towel will absorb the moisture and keep recipe from getting to wet. I also use less broth then most recipe call for can add more later is you want something thinner.
