@@baldcuts5977 I don't know how it is for everyone but mine was quite informal. Not gunna lie it was probably one of the most casual conversations I've had. I did get asked why I want to join the army and I said "well even though I have a university degree, I still feel the army can offer me more than my degree ever could, like character building, confidence, discipline and transferable skills" and he said that's great. They'll also probably ask you what exercise you've been doing and if you think you're fit enough. They want you to exceed their 2km minimum run. They'll probably want to know what education you have and where you did it and then they'll talk about your score on your practice cognitive screener test you should have done. After that he took my education and said that from what he knows of me, he'd either put me in the Royal military police (because of my university criminology degree) or intelligence/signals because I'm a bit more brainier than your average infantryman😂 there is nothing to worry about, I would say it's more of a breifing than an interview as they just want to know you know what to expect. Good luck though bud :D
Hi there, yes, you can join the RAF with no qualifications. You will still need to undertake the RAF Airman Test, but I recommend checking out the following page to see if you meet the eligibility criteria for your chosen role: www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/how-to-apply/eligibility-check/ Cheers, Richard

Hi Richard idk if you’re still replying since this was a year ago but I’m worried about the interview since I want to be honest but my answers won’t be good enough since I am not confident and have no idea how to boost my confidence up since I thought they could help with that? I have a lot of anxiety but I can push myself to do anything I have no idea wether to say this or leave it out I’m not very well educated since I missed 2 years off of school and I have no idea if it will affect the way they see me the reason I’m so worried is because I’ve wanted this ever since I was a kid but I feel I might not be able to do it I have everything else the fitness and the integrity loyalty and I can be professional and push myself it’s just my confidence and inactivity which is the problem should I be honest?

Great video! I have a question regarding covid, given now that it's impossible to do certain things such as shake hands, what would you recommend to do? Are there any additional tips you might give us for the pandemic interviews? thank you
Persistence is key to better yourself, but if you're not getting through after a certain number of attempts you really need to consider if the army is for you.
For the fourth question can i say that i have moved to England at the age of 8 and i have adapted to the surrounding and i have learned the English language easily and also talk about that i did Duke of Edinburgh
Hello Richard, I have only just stumbled across this video, but the advice is very helpful indeed. I do have a few questions, however. I have made an application with the Army and I have been informed, due to my level of UCAS points, that my application can be switched to an officer position. The first thing I would like to ask is regarding the needed qualifications to become an officer, with the Intelligence Corps as my first choice. I have 6 GCSE's, including a C in English and two B's in science, however I do have a D in maths. I also have three A-levels and a Diploma of Higher Education from university. With all that in mind, will the lack of a C in maths still be an issue for me? Secondly, I would like to ask a question regarding the weight restrictions. At one point in time I weighed a whopping 27st. I have been working very hard to shift that weight, including dieting and regular exercise for an hour a day. I run for 30 minutes, and for the other 30 minutes I lift weights and do press-ups etc...I now weigh 19 stone. As I understand my BMI is still slightly above the upper limits. Will the Army take into account the hard work put into my weight loss? Alongside my good level of fitness, given my size? Thirdly, when I was younger, around 16, I had a traumatic experience that left me with anxiety issues for around 2 years after the experience. I was never diagnosed with anything like PSTD, but I did receive treatment for my anxiety. In the end, using my initiative, I purchased a decent program that allowed me to overcome the episode without medication and I haven't had any further issues since. Can this also be used against me when making an application to be an officer?
You can bring a fresh notebook to make notes throughout the interview however I would not suggest bringing in your answers written down. I hope this helps! :)
Have an interview for the canadian reserves coming up and I appreciate all this, except this video is almost 20 minutes, but my interview is apparently gonna last an hour and a half, so like, damn.

Yes commonwealth people can join as an officer, you need to be 18 and the academic qualification you will need will be A-Levels or the equivalent for your country.
Just finish my interview it was only 15 minutes The only question they ask me why do u want to join the army I need to army Office and sign stuff that’s it and they ask u weight and height and yes and no question as well that’s it really not hard honestly easy I’m scared for 15 waiting on it if everyone else is joining the army it’s not that hard for the interview
When I applied to join the army a few years ago , I passed all the tests but failed the interview within seconds. They looked at the paperwork - remember, I passed everything with flying colours - Looked at me with pleasant smiles and told me that they didn’t want me. When I asked the reason they told me that my IQ of 148 was much too high to be a soldier. They said they didn’t think I would have the required respect for people of superior rank . I nodded in agreement and replied “ Point taken gents, thanks for your feedback”. We shook hands and I have remained a civilian ever since.
Hello sir am joshua i come from kenya i submitted my application 3 weeks ago kindly help me to understand. They sent me a letter which was congratulating me for the application but after a few day i received a letter which was congratulations for your application we are sorry to inform you for now we are not taking the commonwealth until further noticed if you wish to reapply then switch the button below and do that .kindly am stack help me to understand. Can i wait or can i continue reapply agen since i have already the sponsor from England
It sounds like the organisation initially accepted applications for the Commonwealth program but later decided to pause or cancel the intake. Since they've invited you to reapply when applications reopen, you can choose to wait for further notice or follow their instructions to reapply if you're still interested. If you have specific concerns, reaching out to them for clarification might help. Does this help?

Although, it is not common, can the candidate responds to "Why you want to join the army" question by saying that one of the reasons of joining the army is to pay back to a country that opened its arms and doors for him? (If the candidate was immigrant or refugee for example and became citizen of course). Thank you.

@@tammycooper3669 it went well, I've had my application deferred due to medical reasons now but I still have a chance to sort it out. Hey Richard why should I choose you rather than other potential recruits??
If it was my Army Interview, I would say:
"I genuinely believe I am the best candidate for the role because I have studied the job role in detail and also believe I can meet and surpass the expectations and standard of the British Army. I am not saying I am perfect, but what I am saying is that I will always work hard to develop, improve and help my teammates and act as a positive role model for the Army. I also believe I am the best candidate because I plan to stay loyal and dedicated to the Army for many years to come. I see this as a long-term career, and providing the Army is happy with my performance, I would at some point like to progress through the ranks. I can assure you that, if I am successful at the Army Interview today, I will not let you down."

I have my army interview on the 4th September but it is over the phone because of the pandemic which kind of worries me, I feel like the recruiter won't get the true sense of how I am with just my voice
Yh my interview is over the phone in a hour I’m very nervous and don’t think I can answer all these questions
Same for me mine is tommorow I would far prefer if it was in person but hey it is what it is
@@baldcuts5977 I don't know how it is for everyone but mine was quite informal.

You will still need to undertake the RAF Airman Test, but I recommend checking out the following page to see if you meet the eligibility criteria for your chosen role: www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/how-to-apply/eligibility-check/
Cheers,
Richard

What jobs in the Royal Air Force are available to those who have no qualifications
Here you go... you don't need any qualifications for the Supply, Storage and Distribution Specialist Apprentice role :)

Hi Richard idk if you’re still replying since this was a year ago but I’m worried about the interview since I want to be honest but my answers won’t be good enough since I am not confident and have no idea how to boost my confidence up since I thought they could help with that?

When I applied to join the army a few years ago , I passed all the tests but failed the interview within seconds. They looked at the paperwork - remember, I passed everything with flying colours - Looked at me with pleasant smiles and told me that they didn’t want me. When I asked the reason they told me that my IQ of 148 was much too high to be a soldier. They said they didn’t think I would have the required respect for people of superior rank . I nodded in agreement and replied “ Point taken gents, thanks for your feedback”. We shook hands and I have remained a civilian ever since.

Hi, I'm just going through my interview answers and I was wondering if I could throw in a bit of humour in with the answers? For example "Why do you want to join the army?"
