  • Time to open up and get real today, I talk about how obsessive compulsive disorder has been something I’ve struggled with my entire life. Reaching my mid 20’s I realized it got significantly worse, and it was time for a change. Here I talk about my decision for 2019, being a new year, to start taking medication for my OCD, what OCD is as a mental disorder, and how I hope to help myself.

What I do is keep reminding myself of how logically I think, and knowing that no matter how real this ideas in my head seem, and how i interpreted those incoming signals,I just tell myself that i'm overreacting,I won't deny that the negative feelings that comes along with ocd disappear, but little by little you start to réalise that its just another episode, just be aware of those unreal and negative idea and separate them from your reality, keep telling yourself the logical conclusions and keep affirming them so that they'll establish stronger,i'm now trying to face it without any medication, wish me luck guys.

She’s right something in our heads is broken or a missing gap between neurons, it’s ok to admit that doesn’t mean your lesser of a person, in fact this is the new norm. Zoloft helped me with my OCD and it got really really worse with age.

It took so much courage for you to speak about your experience publicly. I too suffer from OCD. I have yet to try medication, I definitely want to. ERP therapy is supposedly considered the gold standard for treatment. I know you said it’s expensive but I found an app called NOCD that you may find helpful. Therapy is actually quite affordable through the app, especially if your insurance is accepted. All licensed OCD therapists with wonderful reviews. I start my second session this week. Wishing you the best! Hope you’re doing well.

I could literally write a novel about how much I can relate. I'll sum it up with short descriptions from when I was a child and had no idea that what I was doing was a symptom of OCD, until now, where I realized that the majority of my life is controlled by this mental illness....
I used to stop in the middle of what I was doing, no matter the place or time, to untie and "re-tie" my shoes because I had to make sure each shoes was tightened at exactly the same tension as the other... I did similar things with my hair, making sure each side was exactly symmetrical with the other... As I said before, I could go on and on with the little things that I did and had no idea was a symptom of my OCD...
Fast forward to now, and I am checking my front door, back door, side door, and garage door at least 10 to 20 times before I can leave that house. From checking the stove, all electrical outlets, flipping light switches, and the endless anxiety of something happening to a loved one, it is completely debilitating. It controls my life... I found your video today because I typed in treating OCD with Zoloft and I was curious about any reviews people had. I did this because my new doctor suggested and prescribed it to me today...
Just listening to your "testimony" nearly brought me to tears. I have lost relationships, jobs, and friendships over this issue. As you mentioned multiple times in your video, people that don't have it and nonchalantly use it as a joke to describe being nitpicky do not realize the severity of really having this disorder. As I'm sure you know, it's not their fault though. If we were to have never had it, we wouldn't know any better either. I just want you to know that I understand 100%....
I hope that this medication has continued to be beneficial for you, for the sake both of us, and anyone else that is going through this!!! :)

I also developed pure O when I was nine and it started with religious thoughts as well... I understand so well the feelings of guilt. I am currently dealing with PURE O , but I wanted to ask have you ever heard of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) best well known method for all OCD. Exposing yourself to the fears you’ve created in your head instead of suppressing them. E.g losing your boyfriend , instead of saying how you don’t want to lose him tell yourself that you want to lose him and sit with that feeling. What that will do is rewire the brain to no longer fear that thought and it will gradually decrease the better your become at letting the thoughts sit. I’m dealing with mines currently and I hope that helps you along your journey. You are strong and brave !

I'm on 60 paxil, lamotrine 150- 2x a day and over the counter ZAC. and Clonapin as needed. think I am getting immune to them. One thing I found helps, is listening with earphones before sleep to subliminal videos. There are so many, for different disorders. I go on the ones that are for intrusive thoughts and ocd. They have subliminal affirmations that get to your sub conscious Good luck. There is also online help where therapists give tips on how to deal with the problem. @@rachaelwitchey8268 maybe a little. I think therapy will help. Also I may need to bump up to 150 mg. I've heard that ocd generally requires a higher dose to be effective vs depression. But everybody is different. Talk to your doctor and see what they say. Don't change dosage by yourself and definitely don't quit taking them cold turkey. If you decide you want to come off them you have to taper off very slowly. Probably better to do it over a course of many months lowering the dosage by 12.5 mg every couple weeks. A doctor may say to taper off over a course of four weeks but from what I've learned you should do it much slower than that.
