    I never tried American shad before, looks good, i would say to use coffee powder for remove bad smell, and if you use pork fat for fry is delicious too ... Nice video brother!!!!

    Head, gut, brine and/or marinade, stick their tails up between the wires of your smoker’s rack(s) and secure with skewers stuck through the flesh an inch or so below the tail, and smoke. That makes dealing with the bones very easy!

    Great shad-catching action! I've been wanting to try this for the last couple of years myself, but haven't gotten to it yet. In Virginia, you can't keep any shad--I guess they're endangered and in need of protection. Similar method, except most of our rivers are much shallower, so the 1 oz. egg sinker isn't needed (and would likely cause you to snag bottom). Your multi-species adventure continues!

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  3 года назад +1

      That's interesting. They are actually an invasive (introduced?) species over here. Seems like they should just ship some over there. No shortage here.
      I was going to do some carp fishing this week but stuff came up. Hopefully next week I will be able to.

      Don't harass the surgeon. There's no reason to stress out the oversize spawners. They reabsorb they're eggs because of catch and release fishing.

  • @GoOwls20
    @GoOwls20 3 года назад

    White people don't eat them because they likely relate them to bait shad we have in the rest of the country, threadfin and gizzard shad ...those things are plain nasty to eat, I've heard....I admit, I didn't know about the shad you fished for, so when i saw the title of the video, I thought, what the hell is he cooking shad for....now I know bait shad is different from eating types of shad...learned something today.

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  3 года назад

      I am not sure if those ones are bad to eat. I should have tried to eat the gizzard shad I caught in Iowa. Those were almost as big as these. These smell as bad as gizzard though especially if you get them on your hands.
