How often should a air filter be replaced is it every year ?
We recommend every year for best performance.
Depends on how dirty the roads you drive on, I always change air filter every 30,k miles or 2 years , unless you drive on very dirty roads then once a year or 15,k miles
You can't just open the air filter housing unit by unhooking the 3 locks. It won't open that wide. It's obvious in the video between taking out the air filter and inserting the air filter, he did something else to open the housing unit big enough to insert the air filter. Wish the detail is available.
You need to make sure that the back side of the housing unlatches you can see this at the 3:26 mark in the video.

Hello should you be able to see the white part of the filter at all on the side closest to the engine ? Like i see the white part of the filter very faintly
If the housing is closed you should not see the filter. Your alignment may be slightly off. It may take some time to realign the housing properly.

This engine filter has about 16 pleats.
