    As a photographer it’s amazing seeing everyone learning about bokeh for the first time lmao, photography and videography are amazing hobbies and there’s so much creativity potential in both. I’d highly recommend trying to get into one of the two

      well, actually in that case you are changing the shape of the light instead of the shape of the aperture. both can be used to get this effect, with proper focusing that is.

    I remember growing up with cardboard glasses around Christmas time that had lenes that did this for your eyes. The idea was you'd look at Christmas lights and you'd see them all in whatever shapes the lenses were designed for, usually things like Snowflakes and Snowmen.
    They were awesome.

      ​@@HORROR4EVERYeah, but not having a part 2 doesn't automatically make it good quality content. Likewise, having 2 parts does not intrinsically lower the quality.
      And I'm not saying this is bad quality, I didn't know about this and thought it was interesting. But I also found the premise of "trying out a rumor" to be pretty fake.

    My favorite trick is to make the cutout just a circle, but slight smaller than the actual iris. It results in a swirly bokeh

    The Christmas Tree place near me has glasses that change lights to whatever shape is on the glasses, Santa, snowmen, etc. it was pretty cool

    You should try to use a pattern hole punch. They are used for scrapbooking and some of those shapes are really cool

    I remember a long time ago McDonald's was giving out Happy meal toys for the spiderwick Chronicles and in the movie there's a circular stone that allows you to see the creatures that are depicted in the spiderwick Chronicles
    The toy idea was these little lenses that when you look through them change the shape of light blurs
    I always wondered how those things were made

    Doesn't anyone remember that solar eclipse a few years ago?? The light bits in tree shade literally took the shape of the eclipse, or any small pinpoint light. It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen irl

    I was at a concert and it was raining pretty hard. I had front row tickets and was having a blast, and didn’t notice that a water droplet on my phone camera distorted the lights and made them all star-shaped. Coolest video I’ve ever taken.

    Use something like a circuit or any kind of cutter to make more intricate and fine tuned designs and you can even build in cuts to make it easier to wrap around a lens

    I've never heard that word for them. I just call them light sequins, and I see them everywhere in everything when I take my glasses off. It's one perk of having nearsightedness; I can experience the world in a completely different way if I feel like it

    There are cheap glasses that look like solar eclipse glasses which do that big with your normal vision, it’s a really cool thing and the way it turns with your head reminds me of astigmatism

    I want to get back into film and photography and i wanna try this. I was doing focus pulling when i first got out of highschool and kind of stopped doing it when i had to take on other responsibilities in my personal life. I just wanna enjoy life.
