Maybe he has loosened up again because in light of the past two years he is not taking himself so seriously. Great to see. This playful mood is what creates the great albums, maybe it is a sign of more good stuff on the way.
So rare to hear Bob in such a jokey, talkative mood. Delightful. Normally at his recent gigs you're real lucky to get more than "Thank you, goodnight".
@@rhwinner In recent years he just doesn't do this kind of thing hence why this upload has been created. I saw him in 2014 and I don't recall him speaking to the audience once.
I was there .. he was GREAT and definitely had some fun with the audience as well as the band! First time I've seen him ... someone I've admired and listened to since I was born! Got a great seat and went on a whim! Thanks, Bob! What a fantastic night!
I heard his latest Theme Time Radio Hour, recorded last year, and he sounded more energetic and - dare I say it - HAPPY than I have ever heard him! He's 80 years old, for God's sake! My God, this guy almost never said ANYTHING between songs. He just stood up there, almost like a singing machine. Then again, once in a while he gets inexplicably talkative, like at that awards show where he talked for half an hour. Then didn't show up for the Nobel Prize! (That's our Bob.)
Thank you so much. If you listen close you can hear me yell “Adrian” when Dylan mentioned Stallone. Great show. Talked about it at Thanksgiving and ended up talking my family into seeing him in Boston….the Beacon show was better. Love to get the full show
Fortunate to have seen Bob 8 times. In those times I've only heard him "speak" at two of those gigs (even band intros). This is THE most I've ever heard him speak at a gig.
Thankyou very much for this. Us Dylan fans need to see this man when we can’t be there ourselves to see it. And even though Bob prefers people not to record him. Cheers from WesteRn Australia
Last time I saw Dylan he didn’t say one single word to the audience during the show, not even “thank you and good night”. And he mumbled incoherently through each song. He changes the arrangements of his music when he plays live, which is great, but when he is mumbling lyrics you wind up sitting there trying to figure out what song he’s singing. He was 3/4 of the way through Blowing in the Wind before I recognized what tune he doing.
I've read so many Dylan bios (and am pushing my way through Ian Bell's thousand-page tome), and they ALL say he hardly ever speaks, and does not even speak to his musicians. He has a deluxe trailer or flies by private jet, while his entourage takes a bus.
Yup. We still remain but not standing still, busy living “green and growing”! Tony, I wish I had a friend as true. What an honor and privilege. A treasure and gift always.
Wow. I've got every possible Dylan release. Well over 200 bootlegs. Have never heard him talk to the crowd like that. Very cool!!! But then again he is Bob Dylan!
I actually predicted this-I said I bet after over year of being quarantined even Bob Dylan would be so happy to get back he’d engage the crowd!! Lol! Yep, he’s happy to be out again ❤️
Rough and Rowdy Ways has all the influences of a typical Blake Mills produced album. The guitar flourishes and the tone of each song carries that distinct Mills touch. It's a shame, and unbecomingly disgraceful, for Dylan to credit Mills as an "additional musician" on the album.
Listening to Bob nowadays specialy live , reminds me of a younger Tom waits. The voice, the humour ,the crispy voice... the mood. Themes like "the piano has been drinking "(not me) a kind of saloon/cabaret sound. Am i totally Wrong on this ? 😎
Great to hear Bob Dylan having some fun in his concert. Love from a fan of yours Adam. Take care of yourself Bob Dylan. Have a great tour of United States of America. He is still a great musician.
I reckon there'd be some laughter shared on those big tour buses of Bob's. Great to hear this. Bob's music has had an eternal impact on my life. Thanks, Bob.
Saw Bob a couple of weeks ago in Cincinnati, O.H. Great show, he introduced the band and mentioned Kings records and Roy Rogers......oh and Trigger too.
Some stand-up comic added to the show....and Tony got a much deserved ovation.....he has never been this funny. before that I know. I am laughing so hard...lol
Saw him in concert in the UK a few years back. The miserable prat said hardly a word. So underwhelming. For all his wonderful music and poetry, he needs to learn how to interact with an audience. I enjoyed the gig, mind.😊
What's up with that weird way he talks ? Is that a Minnesota draw? Bob loves to put everyone on by creating different personnas .....he's very much like Leonard Choen these days
No, he’s always talked like that since the 1960s. He speaks with staccatos! And he twitches a lot when he talks. I even heard taped private phone conversations. He speaks the same.
If 3 minutes of Bob chatter gets you turned on, you gotta take a good, hard look at yourself! But yes, it gives a clue that he is rather more comfortable in his skin. Unsurprising because he's had time, like most of us, to smell the roses and a little less hard travellin", hard gamblin" and hopefully a less hard drinkin'.
Thanks for sharing this. That's more words than he has uttered in the dozen or so concerts of his I've been to over the last 3 decades.
Maybe he’s been drinking some of his whiskey

sounds more like 'sure' to my ears
it was actually hilarious
he should add "shut up" to the song...just kidding..
His idol is Little Richard. LR's catch phrase of sorts was 'shut up' which he'd say to the audience. At least this is my interpretation.
