Bob was not afraid to speak the truth. He wrote, "you're gonna have to serve somebody, it may be the devil, or it may be the Lord but you're gonna have to serve somebody." I like Bob Dylan, but I think his harmonica playing is horrible to listen to. "Oldies" with guitar, electric piano (I thought it was called Hammond Organ? The kind of electric piano music made specially in the 60's by band like The Doors and many others, creating a special feeling and fitting really good into "hippie" music, progressive and psychedelic rock), electric guitar, bass and drums, are better then anything made today. The last great music was made in the 90's, is my feeling as a 44 year old. Thank you for sharing. Alv V, Norway
How much do I love you Bob Dylan…….let me count the ways ❤ Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. To me, you’ll always be a LEGEND and a worldwide treasure. At a tender age I had just a few of Dylan's albums and they are ingrained in me. How he channeled so much for so long is a marvel. From the get go Dylan understood we need a better understanding of compassion. He refined that message and himself over time. A perennial artist. May we witness more souls like his. Thank you Bob.
A true prophet of our time true human being Great to be alive during this turbulent times of human evolvement Thank you Bob for the great music and your prophetic words of a life time. May you live long
I had purchased one of those (Bob Dylan) 5,000 original records back when first released. I still play the CD often. Great stuff. John Wesley Harding kept me sane my first year in college (67'). You want sad? Try Sad Eyed Lady of the Low Lands. Blonde on Blonde. This guy is the best.
i`m certain Mr Dylan will have been so happy to have reached his 80`s and will be so thrilled to just wake up every day to live more of his own life, with that unique perception he posesses, bless his heart, the way he lives is so cool !😎
I believe the happiest (most joyful) time of Dylan's life was when he met the Lord and wrote some great songs about his new life in Christ Jesus. Bob was not afraid to speak the truth. He's lived a massively successful life. I don't find anything sad about his life. I wish my life was as sad as his. He will always be a big part of musical history.
I would say his life is truly fulfilled through his music. He has been successful through many genres and has a wide audience appeal in many countries. I like his early folk music for its exquisite poetry, and his later rockabilly music, especially when backed by The Band. That collaboration set the stage for many artists to come to prominence in rock, country western and blues.
After looking at this I don't see a life lacking or under served. He has plenty of time for introspection, art, wisdom and religion. I am envious. We would do well to study him.

This is truly hilarious. I was unwillingly riveted as if watching a car crash. For all the work that went into collecting story nuggets & photographs, it seemed the entire staggering load was just dropped on the floor and the subsequent mess picked up as is and thrown onto video. Leaving aside the verbal mispronunciations, blatant errors (two non-existent double albums are reported), and ridiculous title and intro words that are never supported or revisited, any connection to audio & video tracks seems purely accidental. The lack of any coherent story or timeline in the narrative amplifies this unintentionally schizophrenic presentation. Editorial judgement appears to have been made with era 2004 AI software. Fleeting glimpses of rando musicians the computer must have thought were Dylan give the viewer that truly unexpected tough. If the voice narration was human, we can be sure he never saw or had any familiarity with the subject. This extraordinary achievement is unlikely to ever be surpassed. Five Stars!!!
Bob Dylan, his Positively 4th Street, for me, my favorite. And for me, relates to my ex wife from 1975 to my daughter, now in 2020. Yea, all the lines, perfect shoe fits for them.
I am privileged to have attended a couple of concerts with my folk hero ! The first was in the 80’s and it was kinda strange as he hid behind a large fidora hat and didn’t show his face ! The highlight was actually when his opener joined him , Tom Petty , and they rocked the stage ! The second time was in Japan , a much smaller concert hall , and just him and a small band . He came out in a Spanish Bolero of black and silver with no hat ! I rushed the stage and watched his amazing performance 3 meters from the stage ! I was just amazed by his talent and legacy of his work! I play many of his songs with friends and everyone knows the tunes ! Thankful My life has been filled with Bob Dylan music !!!!!!
i know he had a ruff start but i have all ways liked his music in fact when i was in my 20ts i use to ride my Motor cycle past his house ..i love music i still play my guitar and love his music God bless you Bobby

So far I’ve imagined seeing Axl Rose & Roger Daltrey amongst the illustrious musicians Bob appeared with which indicates I’ve missed my meds again. Being old is no joke .
Dylan was my high school music star had all the albums and sang all his songs. I was a long haired hippie guy until I was drafted in October 67. Joan Baez was protesting at the draft board to give us all a send off .A bus full 19 year olds singing Dylan all the way to the airport and beyond. Those was the days my friend, we thought they'd never end!!
I lucked out in the first draft lottery and 329 has been my favorite number ever since! That doesn't mean I would have shown up to be inducted otherwise into this utterly evil war; instead I would have moved to Canada as soon as possible. It would have been a good move in any case, since Canada provides Universal Health Care to all its citizens despite their economic circumstances - like every other actually *civilized* country except the USA, where low-income people are literally thrown out in the street if they can't pay their hospital bills! This is unspeakably cruel and unnecessary, but even the Democrats don't do much to stop it for some reason, and innocent people *DIE* because of it!
I listened to your album "The Times, They are a Changin' since 1963, or whatever year you released it. That was on a mono, very cheap record player, and think I wore the vinyl out. I listened a lot, and stopped sometime after your set of aging guy songs, twenty years ago. So, you're a businessman now? You've always been one, but that's that's the real reason we have so much of your art to dissect. Thank You, Sir, for living such an interesting life.
Sounds like he just can't stop doesn't it? I guess if you keep looking for it you'll find sadness in all people's lives. The trick is to get past that and live again. From all you're telling here, the whole summation of the life of a giant in twenty minutes you can only say one thing: he just won't quit, will he? God bless him.

This man is and has always been Vitality. Thank you for the audio biography. I saw him open for Nirvana in 93 and for Neil Simon in 99. He's the reason I went to both. Biographer, you forgot to mention how much he supports and loves other artists. How generously he's shared and written for/with others. Like Old Crow Medicine Show. Tom Petty is also a great, great, self-evolving artist favorite of mine, but Bob Dylan has been my all- time favorite song- writer since I was 14. I'm 46 now and also love Maynard Keenan, as he loved Kurt Cobain...yes?
This pseudo-documentary has almost nothing to do with how he “lives” but does have a lot to do with how he “lived.” There’s a big difference. Further, there is nothing about how he lives now, much less that it’s sad. The teaser title of the piece is simply equivalent to click bait.
The bigger pity is that an artist like Dylan would never get a foot in the door now. The 60's were uunique in that substance over appearance was the driving media force.
Well , I’m so glad he feels the pain. His “sad life” doesn’t seem so sad to me. He is a accomplished , musician, a poet. So I’m thinking your the reason why , he would not make words and music to express your idiocy. Xxx

Bob thought enough about me to be concerned and stop the concert. Then in front of thousands , we talked. I wanted him to play something from the past because I didn't reminisce the new. He did cause thousands roared out his old songs we all wanted to hear. If Bob Dylan is listening, thank you for waking me up bit remember, you woke us all up so many Yeats before and thank you for everything. Love, mark Owlspirits❤ monica Eaglespirit
Aint no better times coming.. its over.. we have entered into the biggest economic and social collapse in recorded history....if you have any savings.. get them out of the bank..... they are gonna crash the u.s dollar in april...
This title is so grossly misleading... there was nothing in the video showing that how he lives now is sad! Instead he seemed as vital as ever... Keep going for it Bobby!!!
If that’s your take on Dylan than you clearly don’t know him or his music or how prolific he’s continued to be over the decades. Consistently reinventing himself and songs all while continuing to write. His last album was gold. Clearly still has it. This is ignorant, misinformed bs.
The narrative sounds very AI-ish. The story told is one that is quite common among artists. The intimate details are different but the story, the story of what happens in life to artists is transparent as an artist develops their story through their art. My hope for those listening to this narrative is to take the time to listen to the vast discography produced by this talented musician and poet. My opinion of course.
Bob has always delivered the real goods to keep a person from losing their mind in this crazy world. He’s the go to guy when the chips are up or down. No one comes close to Bob, his beauty is defined by subtle nuance. Those that hear it go deep with Bob.

Dylan is IMO our nations Greatest Laurel Poet. A good, honest man. is he. I AM SADDENED BY HIS REGRETS HE HAS IN HIS FINAL YEARS. many A GENIUS (AND HE IS A GENIUS) HAS BOUTS OF DEPRESSION. i PRAY FOR HIM, HE DID SUFFER FROM NEVER BEING ABLE TO FIND HIS CORRECT SOUL MATE. HE SUFFERED A STRING OF FAILED ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS but it did not STOP HIS GENIUS. I was 12 when I was taken in by The Byrds chart busting "Mr. Tambourine Man" Reading the Album cover I learned Dylan wrote it. Hence I sought out his records. God, How I loved "Lay down your weary tune" I brought his 2nd & 3rd album LPs. Then 1 Sunday morning, a University Radio station played his latest release "DESOLATION ROW" I was maybe 14 yrs old, I was floored by the backup quitar work. (Cooper who went on to start the band Cream" The LYRICS OMG I've tried to interpret them for 56 years. I can only solve the first sentence "Selling Post cards of the hanging" Photos of KKK Lynchings were actually made into post cards. Desolation Row has been translated and performed in Italy, Spain, Slovenia and Czeck, His albums "Blood on the Tracks" has another song Lilly, Rosemarie & Jack of hearts. Another song with Lyrics that defy interpretation BUT the melody id do beautiful! Finally, The Album Desire floors me. My favorite song there is Joey. It's about the Mafioso Joe Gallo, who Dylan actually met @ Joes getting out of prison party. Joe liked Dylan's work. The song Joey is 100% factual. Another factual song is "Hurricane" Again the story of the Pro Boxer Ruben Hurricane Carter. A man who spent years in prison for a murder he DID not commit. TG, evidence came out as to the true killer and Rubin was released Emmylou Harris sang accompaniment on all DESIRE's songs. Her high Soprano range added so much. In fact she brought The song Joey up to the level of a modern day Opera. BTW, my daughter promised to have "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" play in the background at my Funeral. It does sound to both of us as that, song is about a person final song when they leave this world.
Bob is also a really great metal sculptor!! I got to see him live in concert in Albuquerque New Mexico back in the early 80s. Legendary genius artist, love you❤
I like the many pictures of Bob Dylan and I thank you for that, but... Why did you put this kind of title ("How he lives is sad") for the video? You didn't talk about sadness. One more thing: why did you skip most of the things he did from 1969 to 2020? I know that his life is very long and full of things to tell, but you shouldn't leave behind half of his career.
don't we all have heartache and pain in our lives? i love Dylan but this just seems like nonsense. The only difference between us and Dylan is he was able to use his pain to write unforgettable songs, but that doesn't make his suffering unique

The last great music was made in the 90's, is my feeling as a 44 year old. Thank you for sharing. Alv V, Norway

Wish I could hug and kiss him EVERY DAY. Or even just once.
A soul seeker who is restless may look to outsiders as “sad” but it goes deeply beyond that
You are so correct my friend
Yes, what does Bob Dylan say? He has written songs about his life for decades, resonating with all of us who have had similar life experiences..
i'm glad but not surprised that his ancestry is the same as mine, Lithuanian Jew and the Ukraine in my dna

Bob Dylan gave his life to music, writing, poetry, and fully deserves having received the Nobel Price for his contribution to,humanity and Peace.

A true prophet of our time
true human being
Great to be alive during this turbulent times of human evolvement
Thank you Bob for the great music and your prophetic words of a life time. May you live long
Hi is one of a kind and never to be duplicated!

This guy is the best.
i`m certain Mr Dylan will have been so happy to have reached
his 80`s and will be so thrilled to just wake up every day to
live more of his own life, with that unique perception he
posesses, bless his heart, the way he lives is so cool !😎
I believe the happiest (most joyful) time of Dylan's life was when he met the Lord and wrote some great songs about his new life in Christ Jesus.
Bob was not afraid to speak the truth. He wrote, "you're gonna have to serve somebody, it may be the devil, or it may be the Lord but you're gonna have to serve somebody." There are only two kingdoms after we die. The Kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. Bob knew this will. We are saved by Grace through faith. No religion needed. Just faith, faith plus nothing.
this video is missing the whole point about Dylan. how about his words? words are the heart & soul of Dylan.
Yes, the person who narrated this knows very little about the impact that Bob Dylan had upon the world. I would say that in itself is rather sad.

I guess you never met anyone who suffers from depression, but yet has the genius & grit to overcome and be sucessful at their life's work
Bob Dylan. The greatest poet of our times. His music and lyrics will live on for ever!

Captain Obvious agrees here.
This video is a big load of rubbish dripping and reeking of envy and ignorance.

Simply the greatest.
Not a sad life. He is a very private person. The closest you get is his music and what it reveals.
Your comment is proof that sometimes "less is more." He has never sought the limelight. He is who he is. You either like his music or you don't. Personally, I love it. What I love the most about him is that he does not try to be popular.

Bob Dylan is a legend! I can’t imagine music without him!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

there's nothing sad about Bob Dylan!

So many musicians past away early in their lives, its amazing to still have Bob .....
So far I’ve imagined seeing Axl Rose & Roger Daltrey amongst the illustrious musicians Bob appeared with which indicates I’ve missed my meds again. Being old is no joke .
Absolutely, fabulous performance music, Master Bob Dylan.
I hope you’re still playing Dylan music! Thanks for your years of service.
We'd sing and dance
Forever and a day
I listened to your album "The Times, They are a Changin' since 1963, or whatever year you released it.
Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?
No mention of receiving the Nobel Prize in literature?
He facially morphed into Queen Elizabeth II - what are these people hiding now?
Sounds like he just can't stop doesn't it? I guess if you keep looking for it you'll find sadness in all people's lives. The trick is to get past that and live again. From all you're telling here, the whole summation of the life of a giant in twenty minutes you can only say one thing: he just won't quit, will he? God bless him.
I'd like to try a little of that multi-million-dollar sadness for about a year.

Bob Dylan has lived a life.
The life of a troubadour.
How he is lives is not sad by the looks of it. Nothing different to any other human being. He had it good for most of his life. Nothing revealed in this video presentation to indicate otherwise
Dylan is beautiful, a true artist!
I'm so thankful I was teenager when Bob and Elvis came on scene ,,,,,,,the greatest ,,were so blessed with their talents
The bigger pity is that an artist like Dylan would never get a foot in the door now. The 60's were uunique in that substance over appearance was the driving media force.
Imagine having Bob Dylan as your Dad!!!
The only sad thng about the tape is you , Appriciate that you were alive to be on the same planet as BD what a gift!
Well , I’m so glad he feels the pain. His “sad life” doesn’t seem so sad to me. He is a accomplished , musician, a poet. So I’m thinking your the reason why , he would not make words and music to express your idiocy. Xxx

I love his early songs.
If that’s your take on Dylan than you clearly don’t know him or his music or how prolific he’s continued to be over the decades. Consistently reinventing himself and songs all while continuing to write. His last album was gold. Clearly still has it. This is ignorant, misinformed bs.
My favourite for over 50 years. Sad? Hardly. Genius YES.

Great comprehensive narrative on such a genuine Genius of our time. Such enormous musical study. Long live the Great Bob Dylan.
God, How I loved "Lay down your weary tune"
I brought his 2nd & 3rd album LPs. Desolation Row has been translated and performed in Italy, Spain, Slovenia and Czeck,
His albums "Blood on the Tracks" has another song Lilly, Rosemarie & Jack of hearts. TG, evidence came out as to the true killer and Rubin was released
Emmylou Harris sang accompaniment on all DESIRE's songs. Her high Soprano range added so much. In fact she brought The song Joey up to the level of a modern day Opera.
BTW, my daughter promised to have "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" play in the background at my Funeral. It does sound to both of us as that, song is about a person final song when they leave this world.
the only thing bob is sad about is what the world has evolved to and what people have become .... and that's a fact ☆

We call him Uncle Bob my family and I call ourselves the Bob Mob. Oceans of loving endeavour from Uncle Bob. Thank You ❤️💜💙💚💛🧡🍀
don't we all have heartache and pain in our lives? i love Dylan but this just seems like nonsense. The only difference between us and Dylan is he was able to use his pain to write unforgettable songs, but that doesn't make his suffering unique
Nobody is sad to have been so fortunate to have lived with him as contemporaries. He is the best
The "sad" party here is the narrator/writer.
